“Made patient care much smoother
Pros
In my organization Epic has made patient care much smoother and it's become very functional and easy to access patient records across different facilities. I genuinely enjoy working with Epic every day.
Cons
I find that the program offers several different ways to accomplish the same task and that can be confusing sometimes.

“Incredibly easy to manage daily
Pros
I find it incredibly easy to use and it does not feel overwhelming to manage during my daily tasks.
Cons
When I try to search for patients it can be difficult. I feel like the lookup function should offer more detail and be easier to navigate.

“Charting is really easy and strong
Pros
Charting for a patient is really easy. Plus having worked with other hospital charting platforms, I think Epic stands out as the strongest option. Since much of a patient's records transfer between different facilities, I can easily review their past history which helps me deliver more informed care. The toolset is also powerful and the interface is user friendly and relatively simple to navigate.
Cons
At times, I have trouble locating the exact spot where I need to enter certain charting details. There are so many different tabs and areas available to document under which on one hand is useful but on the other hand can feel quite overwhelming and make it harder to work efficiently.

“Impressively keeps and locates data
Pros
I am impressed by how much data the software keeps and I find it surprisingly easy to locate precisely the information I am searching for in the system.
Cons
My biggest problem is the OneClick tool. it routinely takes far longer than expected to schedule a patient for our lab, so it's definitely not the true 'one' click the name suggests and slows down our workflow.

“Excellent for consolidating patient care
Pros
I find it excellent for consolidating patient care so everything's managed in one place.
Cons
For me, it becomes much less useful between hospitals when other facilities don't have this application.

“Ease of use tops the list
Pros
Ease of use tops my list when it comes to Epic. Having worked with older EMRs, I am well aware of how quickly a clunky system can ruin your day, so this one feels like a breath of fresh air. In my experience it's the best EMR I have used maybe the best available because everything about it is so user friendly that, even without formal training, you can usually learn the basics in a few hours. The built-in shortcuts are really helpful and I love that I can customize the interface to match how I work. From a billing perspective it's a major time-saver and as someone who uses it every day I can tell you physicians will appreciate it too. To put it simply, this feels like the EMR of the present and the future. The CareEverywhere capability is a standout for me as having access to outside records makes maintaining continuity of care so much easier and overall it smooths out clinical workflows. It lives up to its reputation as the gold standard for good reason.
Cons
When I line it up against other EMRs I have used, I honestly cannot think of any meaningful drawbacks to point out.

“connects hospitals pretty nicely
Pros
It's user-friendly and I really appreciate that so many hospitals can connect and access medical records. There are numerous features available and I find the system extremely helpful overall.
Cons
I notice they're always rolling out new updates and I sometimes find all the constant changes pretty difficult to keep up with.

“User friendly with multiple shortcuts
Pros
I find it really user-friendly and the more I use it the simpler it feels. For example, there are several ways to reach the same features and I appreciate that redundancy because it lets me jump around with quick shortcuts. Another thing I like is being able to message colleagues inside the platform that's been really useful in day to day work.
Cons
I hadn't really thought about downsides until now but the main problem would be the sections I don't have permission to see. Since I enjoy exploring and getting to know the system, it feels a bit frustrating when portions of a chart are blocked, though I recognize those restrictions are there for security and confidentiality and are totally justified. Honestly, most of the things I cannot view aren't necessary for my role, so I don't have any major complaints overall.

“Navigate every part of a patient's emr
Pros
I can navigate to every part of a patient's EMR without issue and I appreciate how simple it is to enter orders, whether the doctor is physically in the building or working remotely.
Cons
It's hard to locate specific pieces of information until I have learned where to search.

“Simple charting with reusable templates
Pros
What I like most is how simple it is to chart patients as I can create reusable charting templates and set up order sets ahead of time. Everything is digital, so I can link directly to the PACS and pull in documentation from outside vendors. I also switch back and forth between inpatient and outpatient workflows without issue. In my experience Dragon voice recognition works really well with this platform.
Cons
What bothers me is that Epic's setup can be very different from one healthcare organization to another and the implementation can be expensive. It also has a learning curve and how quickly you get comfortable depends a lot on your computer skills. On big hospital systems I have worked in, locating specific patients and managing patient lists on the inpatient side can be frustrating and time-consuming.

