“Really good but can be complicated at times”
Pros
I find NextGen to be a complete solution and a highly customizable software. I find it especially reliable and credible because of the company that owns it.
Cons
There is not much to complain about this software except that setting it up and customizing it as per our needs is pretty expensive.

“Great for patient management”
Pros
I feel like the customization options that NextGen offers are hardly found in any other program. The templates are very useful and resourceful, and they are very easy to customize. Telehealth and other reporting tools are also up to date and pretty useful.
Cons
Overall, it has some great features and works really well but its mobile application has some limitations that can be improved.

“Care management gets really easy with this”
Pros
NextGen has excellent billing features and supports Medicare and Medicaid. Moreover the availability of different templates for various conditions makes managing my practice much easier.
Cons
I found it difficult to navigate and setup the management pages. But after setting it up in the beginning, everything becomes easy to use.

“A powerful tool for businesses”
Pros
One important feature in NextGen is the real-time updating. I am really impressed by it and it does not take me a long time to find any answers whenever a patient calls me, everything is smooth and easy now.
Cons
Honestly, I don't have anything negative to say. I thoroughly enjoy this product.

“A good option for companies of medium size”
Pros
With NextGen, I've been able to customize almost every feature to meet the unique needs of our practice, and this flexibility has been incredibly useful. It's equipped with all the standard EMR and practice management features: appointment scheduling, patient intake, charting, billing and they're all easy to access and work well together. For example, I can set up reminders, automate follow-ups, and keep track of patient interactions all in one place. It really covers everything we need, from keeping our patient records up to date to managing the financial aspects. Its a solid choice for us.
Cons
The method of customization can be quite complex at times. When they show you the demo, it seems much easier but in reality, you're responsible for doing all the work and setup.

“There is room for improvement!”
Pros
There is a need to bring more insurance used by our doctors to their network. But I really enjoy that checking eligibility and benefits is very easy with NextGen. I believe that adding more insurance options can make this system even better.
Cons
I hated it in the beginning because it felt too old-school for my taste. The visual appearance gave it an outdated and somewhat boring feel. However with time, I got the hang of it. I also noticed that it's slower compared to other EMRs out there.

“Easy to adapt but lacks a modern feel”
Pros
The best thing about NextGen is that it does not take too long to train yourself for this platform. The process is simple and navigating is not difficult at all.
Cons
In comparison to other programs I have used, NextGen is starting to feel a bit outdated. I think there are more efficient products available now and it needs to step up!

“Great inbox, buggy interface”
Pros
Well faxing directly from the EMR is pretty easy and the inbox is great and easy to work with.
Cons
My experience has been spoiled by a complicated, cluttered user interface and frequent technical glitches. For example, global memory errors when I try to fax along with persistent problems handling templates.

“great potential but unpolished and slow”
Pros
For billing I find it offers a huge set of features to work with but the interface really needs polishing since competitors like ECW and Kareo offer cleaner UIs.
Cons
The user interface could be made clearer so I can understand all the options quickly. Plus I find the performance a bit slow at times.

“A real time-saver for charting”
Pros
Using NextGen's built-in templates and macros turns charting into a simple task, saving me a huge amount of time and preventing me from lots of frustration.
Cons
I wish the system offered greater flexibility so I could customize the interface and workflows to better match my specific clinical needs. Right now the default configuration comes across as a bit too generic on several occasions.

“not that compatible with some systems”
Pros
NextGen is quite affordable, although it's important to keep in mind that you ONLY get what you pay for.
Cons
I have a lot of complaints about the billing side (revenue cycle) because they keep making mistakes and the communication is also poor. There are multiple teams handling your account, but unfortunately they don't communicate with each other which results in frequent mistakes and constant oversight from the user.
