A robust, non-intuitive system that requires a big learning curve

Pros

It is efficient in many ways and robust as well. The features that youve activated it mainly depends on that. It handles all the workflows in a very mannerly and organized way like outpatient visits, hospital workflows and procedures. It also allows you to customize your screen layout as well, but that option is also very limited.

Cons

There are quite a lot of features that are hidden and are difficult to locate them. Even with many years of experience using this EHR will give you a tough time. The screen is populated with a lot of objects like buttons, tabs, links etc. It occupies a lot of free space and makes it hard to focus on what you really want.

Brilliant software

Pros

I found Epic EHR to be a fantastic software to use! This system was very easy to navigate and I really never had a problem finding images or lab results. The images were always clear and all uploaded files were clear. I needed software that had such options and overall ease of use, which this system has surely provided me.

Cons

While it’s a great software, it really is a little difficult to learn at the beginning and took me a while to fully understand its functions. However, I am sure the user will learn its way around the software and would love this system once they make the most of it. Just make sure you leave enough time to understand it and then use it.

Excellent for patients

Pros

I found Epic EHR to be an excellent space for patients to correspond with their respective physicians, as well as to get their lab results and make appointments with such ease. I think the software has proven that it really is an efficient EMR that allows some communication between different health systems and make life so much easier.

Cons

I think that It is not always organized in the most logical way and that needs to be updated as soon as possible. The different key buttons show up in different places, depending on what screen you are using; this needs to be more user-friendly. There is no way to notify a patient you are out of the office. Also, the phone app and iPad apps are rudimentary and need improvements to make them useful for my practice.

Overwhelming visual clutter on charts

Pros

One of the best things about this EMR, in my experience, is how widely available patient records are as I can access them across the country and through many different providers.

Cons

Opening a new chart feels overwhelming to me because there's just far too much displayed on the screen at once and that visual clutter makes it really hard for someone using the system for the first time to figure things out.

Really easy to walk teams through

Pros

It is really easy to walk the CareCorp team through how the system operates and it responds quickly when navigating to a menu.

Cons

We found the user interface somewhat tricky for the CareCorp staff to pick up and the fonts were tiny so it took ages to enlarge them.

Excellent ehr for organizations of any size

Pros

I find this EHR and EPM offering to be excellent. The features it provides meet the majority, if not all, of the requirements for organizations ranging from small practices to large companies. It's also very reliable.

Cons

Because I am a consultant with multiple EPIC clinics, I have been very disappointed by the support. I have asked repeatedly how to send secure messages in bulk to multiple patients, yet EPIC has not provided this information despite numerous requests from me and my clients over several months through multiple channels already.

Powerful ehr with right modules

Pros

For me, when I enable the right modules it becomes a powerful EHR platform. I can manage various workflows like outpatient visits, surgical procedures and inpatient hospital care.

Cons

I find it hard to use, even after many years working closely with it and gaining experience. The interface feels excessively cluttered with buttons, tabs, live links and data completely scattered everywhere. There are far too many hidden options to recall and the process is frequently clumsy, demanding numerous mouse clicks and hops between several screens with pauses as screens load. The display also shows a host of tools and buttons/tabs I personally never use they're meant for other roles like discharge planners which makes it feel like a one-size-fits-all layout.

Easy sign-in but frequent disruptive updates

Pros

Signing in is really easy and I can quickly review a patient's medications without much issue.

Cons

It gets frustrating. As just as I finally get comfortable with how the system operates, an update rolls out and rearranges everything. I end up relearning new steps frequently and by the time I have adapted to one change, another update shows up that shifts things again, so it's hard to keep a steady workflow.

Connects smoothly across departments

Pros

I find it connects smoothly across many departments in a large hospital, linking doctors, nurses and rehabilitation teams effectively.

Cons

Writing physical therapy notes takes a lot of my time and there's very limited space for free-form comments or additional observations.

A total epic fail

Pros

There are not many pros for us in this software, but accessing outside records has really helped us. Also, I wouldn’t say anything bad about customer support because they were quick to reply to our queries. That is the only good I can say about Epic.

Cons

I think there are too many cons for this software. For starters, it’s too busy, not user-friendly, not intuitive and has too many ways to perform one task. How about some simplicity here? Half the time the trainers don’t know what they are doing because this software gives no clarity. Honestly, I could go on and on and truly believe this is an overhyped EMR in every sense.

Best EMR system I have used to date

Pros

Epic systems are a dream to work with. I wish more healthcare organizations would employ it because it revolutionizes medical tech space and offers great functionalities. I have used Epic in both user and client capacities. I have been using Epic as a nursing student and CAN and I love it. I have used multiple other EHRs but Epic has been by far the best there is on the market. It allows great scope for customization, and it’s easy to use. The support staff is kind and helpful.

