“Brings together many emr components
Pros
I like that it can bring together many components of the electronic medical record such as laboratory results, diagnostic data, pharmacy and other areas.
Cons
Right now I don't have any real drawbacks to point out about this software. I have enjoyed testing the program and am eager for my hospital system to switch over to this EMR in the spring.

“Comprehensive and fast for documentation
Pros
In healthcare, I know nothing happens without proper documentation, so recording what we do for patients is critical. I really liked how comprehensive this software feels and how fast the dropdown boxes let me complete a patient chart right in their room during a treatment. The shortcut phrases were a lifesaver for the routine statements that belong in charts and being able to build my own templates helped me keep documentation consistently thorough as well.
Cons
It feels redundant and I wish the platform would 'talk' between different pages more smoothly. For instance, as a therapist I end up completing both a daily care tab and a therapy tab that have the same time stamp, yet I still have to enter notes twice in separate sections which eats up extra time. If the system synchronized those fields and auto-populated related pages, it would free up patient treatment time instead of consuming so much of my documentation time.

“Powerful features with easy layout
Pros
There are lots of powerful features that I can tailor to fit my needs. Also I find the layout easy to get around. The search tool is impressively powerful.
Cons
I have noticed they often revamp features and that ends up making navigation more difficult for me. I am left unsure whether they really know what they're doing with some of these changes.

“Adopted by larger health systems
Pros
All of the larger health systems moved over to EPIC back in 2019. I am honestly unsure if the benefits will outweigh the downsides of having to adopt and learn a completely new EMR system.
Cons
From my point of view, this represents a significant overhaul to our systems and many elements cannot be migrated from the old platform. I am still not sure that we'll end up finding it genuinely helpful.

“Appreciate enlarged print and multifunction
Pros
This year I have appreciated the enlarged print and the multifunctional interface. it stores and displays long patient stays which used to be a very complicated task but the system has made it noticeably easier.
Cons
Since an update this year I have noticed a change. Such as when I go into document review and click on surgery I only see the heading instead of the full surgical details, yet when I switch to the 'procedure' section the complete procedure note is visible.

“Very simple app but slow bluetooth
Pros
I am finding the app very simple to use. Although several features are limited, I see it has a lot of potential to expand.
Cons
My Bluetooth connection is extremely slow and it takes forever to refresh.

“Single database for every patient
Pros
I appreciate having a single database store every patient's information. I don't have to jump between programs anymore.
Cons
Downtime for upgrades happens too often and lasts too long and I find imaging and lab results slow during outages, thus delaying care.

“Excellent for documentation and orders
Pros
I have found EPIC excellent for documenting and managing orders. Being able to build smart phrases and message templates makes the clinical workflow more efficient. I also feel patient safety is improved thanks to the multiple prompts that appear when I am placing orders.
Cons
Changing an order can be a real issue and I frequently have to cancel the initial order and enter a new one. I have also struggled to view scanned media because the viewer closes whenever I try to compare it with charted data.

“Indispensable for hospital workflow
Pros
Working on the IT side of this application, my perspective is a bit different from that of the average user but I still consider it valid. In my role I usually handle problems where users struggle to enter notes and I help people who get locked out of the system. We also deploy the software onto Rovers that circulate on the hospital floors and our nurses and doctors rely on it every day.
Cons
I have noticed it doesn't consistently sync with Dragon speech recognition and I wish everyone could use Dragon with it because I keep getting asked to 'fix' that or investigate it. On top of that, we've been dealing with occasional latency problems with the app lately as well.

“Pulls together records from any facility
Pros
I appreciate that Epic can pull together a patient's records from any other facility using EPIC and I find the way patient information is structured to be clear and easy to access when I need it.
Cons
It would help me to have a better way to organize tasks for what needs to be completed for our patients. I would also prefer a cleaner, more simple layout for patient lists and task views.

