“A little slow”
Pros
Athena is a good EMR compared to others as it finally gets work done with its quick customer support. I am extremely satisfied with the functionality and ease of use that it provides and can confidently say it works better than most. Also since it is web-based, it can be used outside of the work environment which really helps.
Cons
While it has many pros, it can be very slow at times due to a number of people using it. I wish Athena developers really do something about this soon as during off-peak hours it is very fast. I am hoping that the software will be able to solve this issue real soon.

“The truth”
Pros
The Athena apps (AthenaCapture AthenaText and AthenaNet) on my iPhone work faster and more efficiently than our office PCs. Some patients even prefer the system.
Cons
Where do I even begin with Athena? It feels like a massive con job. I've been suffering in pain and miserable for over a year. This whole experience has been so traumatizing that I might need therapy and counseling to recover from it. Don't believe what you see in their promotional videos or fake online reviews. I fell for it all and now regret it deeply. Their 75-page fine print contracts are devilish (beware!). Nothing works as it should in the system. It's overloaded with unnecessary setup options but they are incredibly difficult to configure and nobody provides assistance even if you beg for it. I simply asked for a basic family practice setup and it was too confusing for the system to handle. Athena doesn't believe in keeping things simple and that's the root of the problem. They are insincere and unavailable especially on the East Coast. They don't think like doctors and that's a significant issue.

“Client and patient friendly!”
Pros
It's incredibly user-friendly and performs updates automatically. The patient portal is a valuable addition.
Cons
The customer service of Athena is frustratingly slow and waiting on the phone is the last thing anyone wants to do. The program can be slow at times requiring a call to Athena for assistance. Furthermore it's not possible to connect with another doctor's office if they are not part of the Athena network.

“New user like it so far”
Pros
As a new user of Athena I am truly enjoying my experience with the clinical aspect. Previously we had separate programs for patient health information billing and scheduling. With Athena's integrated scheduling feature it's convenient to have everything in one place. The software provides different sections in the chart that help define spaces for specific information eliminating the need to search for it. It's a well-organized and user-friendly system.
Cons
The large screens and scrolling for indented information can be frustrating but the overall benefits outweigh this. The layout took some getting used to but became favorable over time.

“Could Be Better...”
Pros
Fairly simple to learn within a short time frame with a clean and easily navigable interface.
Cons
The reports feature in Athena is incredibly challenging to use. As a Clinical Research Coordinator running functional reports for our various studies has a very low success rate. I also find it lacking in terms of accountability. It would be beneficial if Athena required start and stop dates for medications treatments and problems. Additionally it's far too easy to accidentally delete important information so caution is necessary when using the system.

“Best We Have Found”
Pros
I appreciate all the features although some training is required initially. Once everyone is up to speed it becomes quite easy to use. The cloud-based patient management is particularly helpful reducing the need for storage. As a relatively small practice with around 30 physicians this software is perfect for us.
Cons
The email system in Communicator leaves room for improvement and the cost of features and partner software is high.

“All-in-one Medical Billing platform”
Pros
AthenaHealth is hands down the best healthcare billing software our company has ever used. It has become an integral part of our daily tasks and we can't imagine functioning as a profitable business or fostering creativity and innovation without it. The customer service staff is always helpful and dedicated treating each customer as if they were the only one in the world.
Cons
There is a learning curve with the software and while customer service is helpful hold times can be frustrating when immediate access is needed.

“Super efficient for client/patient”
Pros
As a patient I have used this software and found it to be fantastic! The billing process which can often be challenging to keep track of is made easy with this software. It allows patients to view all their billing information in one convenient place.
Cons
It would be great if there was a mobile app available.

“Can do so much better”
Pros
I like that Athena is fairly easy to use and doesn’t make you go through tons of tabs to use it. It is really easy to learn in a short time frame and that makes it a great product to share with employees. It is relatively clean and easy to navigate.
Cons
Athena has several issues it needs to work on. The reports feature is an absolute nightmare. Being a Clinical Research Coordinator, I am constantly trying to run reports for all of our different studies and my success rate for running a functional report is pretty minimal. I do not like how it doesnt hold accountability very well. Also, be careful, its far too easy to delete things.

