4.0

Ease of use

Pros

It's simple to use on both sides which has made the experience much easier for everyone involved.

Cons

It doesn't perform very well with groups larger than four which Doxy is upfront about. During the pandemic, we needed to hold group therapy sessions online and unfortunately we had to use a different platform for that.

5.0

Responsive support

Pros

As a mental health practitioner, I've been using it for teletherapy for more than two years and rely on it almost every day. It's been a fantastic fit because it's very simple for both my clients and me to use, it's free, it meets HIPAA compliance requirements and the few times I've needed customer support, they've been responsive and professional. Honestly I can't think of anything I dislike about it.

Cons

At least for how I use it in teletherapy, I really can't think of anything I'd want changed or improved.

Tidy interface

Pros

Its simple to manage and the setup didn't take much time at all. The interface feels clean, everything is simple to understand and I was able to put it into use pretty quickly.

Cons

The audio quality can be inconsistent at times and there should be better troubleshooting options available while a session is actually happening.

Having a free version available is a huge plus and it's really simple for my clients to get into without any hassle.

Cons

It has worked very well for me and honestly I haven't run into any issues or complaints with it.

Helpful for patients but audio cuts out

Pros

Right from the start, it has been very user-friendly and patients have no trouble using it which I really appreciate. I began with the free version and thought it was excellent, then moved up to the premium plan hoping for more reliability. Another big plus is that it's HIPAA compliant which is something I definitely value.

Cons

Around 17 minutes into each visit, the audio starts getting bad and the patient can no longer hear me clearly. Every time, I have to log off, shut the browser, sign back in and reconnect. It happens consistently. None of my colleagues seem to have this problem, only me. I reached out to customer support back in March and the appointment they offered wasn't until May. Now that May is almost here, I kind of wish I had just booked it. I'm wondering if it could be related to using a Mac, even though I'm running the Windows side through Boot Camp.

Quick rollout, easy to understand

Pros

Getting our team started with telemedicine using this program took only a few days and even staff members who aren't very comfortable with computers were able to use it after just a short training session. It's very simple to work with overall.

Cons

At times some features seem to crash when inviting patients to log in. The text message invitation option occasionally fails and shows an error message which means we can only send invites by email in those cases.

great choice for healthcare professionals

Pros

As a telehealth solution, this has been an excellent choice for healthcare professionals who need to meet with patients in a secure environment. It's simple to use, patients have no trouble with it and the setup is fast.

Cons

Up to this point, I haven't come across any downsides with this software. It has worked exactly as expected and was very simple to get up and running.

Fast virtual doctor access

Pros

Connecting with doctors and the medical team without having to meet in person has been really convenient. The video calls were simple to understand and use.

Cons

Getting everything downloaded and set up took longer than expected. I also had to install a different browser because it would not work at first so the functionality could definitely be improved.

perfect choice for our rural healthcare facility

Pros

When COVID-19 hit, our rural healthcare facility had very few telehealth options and we were left scrambling to put something in place quickly. We worried that some of the first platforms we looked at would be confusing for our older patient population. Thankfully, we came across Doxy.me. In under 24 hours, our physicians were already setting up and conducting televisits. Your product team played a part in helping our facility reduce patient exposure quickly during a critical healthcare emergency and we truly appreciated that.

Cons

We've only been using the product for about two weeks so our experience is still pretty limited at this point.

Free version is great for solo practice

Pros

During the coronavirus shelter-in-place period, having a HIPAA-compliant telehealth option has honestly been a lifesaver. I've been using doxy.me for about a year now and as a solo practitioner, the free version has been completely sufficient for what I need. It's also very simple and user-friendly for my clients which makes a big difference.

Cons

It's not flawless from a technical standpoint but it has been dependable and more than adequate, even when internet traffic in my area has been unusually high. The video quality does sometimes drop and there can be occasional speech lag but it's still nowhere near as problematic as what I used to deal with on Skype.