“Nothing particular that I liked
Pros
At our facility we rely on Epic for handling Exact Lab orders and we also use Epic to sign in to nearby hospitals when sending referrals or pulling records. We don't own the system ourselves. we're simply end users of it. Honestly, there isn't really anything I particularly enjoy most about this software.
Cons
I find the most frustrating aspect of this software is how everything gets merged into a continuous stream. For example, when I need to print an X-ray report I end up printing the whole patient record because the system seems to always resume from the last place it was used. If a patient is seen one day and then returns two weeks later, the notes just continue, making it really hard to tell which entries belong to which visit. I am not a fan of that at all with Epic.

“Impressed by comprehensive healthcare applications
Pros
I am really impressed by Epic's comprehensive collection of applications designed for healthcare organizations. In my experience most of the modules are amazing and surprisingly easy to use, without being overly complex. Tasks like billing and coding feel much simpler to accomplish here than with many other platforms I have used. One of the standout tools is the defer option which other vendors seem to lack. And it is particularly handy for a biller who needs to pause and consult providers before moving forward with an action.
Cons
One of the main frustrations I have with Epic is that its interface feels somewhat old-fashioned. I have noticed there's a huge inconsistency in how people use it across the organization. Frequently I found myself talking through workflows with doctors and nurses just to get them moving. Sadly, mutual troubleshooting was difficult because the system behaves so differently for various users that we couldn't rely on a single, consistent approach.

“Extensively deployed across hospitals nationwide
Pros
I have seen how extensively this platform has been deployed across hospitals nationwide and that reach allows it to pull a patient's complete medical history into a single location which is genuinely impressive given the complexity involved. Passing records between facilities used to be a major headache because of the strict security requirements around that information, so having everything consolidated has really solved a huge logistical and privacy challenge.
Cons
Training such a large number of staff to use the system correctly has been pretty challenging for our team and we've spent a lot of time on education and support. still, in our experience the effort pays off and the benefits make it worthwhile in the long run.

“Packed with limitless clinician tools
Pros
As a user, I have found Epic packed with seemingly limitless tools for clinicians. I genuinely appreciate how it helps reduce clinical mistakes, aligns charting and supports more effective, timely patient care.
Cons
I get frustrated by how often the system pushes updates as many feel unnecessary and it can also be a real issue to get clear answers or data out of the organization at times.

“Great workspaces but frequent glitches
Pros
It's great that all of our WQs are here, along with our encoder and every bit of documentation and I find it easy to rearrange workspaces to suit my needs and preferences.
Cons
I come across frequent glitches and gaps in data, with the system pulling details from unidentified documents and I often cannot tell where many of the codes originate.

“Exceptional EMR
Pros
It is known as the best in this field, and I really like it. I would highly recommend getting this EMR. The functionality of this software is great and it extremely easy to use as compared to many other EMRs. It is easy to navigate, has custom functionality, and it can gather input from multiple sources.
Cons
For someone who is new to using computers might find the system overwhelming. If the system is not personalized according to your requirements then it can be a bit overwhelming.

“EpicCare
Pros
EpicCare has been in the industry for quite a long time, everyone almost knows about it. It is one of the largest EMR systems in the country Id say. The training is easier, and many in the industry already know about it.
Cons
It often has a few glitches, and we have faced a few interface issues as well.

“Highly Recommend
Pros
We were sold on the fact that how easy it is to navigate the system. The implementation process was smooth though lengthy which was a given because of the size of our facility. EpicCare is a tailored system for the needs of our hospital and it has the functionality to capture information from different sources.
Cons
The system has so many modules and sometimes becomes overwhelming however, we accept the challenge.

“EPIC
Pros
It is easy to create notes with EPIC. It is easy to part between bill Part A and Part B services, as well as the commercial and Medicaid claims. I like that I can create an action to put the claims in a specific WQ for my review. It is a great software.
Cons
There are times when the updates create other issues in the system.
