“Clean and user friendly interface
Pros
This EMR has a clean, user-friendly interface and I generally find it easy to navigate around.
Cons
I often find the system forces too many manual clicks which can slow workflows and sometimes makes the whole experience feel clunky.

“Countless features and keyboard shortcuts
Pros
There are countless features and keyboard shortcuts inside Epic and I frequently use every shortcut available to move quickly between the clinical schedule, the registration tab and the various orders screens during my workflow.
Cons
I wish the system would allow me to have more than four patient charts open at the same time. I don't need unlimited tabs and I actually don't think that would be a good idea but adding a few more slots would be a really useful improvement for my workflow.

“Easily share patient information
Pros
I like that I can easily share patient information with other clinicians who are involved in the same cases.
Cons
When new team members join our well-established EPIC setup, I often struggle to locate suitable training resources.

“Very user friendly and simple interface
Pros
The interface is very user friendly and simple which makes it easy to use and simple to train new staff and the support team has been the best. From my perspective, Epic stands as a national if not global leader in EMR rollouts and I believe their product outperforms other EMR systems in regular use.
Cons
some features aren't immediately obvious and when knowledge is distributed across multiple campuses, one site will often learn a trick that doesn't get passed around the rest of the enterprise. While I recognize this is mostly an internal communication problem, I'd like Epic to consider sending occasional tips or announcement blasts so users everywhere can pick up the smaller system details and make the most of this otherwise excellent product.

“this emr leads market
Pros
I have come to understand why this EMR leads the market. it includes all the features I need and presents them in a clean, attractive interface.
Cons
there is a learning curve with any EMR, including this one but I don't find it overly difficult.

“Handles every task after learning curve
Pros
Ive discovered that EPIC isn't the simplest system to learn, train on or operate, yet once you become familiar with it and start using it regularly, it handles virtually every task you throw at it. In only a few hours, the majority of end users are able to get up and running and face few problems during normal daily use.
Cons
For my organization, this platform comes with a hefty price tag and demands a skilled IT team plus robust infrastructure hardware to run smoothly. If your facility is on the smaller side, I'd consider alternative systems, although in my view EPIC remains an outstanding option for most healthcare providers.

“Easy graphical interface with remote access
Pros
I have found the graphical interface really easy to use and I like that I can access it remotely or from my mobile. I mean those features are definite advantages.
Cons
When large software upgrades occur, I have noticed they tend to archive older data and some of it can become impossible to find again. I also find the high number of prompt windows can be quite annoying at times.

“Intuitive system
Pros
It is an advanced system that has given us the ability to interact with other EpicCare EMR systems based in other facilities. Referral history has never been easier for us. We are a teaching hospital and it gives us the ability to run research reports. Its convenient to check out the history of research reports run during a particular session.
Cons
It has a lot of functionality to run multiple reports which sometimes makes it difficult to understand. I hope they make this module user-friendly like the rest of the system.

“Steady improvements with excellent inpatient module
Pros
Over time, I have seen steady improvements and the inpatient module is excellent for capturing detailed documentation.
Cons
It is huge and complex, with so many documentation options that just locating them feels like a chore, though the payoff makes it worthwhile.

“No more paper charts but difficult to use
Pros
I appreciate that we no longer deal with paper charts. everything is stored together in a single place.
Cons
While using it, I found the system somewhat hard to navigate and was initially told there would only be one standardized workflow that everyone would follow. In practice, that wasn't the case as many people discovered workarounds and developed varying approaches. There's far too much clicking to reach what you need and I have seen duplicate medical records created very easily.

“Seamless Integration
Pros
I like the fact that it doesn’t need the help of too many third-party software to function. All of my patient’s data is available in one place which makes it accessing all details and history of visits of them very easy. Also, I like the fact the EpicCare EMR in different institutions can talk to each other. That’s brilliant!
Cons
Updates are too frequent and the downtime it creates sometimes hinders the daily tasks.

“Pull up concise summaries easily
Pros
One thing I like is that I can pull up concise summaries instead of having to search through pages and pages for every single item.
Cons
I am still discovering features I had no idea were there and it's not exactly the simplest system to pick up.

“Navigate both acute and outpatient settings
Pros
I have been able to navigate patient charts and notes in both acute care and outpatient settings and I use dot phrases to significantly cut down the time I spend on documentation.
Cons
there was a fairly steep learning curve when I first tried to navigate the system which made the initial setup and daily use a bit challenging.

“Really happy with epic for charting
Pros
Ever since we switched to Epic, I have been really happy with it. I can access the system from anywhere and often finish my charting at home which has made my workflow much easier.
Cons
When updates are released, they bother me because the interface changes can be confusing and disrupt how I normally work.

“Appreciate dot phrases and application flow
Pros
What I appreciate are the dot phrases, the sheer volume of accessible information, the application's overall flow and how significantly it makes documentation easier for me!
Cons
At first I found it somewhat overwhelming because there are so many features packed in but that initial unease fades fairly quickly once I recognize how dramatically it boosts my ability to help each patient while also making it much easier to communicate clearly and efficiently with other caregivers through thorough, high-quality documentation.

“Care everywhere works really well
Pros
For me the Care Everywhere section works really well. I also appreciate the quick phrases and the option to build ordersets and customizable note templates which I find helpful.
Cons
I find the customizable views confusing because it's not obvious you can create them as many features aren't displayed upfront, so I didn't realize that option existed. Also, there are times when I have to click through multiple screens and perform numerous mouse clicks just to open up an face for a patient I am not actively caring for on the inpatient service.

“Really easy billing access and corrections
Pros
When it comes to billing, I find it really easy to access all the billing information and to make corrections without much issue.
Cons
I have noticed that occasionally the system will hang or stall when I am trying to edit older, aged invoices and that can be pretty frustrating.
