billing accuracy with fewer errors

Pros

Our billing process ended up with noticeably fewer errors after we started using it. Overall, it helped reduce mistakes in day-to-day billing work.

Cons

The pricing felt a bit on the pricey side and a few of our doctors struggled at first with getting the hang of how to use it.

dysfunctional system

Pros

We did run into a little trouble shortly after the initial sign-up process. But, one feature I really did like was having the patient's problem list readily available & it gave me great context at a glance.

Cons

I keep losing my notes when I have to jump to another chart. The dictation feature works poorly and the tool to correct errors doesn't really function. When I first started, the system failed and I lost a lot of money. Athena refused to help me get my money back from the insurance company. Also the reimbursement money goes through a separate bank which makes it confusing to track where my money is. It's difficult to get from one section to another, the instructions are hard to find and the help sections aren't clear. I usually have to click through a bunch of windows to find what I need.

Easy login with clunky navigation

Pros

It's easy to log in and get onto the site, no problem there. But honestly things get a bit more complicated and less interactive after that initial step.

Cons

It's kind of clunky to move around the site and find what you're looking for.

An all-encompassing time-saver

Pros

AthenaOne really does have it all. It's an all-encompassing software, we use it for everything from checking in patients and viewing EMRs to faxing documents and communicating with people. There's nothing else quite like it. The support team is also quick to respond when we have an issue. Overall it makes our workday so much more time-efficient and professional.

Cons

The updates can be a little disruptive sometimes but I will say they're usually pretty quick to fix any problems that pop up.

Streamlines workflow, expensive setup

Pros

My favorite things are the ease of use, how simple it is to chart patient notes and how effortless it is to e-prescribe medications. It just streamlines my whole workflow.

Cons

Setup cost is insanely expensive. Also their telemed feature is a bit strange to use.

Fewer billing errors but pricey cost

Pros

Since we started using this system, our practice has seen a lot fewer errors when it comes to billing. It's made that whole part of our operation much smoother and more accurate.

Cons

The cost was a bit pricey for us and some of our doctors had a tough time learning how to use it.

Reliable but tough to learn

Pros

I find AthenaOne really easy to use and I love how all the tools for patient records and running the practice work together easily. The data it gives me helps me make better decisions and if I ever have a problem, their support team is quick to help. It just feels reliable.

Cons

It has a lot of features but it's tough to learn at first. Also, when you have a big problem, it can take a while to hear back from customer support which is frustrating. Sometimes just finding your way around the system feels like a chore.

website feels top-notch

Pros

Everything on the website feels really solid. The pages load as expected, the layout is clear and nothing feels out of place.

Cons

No complaints here-everything was fine and worked the way I wanted it to.

Clean UI

Pros

It's simple to use and makes it simple to communicate with healthcare providers. Accessing health records, test results and sending/receiving messages is quick and convenient from one place.

Cons

Email notification delays. When your doctor sends a message, an email alert follows-but it can arrive hours after you've already seen the message in the app.

avoid it at any cost

Pros

I am able to view some notes from other providers who have seen the patient which is helpful. On occasion I can also send faxes directly from the program though that only works time to time when the feature actually functions.

Cons

Apart from those small benefits everything else is slow and bad especially charting and notes which take a long time to finish. I cannot pull forward a previous diagnosis if another provider completed the meeting so covering for someone else becomes a real headache. Plus the system sometimes won't let me pick my own diagnosis because something different or less specific will autopopulate. Moreover when I enter cases while on call it defaults to the on-call provider instead of the clinician responsible for the patient which causes confusion. Every time I open a note from another provider, it lands in my Open Documents and stays there until I close it so I have ended up with almost 900 open documents in my inbox. So honestly I would say just get an actual EMR like Epic.

Communicating with providers is very easy

Pros

I find it easy to use and communicate with healthcare providers. It gives me an access to health records, test results and messaging.

Cons

When my doctor sends me a message, they notify me via email but I often get the email hours after I have already received the message which is not nice.

One of the simplest EHRs

Pros

I have used many different electronic health sites and Athena is by far the most simple one with hardly any tech issues.

Cons

Sometimes, when the site is down, there is no way to communicate about anything so I have to figure it out on my own which really annoys me.

Handling medical records is convenient with this

Pros

I enjoy the ease of viewing my medical records, from both past and present, without hassle and managing any scheduled appointments.

Cons

I did not like how everything was set up when I first used it. I cannot comment on the current setup since I have not used it in a long time, but back than it was challenging to navigate certain things, though overall it was never too bad.

Works really well

Pros

Fax reports directly to providers which is a handy feature.

Cons

Support has been almost nonexistent-feels like it's just plug-and-play. It also takes a skim percentage from your profits and the interface comes across as pretty awkward to use.

nothing good to mention

Pros

The registration portion works well and I find that feature excellent but that's about where the positives stop.

Cons

I have had major problems with payments as they rarely get posted on time. Often payments that are mailed straight to their lockbox end up being returned to my practice for us to verify the deposit which defeats the whole purpose of sending them directly to be hands-off. Their billing follow-up is terrible too as the team won't deviate from a script or apply any important information. And on the rare occasions they do post a payment promptly, it is usually entered incorrectly. I could go on but this covers the main issues.

Limited categories and hard to locate

Pros

It is fairly easy to navigate because the content is grouped into condensed topics.

Cons

The range of categories is limited and that often makes it hard for me to locate the documents I am trying to find.

Comes with all the necessary features!

Pros

Personally, I find athenaOne easy to use. It has all the necessary features to manage patient care. I can navigate the EMR efficiently and easily.

Cons

There have been instances where I encountered issues with saving the charting in athenaOne. On a few occasions, all my charting would disappear and there is also some double charting happening.

Works fine!

Pros

Everything is going really well and I find it very easy to use. Out of all the systems I have used so far, the layout and interface of Athena are probably the best.

Cons

Some features in AthenaOne are not very user friendly. I faced some difficulties while credentialing status and maintenance.
