I am a fan of how simple it is to pull up patient charts and track trending lab values. The chart review feature works well and lets me see photos, external records and imaging from hospitals and more. Being able to filter notes by service or specialty saves time. Also, the smartphrase tool for dot phrases is incredibly useful when composing notes.

Cons

Using Epic, I encounter so many functions, gadgets and tools that it becomes overwhelming. Even after receiving several trainings from Epic specialists, I am still unsure how to operate many of its features. There's also a poor keyword filtering option which forces me to sift through excessive information and waste time. Overall, this EMR isn't user-friendly for me because it contains numerous details that are easy to miss or overlook. This leads to frequent delays and unnecessary cognitive burden.

For me, it's easy to get around and it supplies more comprehensive, relevant patient details when I am looking for them.

I find Epic quite user-friendly. What I appreciate is being able to tinker with flow sheets and the columns I use most, so I can tailor everything exactly to how I work.

to me it feels overwhelming at first because there are so many clickable options and menus to explore but once you've learned the ropes and set things up, it quickly becomes fairly easy to operate.

This system is incredibly user-friendly and I find it aligns the whole workflow significantly. I can save phrases which makes patient care so much simpler and I don't think any competitors come close.

I get frustrated because notifications are sometimes tucked away, making it difficult to locate specific messages when I want to reply to colleagues or patients. It would help if there were an easy-to-access mailbox for messages.

It's incredibly simple to pull up patient charts here, much less issue than with other medical software. I appreciate that each patient record is broken into distinct parts like follow-ups and medications, so I am unlikely to overlook anything important in their chart.

Occasionally there's a noticeable lag when I click into certain sections of a patient's record. I am not sure whether it's Epic itself or my Wi-Fi. Every so often the system freezes and even crashes and I cannot have multiple patient charts open at once which slows down my workflow.

Pros

It is very user-friendly and easy to use. After being away from this system for seven years, I honestly expected it to be confusing but I picked it up in just over a week without needing any help. Most features make sense on their own and both this module and much of the rest of the EHR feel quite simple to use.

Cons

I don't like having to exit a patient's account entirely just to see updates appear. Since I handle so many accounts each day, it's tough to jump back into the right place because there's no area that lists recently worked accounts which would really help me keep my workflow on track.

I like that users, including myself, can pick which pages and tools show up on our toolbar, it really makes the interface far easier to navigate.

Cons

That said, I find that some tasks take many more clicks than on other healthcare systems I have tried. While that extra clicking does improve security and makes accidental actions less likely, it also slows me down a lot when I am rushed. In addition, our blood bank team had to rely on a separate program because Epic didn't provide all the functionality they needed.

Some parts of the system cannot be disabled like those preset orders or brain prompts so I often just skip them and I also find it difficult at times to locate specific items.

I like how simple Epic is to navigate compared with the Soarian platform our hospital previously used. It's far more user friendly, the layout doesn't feel overwhelming and someone with only basic computer skills like me can learn to operate the software efficiently and confidently.

cant think of anything in this program that I dislike. It has had an enormous impact on the way we care for our patients in daily practice.

Pros

One thing I really like is how much space it offers for storing information. I can keep nearly unlimited patient data such as demographics, imaging, lab results, past faces and more. It also gives me plenty of options to customize the workspace if I use Epic regularly. For instance, I can save shortcuts and rearrange tabs so the layout fits how I actually work.

Cons

That said, I often find that completing even simple tasks requires too many clicks which slows me down. At times the system loads painfully slowly or even crashes outright. When that happens, I feel it undermines my ability to provide timely, high-quality care. I wish there were a simpler interface option, because the current setup has a steep learning curve that takes time to overcome.

When updates roll out, I find there are so many tools and features to learn that it's often hard for me to carve out the time needed to teach myself the right ones which makes it challenging to stay efficient while handling a heavy caseload.

For charting, this system makes things easy so everyone on the healthcare team can access records and work together on patients' care. Personally, I prefer it over Cerner which we used before.

Several features frustrate me, the avatar in particular gets in the way when I try to chart or remove LDAs, causing unnecessary delays. I'd really welcome an update that smooths out that function and makes it work more simplely.

Unfortunately, I find it doesn't integrate with other EMR platforms like Nextech which limits interoperability.
