Constantly improving

Pros

The ability to customize the system is great allowing us to make necessary changes. The PM portion is particularly impressive.

Cons

It's bothersome that many options in the software are pop-ups and reporting relies heavily on SWL.

Pros

The software's ease of use makes it ideal for training new employees and quick adoption by others.

Cons

Currently I don't have any negatives. Previously it was challenging to reach a support person but that has been resolved and now it's effortless with our dedicated support personnel.

Nextgen has been a Great overall Solution for our ophthalmology clinic.

Pros

The PM side of the system is robust and now the EHR side efficiently handles the volume of patients we see.

Cons

Simplifying customizations for the EHR product would be beneficial. More frequent upgrades with comprehensive training would also be desirable.

Pros

The autoflow process is highly beneficial for our front desk staff and the enhanced forms enable us to customize and improve efficiency.

Cons

The numerous ways to access specific areas in the patient's chart lead some users to deviate from the recommended initial training guidelines.

Pros

The integration and frequent updates make certification for meaningful use and government programs easier benefiting our ACO reporting and performance goals. It shows NextGen's commitment to growth and improvement.

Cons

There are excessive options and tabs to perform the same function or reach the same destination causing confusion.

Overall our experience has been positive. Much like any EMR we have some issues.

Pros

The practice management side is easy to use and the overall flow in the EHR side works well. NextGen's commitment to improvement and support is commendable.

Cons

Provider charting can be cumbersome initially but new solutions have significantly improved the experience.

Excellent support for any questions or concerns I have

Pros

NextGen has implemented a new success community that offers easy access for questions and their assistance with MACRA/MIPS regulatory inquiries is excellent.

Cons

NextGen lacked spell check in the system which was a long-standing complaint from our providers. However the recently released version now includes spell check.

Pros

The system is easy to use and customize with straightforward reporting and useful filter features. Significant events tracking is also advantageous.

Cons

Dealing with support can be challenging and constantly hearing that it's a known issue becomes frustrating. Known issues should be promptly resolved.

The implementation teams customer service and support teams are very robust

Pros

The availability of various platforms and the ability to interface with other products is appreciated. The support and training provided are outstanding. While the reporting capabilities are powerful retrieving data requires specific queries. NextGen's focus on compliance and regulatory updates is commendable.

Cons

Pricing is a concern as well as the reliance on external vendors instead of developing certain features in-house. For example the HQM should have a platform within NextGen instead of partnering with another vendor.

Initial training was not good but it's easy to use. Accessible anywhere at anytime.

Pros

Real-time features dashboards patient portal cloud-based software and efficient billing statement printing and payment receipt contribute to a great user experience.

Cons

Initial set-up and training availability were not satisfactory and not all information transferred during the import process.

Pros

Our current software is outdated for our practice's needs and NextGen offers all the necessary options for our facility.

Cons

Improved support during the conversion process is necessary. We engaged a third party and I highly recommend their assistance.

Pros

The integration of EHR and EDR has made working in the system effortless thanks to its simplicity of use.

Cons

There are many components to set up but that's what makes it beneficial. However we are only four months into using it.

Great way to capture client encounters!

Pros

The system is highly customizable and user-friendly allowing our specialty to easily navigate encounters and submit billing. The intuitive nature of the system and the custom content we developed greatly assist us in this process.

Cons

Archiving capabilities are lacking especially for charts with numerous encounters. Reaching a high threshold can cause individual charts to slow down.

Pros

Cons

There is a lot to learn and initial training doesn't cover everything. Insufficient time is allocated for training considering the amount of information to be absorbed.

Cons

Pros

The system now has improved functionality with fewer tabs and clicks required. The addition of more features and the ability to populate information on a single tab rather than switching between screens has made the overall experience more streamlined and satisfactory.

Cons

The OPH chart note needs improvement. It incorrectly populates the surgical history under past ocular history. Consistency in formatting alignment and font size is a concern as the note frequently switches back and forth.

NextGen is like many other EHRs with it's pros and cons but seems to really care about improving.

Pros

NextGen is highly customizable and tailored to meet the needs of FQHCs. Over the past 3-3 years the software has undergone significant improvements resulting in an enhanced user experience and improved customer support.

Cons

Additional add-ons come at an extra charge. Proper database maintenance requires IT staff and there are unresolved problems labeled as "known issues" without provided fixes.

Pros

The PM and reporting features are particularly beneficial for our practice. Generating reports is easy and the user-friendly interface is appreciated by our staff. The monitoring activity is also a valuable feature.

Cons

Integration of EDR and EPM charges is disliked. Voided codes on the PM side show as N/A on the EDR side.
