Complete electronic health records and administration

Pros

The support team helped set up the software, and I like its cloud-based accessibility. Some software issues resolve themselves over time.

Cons

Certain field entries, like phone numbers and social security numbers, could be more user-friendly. Plus, the lack of experience with other electronic health systems makes it hard to compare.

Easy to learn

Pros

It's an easy-to-learn and work-with software.

Cons

The end-of-night reports could be improved by including all payments made during the day, specifying payment methods on statements, and enabling payment editing.

we liked it overall

Pros

I'm using NextGen to document patient encounters during weekly clinic appointments and it generally does the job. The interface is workable for keeping visit notes together and the documentation flow gets the basic outpatient information recorded without too much trouble.

Cons

Falls short when I need a complete patient picture. I have to switch between several different software programs to piece together full patient information since NextGen only covers outpatient visits. That makes continuity of care harder because inpatient records aren't accessible and the workflow also takes more keystrokes than it should for each step.

Nextgen

Pros

We were formerly using 3 systems for our practice. February 2018, we consolidated every one of the 3 systems and began using just NextGen. This has enabled us to have everything in one program and didnt need to hop around to various systems. We are additionally ready to scan all the records into this program so for comfort alone this has been an enormous efficient device.

Cons

The functionality of the claims processing can be a bit confusing, but the support team is great and always helps us out.

Strong EHR and PM integration

Pros

Integration between the EHR and PM is really solid and it makes the workflow feel connected instead of switching between disconnected tools.

Cons

The financial/accounting side doesn't feel as developed and I'd also like more flexibility in the reporting options.

its great

Pros

Appreciate how smoothly the system moves between Practice Management and the EHR.

Cons

That smooth transition also comes with a few mismatches between the two modules. For example, when I scan something in the EHR, there's no way to choose which provider it should be associated with it's automatically set to the first provider listed alphabetically in our practice. I reported this to support and they didn't seem able to resolve it. Also, building templates inside the EHR is pretty tricky and it would be much better if it supported podiatry specific templates.

crash-prone and no remote access

Pros

One thing about NextGen is that many of the data entry fields offer drop-down pop-up boxes where I can just select the option I need instead of typing everything out.

Cons

It feels clunky to navigate because there are so many screens and I am constantly flipping between tabs which interrupts workflow. The application also tends to crash fairly often. I cannot access it from home either, though I get that remote access is restricted to protect sensitive medical records.

Review

Pros

This has heaps of choices as far as having regions for issue list, meds, hypersensitivities, labs. There is additionally a pleasant rundown tab at the top.

Cons

At times it doesn’t seem to be user-friendly as it gets a bit complex when we’re looking for something and are unable to find it.
