“Wonderful software by NextGen
Pros
I have worked with NextGen EHR seeing that 2006 and Ive seen this product did extraordinary things for the sufferers. I see the convenience of use and customization as a gain. The product is intuitive and satisfies the needs of the customers properly. The product serves nicely for our organization because of the point of interest in Community Health Centers.
Cons
Too many choices tend to be confusing. Physicians get burdened and report the charts in various ways resulting in under coding or over coding. records collection is also hard when records are driven into the system via different sources.

“Excellent reporting and data collection
Pros
I really like how it manages reporting and collects data that feature stands out as one of my favorites.
Cons
What I like the least is that there are too many windows open which makes the interface feel cluttered.

“Highly flexible custom template design
Pros
With NextGen, I have the flexibility to design custom templates and documents to suit our workflows. I can also create and edit SQL jobs and stored procedures directly which reduces repetitive clicking and ends up saving me a noticeable amount of time.
Cons
I cannot think of any significant downsides right now, though I'd appreciate having more and better hosting options available.

“Using NextGen for about a decade. Very satisfied
Pros
As we are a medical specialty, dealing with pain related issues, its crucial to get the data right which can be aside from primary care. Its important for lab integration to get reports regarding prescription issues and renewals. Its upon our shoulders to prevent misuse and reselling of medication. Customization is easy. Their support staff is kind and helpful. Their staff is very straightforward and doesnt hesitate in admitting when they cant help you and direct to a source that can the upgrades have made huge improvements since the version we started with. they have shortcuts to save time and effort where you need only hover over titles to get data previews. there is an option for patient education which is a great addition, as well as the clinical reforms. The software is user-friendly and offers ease of use.
Cons
I am overall satisfied with the system. however, the upgrade procedure could be made easier.

“Reliable and easy to learn
Pros
The user interface is quite reliable and well-built. Moving through the system is simple and easy to learn too. We have gotten our staff up and running with very little training and they use it pretty well. Since it is a widely used EMR, many of our clinicians already have prior experience with it or are comfortable with its workflow.
Cons
We've faceed problems when signing notes, especially among users who aren't as experienced. This area requires a lot of precision from an IT standpoint I actually appreciate that level of control.

“Used for about 7 years many issues resolved by the techs at Nextgen with a quick response.
Pros
Easy-to-use layout with minimal training required for new employees. Clear options available in the Practice Management program.
Cons
The flow of the screen is not very intuitive to the user's needs. Running reports in user notes is not possible and some options are not useful for sub-specialties.

“Love the flexibility to configure what is needed including exceptions
Pros
Outstanding support from helpful and available personnel including engineers and developers. Improved visibility into clinical and administrative workflow statuses.
Cons
The software works as designed but it can be frustrating how long it takes to get fixes for defects. Waiting for a fix when there is no workaround or a painful one can be challenging especially when other priorities take precedence.

“A sophisticated program that when setup properly is powerful.
Pros
Highly customizable program with numerous features allowing for a tailored experience and integration with add-on products.
Cons
There are too many layers and the workflow should be more streamlined for efficiency. The numerous clicks and small checkboxes can be easily overlooked leading to incomplete tasks like saving and completing phone encounters and encounter notes.

“Have great support systems in place.
Pros
NextGen's diversity and configurability make it a robust program that can be adapted to unique specialty needs.
Cons
It is undeniably expensive and there have been costs associated with necessary components in the past. While improvements have been made it felt like there were many additional charges. As a small practice every penny counts.

“Product getting better
Pros
Robust reporting capability seamless data entry into charts and integration with laboratory systems.
Cons
The software requires a significant number of clicks and windows. It would be better if the EDR was integrated rather than being a separate product.

“Mostly positive
Pros
Visually appealing design with a user-friendly interface and a good choice of colors.
Cons
There are some limitations but it is expected that they will be addressed in the next upgrade. The setup process can be cumbersome and certain elements should be more connected in the encounter rate library and the contracts module.

Pros
The health promotion plan feature consolidates important patient information in one place enhancing usability.
