Everything we need

Pros

The system truly has everything we need to run our facility. Since this is a hospital so we naturally deal with inpatient as well as outpatient clients and EpicCare has given us the ease to seamlessly carry out our daily tasks. We all find it really easy to use, sometimes a bit overwhelmed because it has so many modules but nothing we don’t need.

Cons

We had some problems in the past but it was sorted out once we incorporated EpicCare for the whole facility.

Not for every practice

Pros

I saw a lot of bigger practices and corporations made a switch to EpicCare EMR system. Though I like their customer service and the system overall, but I believe it is more geared towards bigger practices. The system is a customized solution that they provided to us and I am satisfied with it.

Cons

The only problem and some may find it a major one is that it doesn’t offer the ability to transfer all the data from the previous EMR system.

Best by far.

Pros

EPIC is an easier approach to healthcare. It would be great if every healthcare facility used EPIC. It is so simple to use. Scanning documents, sending messages to providers within the practice and using the portal, it all is quite easy and fast. I really like this software and consider it the best.

Cons

There isn’t anything bad about this system that I find.

Epic

Pros

The software is great, and it has a lot to offer. It has so many great features and functionalities. The options are robust, and it has the ability to create shortcuts for documentation. Connecting one EMR to another is quite easy with this.

Cons

When you are new, it would definitely be quite overwhelming at first. And trying to find certain features and functions can be quite cumbersome. It has a learning curve.

Monitoring Patients

Pros

It helps us save a lot of time. We can easily check patients’ status and it also enables us to get the prior test results and medical records that are relevant to patient care. We can access it through our phones. Monitoring our patients is easier with EPIC.

Cons

Not a con, but a suggestion that it would be great if the patient’s delivery summaries and operative reports could directly be populated into our office software.

All combined in one

Pros

EpicCare is truly an All in One solution which offers all the software and applications needed for charting and billing. They have a robust billing system that does coding pretty efficiently. It is equipped with the latest ICD 10 codes. We have seen an increase in our revenues since we started using EpicCare PM system.

Cons

It isn’t as user-friendly as we hoped it to be. A lot of the times we need help to perform a certain task on the EMR. Although they have a good customer support system in place, but we’d like not to have a use for it often.

Really impressed!

Pros

I am really impressed by the customization options as my display can be tailored so it only shows the tools and information I actually use.

Cons

There are numerous features that I don't make use of simply because I am not aware they exist.

Simple and user friendly for daily tasks

Pros

I like how simple it is. The layout and functions are largely user friendly and using the program reduces the amount of time I spend on individual tasks. At our clinic, we migrated to a shared EHR with a nearby hospital and its affiliated clinics which has eliminated a lot of searching and tracking down patient records.

Cons

For me, there are several different ways to achieve most tasks, yet the steps needed to move from point A to point B often feel long and frustrating. I end up clicking through many screens and repeating actions I have already completed. If someone learns the shortcuts, it becomes manageable but people who aren't comfortable with technology will probably find the interface harder to use and more frustrating than helpful.

Very easy to navigate and saves time

Pros

This product is very easy to navigate, so using it is not a problem and saves me time during my daily tasks.

Cons

the software feels overly expensive and presents real challenges when trying to get other companies or vendors to integrate with it.

Easy navigation with excellent it support

Pros

Navigating between the various fields is really easy and when I had a pop-up error I reached out to IT. Their team picked up the phone right away, walked me through it and promptly resolved the issue.

Cons

I find it confusing that inpatient charts and post-discharge charts look and behave differently which complicates reviewing patient information across care transitions.

Flexible system

Pros

I appreciate how flexible the system is and that the company provides training courses which helped me fully grasp what I was signing up for.

Cons

the number of tabs and the amount of detail ends up feeling pretty cluttered and, at times, overwhelming. I understand why everything is there but I wish the layout were a bit cleaner and less chaotic.

Superb and user friendly interface

Pros

Throughout my educational career I have used numerous electronic medical record systems but this one outshines the others. It offers a superb, user friendly interface. It's simple to pick up and monitors what I do while helping to align my everyday duties and responsibilities. It turns clinical work into something enjoyable and documenting and placing orders becomes effortless. I consider it essential for any major healthcare organization across hospitals and large academic medical centers nationwide

Cons

I really don't have any criticisms about this program. It has only improved how I care for patients. If I had to mention one thing, it's that the system is very powerful and learning to use all of its features well can require a fair amount of time for daily practice.

Onsite administrators for easier onboarding

Pros

I use this every day at work and when we onboarded there were administrators physically on site who walked us step-by-step through how to operate the system which made learning much easier and helped me feel comfortable using it right away.

Cons

Honestly, I wish there were more videos available online that walk users through every feature of it. As there's a real shortage of user-focused tutorials and I would love to see a comprehensive YouTube guide.

Really like face view feature

Pros

One feature I really appreciate is the face view. It lets me review a patient's historical records exactly as they would appear during a live face, so I don't have to dig through disparate notes. Everything I need pops up on a single dashboard in front of me.

Cons

It took me a while to get comfortable with the system because there's a definite learning curve. Some features still confuse me and I am not sure how to use them. When I used this software for a research project, I couldn't find any way to extract specific data if such a tool exists, I never discovered it.

fantastic for charting but lacks in some areas

Pros

It is fantastic for med-surg documentation. Overall it's really great for charting and keeping notes organized.

Cons

In my experience, it isn't set up to support interdisciplinary review of each other's documentation which makes team-based checks harder.

Big fan of familiar and reliable system

Pros

I have been using EpicCare for four years and I am a big fan. Because it's so widely adopted here in my state, I find it familiar and reliable. It's user friendly too, the team keeps pushing regular updates and it has made it much simpler to link EMRs across hospitals and clinics.

Cons

Sometimes the software can be slow or refuse to launch on my workstation. I'll be right there in a patient's room and Epic won't open or it takes forever to load. That situation becomes extremely aggravating when I have to access the chart to administer medications or quickly check something at the bedside. delays like that interrupt care and raise stress.

Appreciate tailoring to my workflow

Pros

What I appreciate about this software is how much I can tailor it to my workflow and set it up exactly the way I need. Depending on which tools I use every day, I can pin or highlight those to appear more prominently. When I find myself typing the same phrase into reports repeatedly, I save it and use a shortcut to drop it in instantly. There are a ton of these time-saving shortcuts that make the documentation and paperwork side of healthcare surprisingly quick and much more convenient!

Cons

I do find that because Epic packs in so many helpful features, there's a learning curve and it takes quite a bit of time and practice to become comfortable with everything and make full use of the system's capabilities.

Clean layout and easy to use

Pros

The thing I like is the clean layout. Also it is easy to use and I like how quickly I can document everything or anything.

Cons

I have noticed Epic is always rolling out new features and layout changes and at times having to relearn parts of the EMR after those updates feels tedious especially when the changes don't deliver much practical improvement.

Easy to use with best templates

Pros

It is easy to use, plus it comes with the best templates and I can deploy it across several hospitals.

Cons

At the moment I don't have any major complaints but I'd really like them to add more specialty templates, for example dental.