“Needs too much information”
Pros
Athena brings functionality and ease of use at the forefront of our service. If used as an outpatient EMR, it provides great services that are needed out of it. It is also really easy to navigate from tab to another. For a small-size provider, it brings the kind of usability that is needed.
Cons
Athena needs to realize that it asks for too much information to create a note. Many other EMRs do the same task with much less tediousness that this software asks for.

“An easy to use EMR”
Pros
To me, the pros of Athena EMR include how user-friendly it is and what a great streamlined interface it has. Match that up with its prompt technical assistance and you have one of the greatest EMRs out there in the market. It does so much and more than what I had expected and that is why it deserves the applause it is getting.
Cons
A con of Athena EMR is that it is hard to search for help topics because I have to be specific. I wish it has a broad area that I can click for more detail. A better user interface would have gone a long way and perhaps, the developers need to do that in the next update.

“Athena”
Pros
Athena has potential but isn't one of my favorite EMRs. It does offer the advantage of departmentalizing different physicians and checking their schedules is relatively easy.
Cons

“Easy to use but has flaws”
Pros
It is generally easy to use and recent updates have improved the layout. It is a pretty user-friendly system.
Cons
There are two significant security concerns with Athena. Firstly there is a lack of sufficient security measures to restrict access to certain types of notes within your network. This poses a risk of unauthorized individuals accessing sensitive information. Secondly when exchanging patient cases there is no notification system for new notes on an open case which can lead to missed updates and potential miscommunication.

“Customer Support is non-existent ”
Pros
The software is packed with functionality, no doubts about it. Also, the implementation process is pretty smooth and straight forward.
Cons
Since going live customer support has been non-existent. We are sent from one person to another or worse off told to email so and so in order to get our issue resolved. And it isn’t a minor issue. We work with iPads/ iPhones. Since IOS upgraded, athena has become incompatible. We’ve reported this issue to them and were willing to be patient about provided someone gave us a straight answer on when this issue can be resolved. Nobody seems to have an answer. Now they’ve also started ignoring our queries. I even tweeted athena to see if someone will respond and till now I haven’t heard a word from them.

“Easy charting”
Pros
Athena makes charting easy. There is a report function, which is helpful in order to determine patient visit and diagnoses. I am able to streamline reports more accurately for the questionnaires I complete so that works great for me. I also use it to see if we have a need for research studies within a specific age group and disease category.
Cons
I wish that some of the filters could be more specific for reports I require. Otherwise, it works well. The customer care also needs some work done as the hold times are gruelingly long. We really don’t have the time to wait so much in our service!

“Perfect EHR for a smooth practice”
Pros
The system is extremely easy to learn to navigate. You can easily train your staff to operate it within days. The interface layout is nice to look at and neatly organized. I love the functionalities and features it offers. Athena Health EHR software is a great platform for hospitals. I have used multiple other systems before but I prefer Athena over them for its ease and efficiency.
Cons
The system tends to lag sometimes. Especially on a busy clinic day, the system sometimes crashes. Although, the customer support is readily available and responsive. The software relies on fast internet access for optimal performance.

“Great integration. Better communication”
Pros
I like how I can look through outpatient records when attending to them in the medical clinic setting, without much of a stretch. All the necessary infor1mation is situated in one spot, for example, past clinical history, current prescriptions, past lab work, and imaging, etc. I can see where the patient was seen last and the necessary details on the encounters. I particularly like how I can message physicians so as to remain in close correspondence with them. This ensures smoother progress while going from the inpatient to outpatient setting.
Cons
It is a little inconvenient that I am unable to communicate with providers that do not use Athena. I wish all the providers were listed on it or we were allowed to communicate outside providers from within the system.