5.0

Secure option

Pros

Security was a top priority for me when choosing a platform for my clients and that's exactly what drew me to Doxy over other secure options and video tools in general. The biggest advantage was that clients don't need to install anything, they can simply click a link and join. Having previously worked in designing and developing computer application systems, I also really appreciate the overall feel and how usable it is for both me and my clients. On top of that, the limited times I've interacted with support, the help has been prompt and useful. Altogether, it made my move into telehealth happen very quickly which was especially valuable during the coronavirus emergency.

Cons

Honestly there are so many positives that it's difficult to point to much that needs improvement. If anything, I'd love to see more real-time troubleshooting options for connectivity or audio/video problems while a session is happening. For instance, it would help if users could get immediate guidance on what to adjust on their end to fix the issue. I know some of that information already exists in help articles but when you're in the middle of trying to start a meeting, there usually isn't time to dig through documentation. Maybe that kind of AI-driven assistance isn't realistic yet but it would still be a very welcome addition.

Top telehealth platform

Pros

After trying three other online video chat platforms for client meetings, this one has been the best by far. It works well for me and is simple for my clients to use too. When I ran into issues with Doxy.me after getting a new computer, the support team responded quickly, were kind and helpful and got everything sorted out in no time.

Cons

If call quality drops, it can sometimes be hard to figure out whether the issue is coming from my internet connection, the client's connection or Doxy.me itself.

There's nothing to download

Pros

Doxy works really well for clients because they don't have to download anything to join. The platform feels secure and the waiting room feature is very simple for the clinician to manage.

Cons

The most noticeable downside is the connection quality. If either you or the client has weak internet, it definitely shows during sessions on Doxy. There are also occasional random glitches that don't always seem tied to connectivity although restarting the call usually takes care of it.

Fantastic recent upgrade

Pros

Offering a free HIPAA-compliant platform for small counseling practices is phenomenal. I had already been using it well before the COVID-19 crisis and it was always reliable but the most recent software update made it much better.

Cons

Conference calling isn't available on the free plan. When my clients are in two different locations, I have to switch over to FreeConferenceCall.com instead.

One of the biggest advantages is that it's free, very simple to use and best of all, clients can join without having to install any software or download an app.

Pros

Having a built-in waiting room has been really useful and I also appreciate having one unique web address that stays the same every time.

Has a lot of potential

Pros

Having an online platform that provides an "office"-like setting while staying HIPAA compliant is something I really appreciate. I'm hopeful doxy.me continues to grow and keeps offering competitive online services. It feels like the platform has a lot of potential especially since virtual therapy still seems to be in the early stages of becoming a normal, everyday option.

Cons

There are occasional interruptions when internet connectivity issues come up.

Clean layout

Pros

I really appreciate that it's free for clinicians. The site/app is very simple to use and sending the link to clients is quick and simple. The layout is clean and the overall quality has been really good.

Cons

Only a very small number of clients have run into connection issues although I'm not sure whether that's caused by the site/app itself or by their Wi-Fi connection.

its free and convenient

Pros

it's free and both my providers and patients can use it without any trouble. There's nothing to download which makes things much more convenient and they can join my virtual waiting room from the URL.

Cons

The only downside with the free plan is that it doesn't include direct customer support. Still, I can send my concerns by email and usually get a fairly quick response.

4.0

good value for money

Pros

Getting it set up is very simple since neither the provider nor the patient has to install anything or deal with passwords. The free version is perfectly usable and the first paid tier feels well worth it especially because of the automatic text and email notifications when a patient enters the virtual waiting room. Even patients who are not comfortable with technology are usually able to use it without much trouble. In many sessions, the connection actually becomes more stable as the appointment goes on.

Cons

The automatic reminders do miss the mark once in a while. The other problems I've seen mostly come down to weak or inconsistent internet connections but even then, it seems no worse and sometimes better, than non-HIPAA-compliant video chat options like Skype.