Cons

EpicCare is pricey considering it aims to accommodate large health organizations. Which is primarily why a large number of healthcare facilities do not use it. However, the system is totally worth every penny.

I am a happy EPIC user

Pros

We at NorthShore were one of the first organizations that started using EPIC when It became available and we have never found any major issues with it. The best part of EPIC is that one can easily find all the necessary information about a patient and as a health system that is what is most essential. Everything is there, labs, radiology reports, medical professionals’ notes, immunizations, referrals, etc. EPIC is easy to navigate, and for that we love it here.

Cons

There are too many features to remember that surely can be made less. On the other hand, there are so many features and shortcuts are hidden and almost impossible to find which can be put in front instead of random features. I also wish for an EPIC update where some features are not as totally useless and unnecessary as they usually turn out to be.

Great system to use, with proper training

Pros

Epic is a pro at everything you could and would want it to do. Its a hub where all clinical data and specialties are integrated to form a streamlined system. there is an immense capacity to house unlimited patient data in the charts. the system saves a great deal of time. what would take a day to work manually, it can do in a snap. we are completely smitten by all the functionalities of the system. customer support is fast and well-equipped to fix all issues

Cons

Epic is a complex system and you need to know exactly where to look and what to ask in order to get the desired results. it takes quite some time to learn the system.

Huge help when in greatest need

Pros

We found EpicCare to be a huge help when we were in greatest need. If you're after a comprehensive, value-focused system that organizes things well and delivers real benefits, this is definitely the best option I have come across!

Cons

I will say our team struggled a bit with onboarding at first, though their outstanding tech support stepped in and sorted everything out quickly and efficiently!

Most user friendly and customizable

Pros

Having worked on both the administrative and hands-on user sides of Epic, I have experienced it from multiple angles. In my role as a CNA and while studying nursing, I have been using it for quite some time and genuinely enjoy it. Compared with other EMR platforms I have tried, I feel confident saying it is by far the most user friendly and offers the most customization. It can be a bit of a learning curve like any electronic medical record but the support is excellent, it is easy to use and the customization options are impressive.

Cons

I find EpicCare EMR to be expensive and I have noticed many hospitals avoid adopting Epic mainly because of that cost. From my perspective, though, the investment pays off and it's worth the expense.

Easy to use with voice technology

Pros

The programs were easy to use and I appreciated the option to add voice technology to simplify documentation.

Cons

It took me some time to get the hang of it but once I did it proved to be an extremely powerful documentation system. I had trouble keeping miscellaneous records organized at times and when working in a bigger organization I frequently struggled to locate scanned documents.

Little real benefit to patient care

Pros

I have found that there is a large amount of information available with easy access to other hospital departments and many tasks can be carried out effectively once I have mastered the system and worked out its quirks.

Cons

I see little real benefit to patient care because I end up spending an unusually demanding amount of time in front of the computer. I feel it's better suited for government-style gathering of public health data and is not primarily designed to improve patient care. in fact, it can have the opposite effect.

The most famous and preferred EHR in Cincinnati

Pros

A majority of healthcare organizations and facilities in our city employ Epic systems. It is a great benefit considering the fact that patients who go to more than one facility can access their data and have it easily retrieved from the same system. Different providers can coordinate and remain connected and access data from different sites hassle-free, without requiring manual updates. It especially is a huge convenience since most of our practitioners work from more than one facility.

Cons

Epic has made communication and data organization and retrieval incredibly easy and efficient hence I do not have any complaints. Although, customer service could use a little improvement as they are not very responsive.

is good to use

Pros

It is good to use. It is nice to have every record stored and maintained in one place. Accessing patient information is really easy. It notifies you when someone else is working with the patient’s chart, so that is nice as well that the system is interdisciplinary.

Cons

It is pretty good to use, but I wouldn’t really go for this system. There is a lot of redundant data and information. If a patient visits you, even if it is for the same service it requires us to enter the dx code each time, which is very annoying.

Useful for provider accountability

Pros

Over two years I worked with this system in a hospital setting and found it quite useful because it ensured providers were held accountable for completing their notes before billing. It also offered the ability to build templates that significantly sped up charting. Since the platform is implemented across multiple hospital sites, sharing patient information with other clinicians was easy. It adapted well to different kinds of providers too, making collaboration and continuity of documentation easier across departments.

Cons

There aren't many complaints I have about this software. my main note is that the interface feels a bit dated visually. I wasn't the person handling billing or contacting customer support, so I don't have any direct experience with payment processes or how responsive support is and cannot really comment on those areas.
