“Athena makes my job mostly easier.”
Pros
Athena's workflow stands out for its excellence and commonsense approach. It seamlessly integrates eprescribing faxing and promotes efficient communication among office staff.
Cons
The process from chart completion to claim submission involves several steps occasionally leading to redundant tasks. The software's limited understanding of medical terminology may prompt suggestions for correctly spelled terms. Users express a desire for free dictation options.

The most notable attributes of athenaOne that have brought about a substantial transformation in our practices include easy access to demographic clinical scheduling and billing data a robust data collection and reporting system that supports informed decisionmaking and a highly adaptable platform for developing and implementing processes that enhance efficiency reduce manual effort and minimize errors.
Cons
Despite using the software for over three years many features and processes remain unexplored pointing to ongoing opportunities for optimizing its use.

“Not a good choice for Behavioral Health psychology psychiatry counseling etc.”
Pros
The software operates at a fast pace with automated saving of most typed content and rare occurrences of crashes approximately 34 times per year. Support requests via email typically receive responses within 24 hours. The comprehensive online help knowledge base features an effective search engine.
Cons
Not wellsuited for mental health EHR and patient management the software's limitations become apparent especially when compared to specialized alternatives like EPIC.

“Detailed claims but poor integration”
Pros
What I really like about this is the level of detail it provides for each claim making it easy for me to see all the claim information at once.
Cons
I suspect we do not have the proper integration between our system and this tool because I am ending up manually adjusting a lot of report settings. Plus our internal data often disagrees with what this tool displays so I spend significant time reconciling differences and reconfiguring reports to match the correct values.

“Simple-to-use website”
Pros
The Athena website is simple to use. Also it is quite user friendly when I need to pull up a patient's chart, demographics, visit history or imaging results.
Cons
When I copy and paste visit notes into Athena, the text gets pasted in a messy format that I have to correct, removing extra spaces and reformatting sections which is annoying. This becomes especially tedious when the Assessment/Plan is lengthy and contains many bullet points since I find myself editing every single line to make it readable.

“Business practices are a complete failure”
Pros
The Electronic Health Record system is okay enough I guess.
Cons
The way they run their business really frustrates me. Nothing has turned out the way the sales and onboarding reps promised. It feels like their system doesn't align with our everyday workflows at all. Changing anything is a struggle and now they've even pulled back on letting us handle billing through their platform so we can avoid relying on their slow, unresponsive staff. One disappointment has followed another since we signed up. In hindsight, we regret choosing them to help launch our solo practice.

“Modern and less expensive”
Pros
It is a modern system that's significantly more efficient and easier to use than most EMRs. Because it doesn't require on-site hosting, it ends up being far less expensive and logistically simpler for practices to manage.
Cons
Even though I think it's an improvement I am well aware that all EMR platforms come with issues and a fair bit of clunkiness. athenaOne reduces many headaches but doesn't eliminate them entirely. I have run into a variety of odd technical quirks that can be pretty aggravating.

“extremely easy claims dashboard”
Pros
The claims dashboard is extremely easy to use as it brings every piece of information together in one central, convenient place.
Cons
Because the system is tied into so many other services I often get confused about who to contact as the provider or Aetna as and that uncertainty is frustrating. Still whenever I do reach out to Aetna with a question I generally find their interface easy to use and helpful.
