“EHR is overall getting better.
Pros
Personally find the EHR system intuitive and easy to use although some providers may have differing opinions. Appreciate the use of tabs panels and customizable phrases and templates.
Cons
One aspect I appreciate about the EHR is its flexibility in performing tasks. However some users prefer a single method for each task and switching back and forth can confuse providers. For instance we were accustomed to using "My Plan" until it was no longer supported and we had to switch to the Orders Module. Now we're told to use "My Custom Plan" which may pose difficulties in reverting back.

“We use Next-Gen to schedule patients in a timely manner.
Pros
NextGen is easy to use and train on even for entry-level employees.
Cons
While updates and new processes are crucial some updates can be challenging to navigate. We often need to retrain employees and locate new buttons or areas to utilize certain features.

“Very robust product however our support is not as good as it should be
Pros
Once proper training is received NextGen EMR's ease of use is appreciated although reporting functionality is stronger in the EPM side compared to the EMR side.
Cons
Our support with a third-party vendor has been problematic. Pulling reports in the EMR is quite challenging.

“I appreciated that there were many different areas to review as I am a Site Director.
Pros
The availability of reports helps ensure workflow efficiency and the system's ease of use allows for identifying areas that require attention before moving forward.
Cons
I don't like that there are multiple ways to customize the software. Although it makes sense for certain organizations maximizing the product's benefits requires expertise in a specific area.

“Long time user
Pros
The user interface initially attracted me to NextGen 15 years ago and now it's the product's flexibility. Each user and provider can navigate the system in their preferred way. The ability to access the same database across the enterprise and seamlessly integrate other applications is crucial especially with NextGen's commitment to support and adapt to the evolving healthcare landscape.
Cons
Occasionally new releases introduce defects that were absent in previous versions. Additionally certain subspecialties require templates tailored to their specific needs. For example pediatric ophthalmology templates should include fields commonly used by all pediatric ophthalmologists.

“The out of the box templates are a good start to utilizing NextGen.
Pros
System customization to match workflow and streamline documentation process including configuration templates and quick save/note functionality.
Cons
The system requires too many clicks. My providers frequently discuss the excessive number of clicks needed to complete a note and there is noticeable redundancy.

“we have used the software for our Ortho practice for 10 years and it has served us well.
Pros
Ambulatory EHR offers fully customizable templates and a comprehensive set of features within the application empowering end-users to tailor their experience.

“long and constant improvement
Pros
The product constantly undergoes upgrades and receives support showing maturity stability and compliance with federal regulations.
Cons
The cost is a concern for our non-profit organization. Although we are currently funded by meaningful use this funding will eventually run out creating a challenging situation.

“We have had NextGen PM and EHR for about 8 years now and have seen it grow to become pretty robust.
Pros
Customizing templates is easy especially with our dedicated template developers who make it possible after upgrades.
Cons
One issue I would mention is the presence of bugs and known issues after upgrades. However I understand that upgrades often encounter problems and most of them will eventually be resolved.

“I was brought in and shown a computer with NextGen. I was up and running in less than a week.
Pros
The system is easy to navigate making training new employees a hassle free task and simplifying claim submission.
Cons
Reporting can be frustrating; it takes some effort to find the right parameters. Logging into each module separately is time-consuming although I understand it's for security purposes.

“overall functions are good. physicians do not like the ICD10 wording its very confusing to them.
Pros
The system facilitates medical decision management code calculation and communication between EHR and EPM. User preferences can be easily set and the EHR tasking feature is excellent.
Cons
Free-texting in the HPI and a lack of sufficient picklist options in the assessment and plan are drawbacks. Spell check is also missing.

“I've enjoyed using it. I think the flow is easy and not very complex making it smooth to work with
Pros
The system's flow is smooth with minimal clicks. The favorites feature including phrases physical exams and ROS is easy to set up and utilize.
Cons
I don't have any significant complaints; the focus should be on making it even easier to work with. That will improve providers' workflow and reduce the time it takes to see a patient.

“Good base product that will allow you to start using EHR workflows immediately.
Pros
Most features are conveniently located on one screen making it easy for staff to use. Tasking between EHR and EPM for follow-up tasks is possible as well as real-time charge capture.
Cons
We had to customize several templates for our specialty to meet our physicians' workflow needs. There are limited EHR reports but an abundance of EPM reports.
