Easy, private and confidential access

Pros

It is really easy to move through the electronic medical records in a way that fully preserves the level of privacy and confidential handling that is required.

Cons

Sometimes I notice the system hesitates a bit, though I don't see it as unusual for this kind of technology.

Handy features, too many windows

Pros

it has several handy features, particularly the claim section where I can directly edit and manipulate individual claims with ease.

Cons

it's not very user-friendly because there are so many separate windows, making it hard to switch between them quickly. I also find the payment and adjustment screens lacking and the batch processing system is disappointing.

Great Service for long-term use

Pros

I was compelled to use the software due to their amazing user interface 15 years ago. My main attraction is now the customization. The system is flexible and can be customized according to the preferences of every user and client. You are able to make additions that work flawlessly and access the entire database anywhere. Their greatest quality is that they grow in accordance with the fast advancing healthcare system and are adamant on providing the most up-to-date and relevant support.

Cons

Some of the time new updates have errors that werent an issue in past versions. Additionally, some sub-specialties need layouts explicit for their needs; i.e., pediatric ophthalmology must be modified by the customer to incorporate fields that each pediatric ophthalmologist needs to add.

Robust customer support and problem-solving

Pros

They provide links to different platforms and integration with other services which is a great help. Their training programs are outstanding. Costumer service staff is up-to-the-mark. The charts are amazing although it can be frustrating if you arent well-equipped with the knowledge of retrieving the required data. Once you learn the ropes, its a dream to work with. The service regarding follow-ups on wellness and administrative updates is very good.

Cons

They acquire different providers for billing, charting and other functionalities since they do not develop their own products which I think could be better if they did. It can be frustrating considering how every service we use; we have to pay an additional fee for because it has a separate provider.

Useful templates, annoying interface switches

Pros

I find the templates genuinely useful and I prefer the EMR-EDR workflow over the other systems I have tried.

Cons

The Practice Management interface really frustrates me because whenever I switch between it and another module for example EDR, it reloads all of the patient prompts back to the top seems minor at first but after a while it becomes very annoying.

Wonderful software by NextGen

Pros

I have worked with NextGen EHR seeing that 2006 and Ive seen this product did extraordinary things for the sufferers. I see the convenience of use and customization as a gain. The product is intuitive and satisfies the needs of the customers properly. The product serves nicely for our organization because of the point of interest in Community Health Centers.

Cons

Too many choices tend to be confusing. Physicians get burdened and report the charts in various ways resulting in under coding or over coding. records collection is also hard when records are driven into the system via different sources.

Highly flexible custom template design

Pros

With NextGen, I have the flexibility to design custom templates and documents to suit our workflows. I can also create and edit SQL jobs and stored procedures directly which reduces repetitive clicking and ends up saving me a noticeable amount of time.

Cons

I cannot think of any significant downsides right now, though I'd appreciate having more and better hosting options available.

Using NextGen for about a decade. Very satisfied

Pros

As we are a medical specialty, dealing with pain related issues, its crucial to get the data right which can be aside from primary care. Its important for lab integration to get reports regarding prescription issues and renewals. Its upon our shoulders to prevent misuse and reselling of medication. Customization is easy. Their support staff is kind and helpful. Their staff is very straightforward and doesnt hesitate in admitting when they cant help you and direct to a source that can the upgrades have made huge improvements since the version we started with. they have shortcuts to save time and effort where you need only hover over titles to get data previews. there is an option for patient education which is a great addition, as well as the clinical reforms. The software is user-friendly and offers ease of use.

Cons

I am overall satisfied with the system. however, the upgrade procedure could be made easier.

Reliable and easy to learn

Pros

The user interface is quite reliable and well-built. Moving through the system is simple and easy to learn too. We have gotten our staff up and running with very little training and they use it pretty well. Since it is a widely used EMR, many of our clinicians already have prior experience with it or are comfortable with its workflow.

Cons

We've faceed problems when signing notes, especially among users who aren't as experienced. This area requires a lot of precision from an IT standpoint I actually appreciate that level of control.

Used for about 7 years many issues resolved by the techs at Nextgen with a quick response.

Pros

Easy-to-use layout with minimal training required for new employees. Clear options available in the Practice Management program.

Cons

The flow of the screen is not very intuitive to the user's needs. Running reports in user notes is not possible and some options are not useful for sub-specialties.

Active user since 3011 champion for a large pediatric practice. Now in oversight position as CMIO

Pros

Access to medical records from anywhere with internet access eliminates the risk of lost charts and facilitates monitoring of clinical metrics for PCMH and ACO requirements.

Cons

There are still too many clicks required and the system speed needs improvement.

Love the flexibility to configure what is needed including exceptions

Pros

Outstanding support from helpful and available personnel including engineers and developers. Improved visibility into clinical and administrative workflow statuses.

Cons

The software works as designed but it can be frustrating how long it takes to get fixes for defects. Waiting for a fix when there is no workaround or a painful one can be challenging especially when other priorities take precedence.

A sophisticated program that when setup properly is powerful.

Pros

Highly customizable program with numerous features allowing for a tailored experience and integration with add-on products.

Cons

There are too many layers and the workflow should be more streamlined for efficiency. The numerous clicks and small checkboxes can be easily overlooked leading to incomplete tasks like saving and completing phone encounters and encounter notes.

NextGen PM is the best practice management system I have used in my 35+ years of experience.

Pros

The ability to generate customized reports for specific data and excellent accounts receivable functionality.

Cons

The upgrade process can be labor-intensive and the EHR Ophthalmology templates could use improvement in terms of provider workflow.

Have great support systems in place.

Pros

NextGen's diversity and configurability make it a robust program that can be adapted to unique specialty needs.

Cons

It is undeniably expensive and there have been costs associated with necessary components in the past. While improvements have been made it felt like there were many additional charges. As a small practice every penny counts.

Product getting better

Pros

Robust reporting capability seamless data entry into charts and integration with laboratory systems.

Cons

The software requires a significant number of clicks and windows. It would be better if the EDR was integrated rather than being a separate product.
