What I enjoy most about Dentrix is its charting feature. As a dental assistant with four years of experience, I find it easy to record existing restorations, conditions, and treatment plans. The graphics for each tooth surface are precise, and both the dental staff and the provider find it comfortable to use.

“Ease of Use with Dentrix”
Pros
Dentrix is easy to navigate and customizable for each provider. Most features are intuitive and do not require extensive training. However, if training is necessary, the customer service team and the website provide very helpful resources.
Cons
While I appreciate being able to create note templates, it's frustrating that you can't go back when filling them out using pop-up questions. As a busy provider, I sometimes forget to check a box or fill something out, and having to manually enter it later is annoying.

I have been using Dentrix for 35 years, and it has evolved with the times while always remaining easy to use with regular updates.
Cons
It would be helpful to have ortho maximums added with insurance codes used. Also, if a patient is under 14, the system should auto-detect the prophy as a child prophy. Fluoride coverage should be auto-detected based on age in the coverage tables.

This product has a steep learning curve, but its features and versatility are very useful.
Cons
As a user for over 20 years, I find the product has become more complicated. Previously globally updated components like DEXIS now require separate updates. Tech support has degraded, is outsourced, and there's a language barrier, leading to lengthy wait times and poorly trained, inexperienced techs. Dentrix integrated products like Colgate into RXs and CareCredit into the software without client permission.

The older version of the software was simple to use and easily integrated with helpful features that taught every aspect without needing to call tech support weekly. Recently, Dentrix has become very complicated. Free software would have been more beneficial, and the money saved could have been used for a nice office week training in a tropical area.
Cons
Everything about tech support, help features, and trainers is lacking. There's no printed how-to book, and the help feature just directs you to call tech support, which is as unhelpful as the in-app help feature.

It is essential for us to transition from EasyDental to Dentrix because both systems are developed by Henry Schein, ensuring better compatibility and support.
Cons
Integration is a headache! They want to charge for every little thing and didn't inform me about extra charges until the last minute. After spending hours putting thousands of documents into the system, I found out document conversion costs an additional $860. It should be included, and I should have been told upfront. Additionally, they take weeks to respond to emails or questions, often only responding when I call them.

This is a very large, expensive program that employees find hard to learn, leading some to quit. Its not intuitive and requires extensive training for new employees.
Cons
Customer service is terrible. They always send you offshore to techs who aren't trained, requiring multiple calls to find a competent tech. I called three times to upgrade Dentrix software, and each time was told the installer had gone home. On the fourth call at 2:30 PM, I was told the installer works Monday-Thursday 5AM - 2 PM and Fridays 5AM to 1 PM. This is frustrating as I specifically took time off to install the update. This level of service from a company claiming to be the best is unacceptable, and I'm starting to regret working with Dentrix.

After training and acclimation, it was easy for me and my staff to use. It had all the features needed to run a dental practice.
Cons
Finding various reports was difficult and required some digging. There's no way to remotely view the software without taking control of the entire computer, preventing someone in the office from using it. Additionally, patient texting is not two-way in real-time and isn't integrated into the software, requiring a separate website login not linked with Dentrix.