“Pretty inclusive but very slow
Pros
I find it pretty inclusive as people across most facilities are able to pull up results, messages, notes, appointments and FYIs. Over time I have noticed it has gotten better at flagging duplicate charts, duplicate appointees or simply telling you when you're wrong.
Cons
I am constantly frustrated by how slow and glitch-prone it is. Tasks that should take one or two clicks require many more and I find there are dozens of extra steps to finish any order, refill, scheduling task or really anything else. The screen frequently freezes and goes black until the program finally catches up and sometimes it just crashes or gets stuck updating. Worst of all, it regularly ends up not working at all which kills my workflow.

“Enjoy using for charting and patient care
Pros
For my nursing staff and management team, I really enjoy using this product. Its usability feels limitless and it makes charting and patient care far easier than anything else I have used, plus it lets us merge records quickly and without issue.
Cons
For me, the expense combined with the amount of training required for the software feels a bit beyond what we can comfortably afford and manage right now.

“Unacceptable service for bill payment
Pros
Speaking as a user, when the system is functioning properly I find it quite user friendly for consumers to navigate and use.
Cons
I haven't been able to pay an online bill for more than a month and as someone who spent over thirty years working in the software industry I find it astonishing that an issue could remain unresolved for such an extended stretch. this level of service is completely unacceptable to me.

“Love dot phrases and templates
Pros
I really love how dot phrases and templates save me so much time!
Cons
Honestly, the templates look great after they're finished but they demand a huge amount of upfront work for me to shape them really exactly how I want.

“Features overload
Pros
I have too many faults for it to list, but there are some definite pros to Epic as well. The best feature of this EMR is the widespread availability of records for patients across the country and across many providers which is really helpful. The usage of records also helped us control our documents and streamline them much more easily.
Cons
There is absolutely no ease of use or functionality in this software. When you are opening a new chart, there is far too much on the screen at once and the clutter on the screen makes using it for the first time difficult for users. I stopped being an active user of EpicCare EMR, but overall, the few weeks that I had training on it prior to launch, I was not a fan and would not recommend it.

“Great system, if used with proper training
Pros
We use Epic EMR for post-surgery patients, their care and overall records. With this system, placing an order, making changes and setting up customized pages for requesting labs, making notes, and additions is extremely easy. You can set up the main page to look like whatever you want and add links or tabs you need regularly.
Cons
A very extensive learning time period required. Even after taking training courses, it takes a considerable amount of time to learn to navigate the system. One hopes for customer service to help them with the customization of the home page and other personalization.

“Epic in every way
Pros
This EHR system is one of the better ones I have found out there and I have seen plenty. It is also among the most comprehensive EHR systems Ive worked with to date. As an analyst, I help to customize this EHR for my health network, and it has been made really easy by the support we get from the Epic system itself. For me, this is a sure winner.
Cons
The cost is astronomical, but the payoff makes it less painful to know the amount that has gone into buying this. Of course, the price point is always a touchy subject with Epic. You really need to be able to afford it . But the customizations you get with that price are worth it.

“Great Software. Cannot fault this EHR
Pros
When I first started working at my workplace, the software they were using was MediTech. I felt that it was an okay system until we switched over to Epic! This, I absolutely love! You can move around easily and It’s really accessible. Everything is right there and you dont have to search for things here and there. I love the user interface too.
Cons
There was absolutely nothing I didnt like about this software. However, many people in our practice have complained about its price tag. They feel that the software can be more reasonably priced than it is at. However, I think given how it works that can be forgiven especially if its for a large-sized practice like ours.

“Tailor Made
Pros
EpicCare has been a godsend for our practice. We took our time during the implementation and training process. Made sure that the system is cut and designed to the needs of our practice and the users. How easy it is to customize templates. The entire system, EMR, and PM talk to each other as well as the remaining modules. Its robust and intuitive.
Cons
Too many clicks sometimes frustrate us but we are working on that with them.
