Nowhere near the competition

Pros

The mobile app is decent. It lets you use speech recognition pretty easily though you might not enjoy working on an iPhone or iPad.

Cons

The desktop is extremely slow and I dont see how it offers any benefits compared to its competitors.

Wouldnt recommend

Pros

The patient encounter part was somewhat easy to use. Still quite heavy but at least the templates they provided made it a bit easier.

Cons

The billing process was a nightmare. We lost thousands of dollars due to it and it was expensive to have just two providers. The customer service was not cooperative either. We had to wait weeks to get vague, unhelpful responses. We finally spoke to a manager after enough complaints and they basically couldnt do anything for us. We left as soon as our contract ended.

Decent software

Pros

The filing features were easy to use with plenty of tools to help organize and separate documents that were already scanned into the system. Found it convenient.

Cons

The processing takes too long. It freezes often and takes forever to get anything done.

Falls behind others

Pros

The mobile app works fine and makes speech recognition easy to use though it's not the best experience on an iPhone or iPad.

Cons

Well the desktop version is very slow which annoys me a lot and offers no advantages over any of its competitors.

Bad choice

Pros

NextGen Office patient encounter portion was fairly user-friendly. Though it was still pretty heavy but the templates they offered helped a bit.

Cons

The billing side was a nightmare and probably cost our company thousands which is a lot for just two providers. Customer service was awful too as you would wait weeks for a vague reply that did not help. After enough complaints we finally reached a manager but they did not seem to care. So we left as soon as our contract was up.

Feels outdated

Pros

The filing tools are easy to use and give us plenty of options for organizing documents once they are scanned into the system.

Cons

The system runs very slowly, freezes often, and makes even simple tasks take much longer than they should. Overall I would say a lot of improvements need to be made.

support and onboarding problems

Pros

Prescribing worked and the setup felt fairly smooth at the beginning.

Cons

Support has been rough throughout. Onboarding was weak and the sales rep couldn't answer most of my questions. A month in, when I had more things to ask, the rep told me we'd already used up all of our hours. There's also no mobile app for on the go use. Now the rep has been unreachable for about a month while we work on shutting everything down.

could use improvements

Pros

It's nice that the system combines clinical workflows with practice management in one EMR and the integration feels pretty smooth.

Cons

It doesn't work that well for dermatology specifically. Getting through tasks isn't organized or efficient and there are a lot of extra clicks and scrolling just to find what you need.

Support here isn't reliable

Pros

Prescribing with Nextgen was super smooth right from the start. I didn't run into any issues at all, which is a big deal for me.

Cons

I had a terrible experience with support. The onboarding was awful and the rep could barely answer any of my questions. A month later, when I had more questions, the rep told me we had used up all of our hours. There's no app to use on the go and now the rep has been MIA for a month while we're trying to cancel.

Not ideal for dermatology

Pros

I love how the clinical and practice management EMR work together. It's so smooth and I don't have to worry about switching between systems.

Cons

This just isn't a good fit for dermatology. It's not streamlined or efficient at all. There are so many clicks and scrolls to get through, which makes everything feel really slow and frustrating.

pricey setup with terrible support

Pros

Does have a lot of features but the learning curve feels brutal more like being dropped into an airplane cockpit and expected to figure out how to fly without any proper guidance. honestly that approach makes the whole thing feel unhelpful.

Cons

Pricing is very high and customer service has been extremely poor which is a dealbreaker at that cost.

employee tracking is spot on

Pros

It lets me keep tabs on employees and handle care management in one place, plus the managed cloud hosting setup has been surprisingly solid for the price.

Cons

The reporting and analytics don't always come out correctly so the numbers need double checking.

user-friendly chart-to-med flow

Pros

Nextgen feels genuinely user friendly. Moving between patient charts and medication details is simple and the overall flow makes it simple to get done what you need.

Cons

Platform doesn't include a wide range of specialty areas so it can feel a bit limited depending on your workflow.

Stay away from this

Pros

There are a ton of features, which is great but it feels like someone just tossed me into a cockpit and told me to figure out how to fly. It's a bit overwhelming without proper guidance.

Cons

The price is insanely high and the customer service is beyond disappointing. I was expecting way more for what I paid.

It works well enough

Pros

I really like how it lets me track employees and manage care. plus the managed cloud hosting is a huge bonus especially at this price.

Cons

The reporting and analytics were all over the place and didn't seem accurate. I couldn't rely on the numbers, which was really frustrating.

Good solution

Pros

I've been using Nextgen for a while now and honestly, it's one of the most user-friendly systems I've ever come across. The best part for me is how smoothly everything flows together

Cons

There aren't many specialty areas available in the system, which made it hard to find what I was looking for. Definitely felt limited.

Lots of features but too many clicks

Pros

I like that NextGen offers lots of ways to customize. We have set up tailored templates that help our clinicians simplify and speed up their daily tasks. From what our team tells me, the interface feels user friendly to get around. It really comes across as simple to use tool.

Cons

We're annoyed by how many clicks are required across different screens such as managing medications which is a prime example that slows us down. My nursing staff also complains that the system forces you to have only one patient chart open at any given moment which limits efficiency.

efficient EHR

Pros

Platform covers a lot between the EHR tools and the practice management features, it feels genuinely comprehensive for managing day to day clinical and administrative work.

Cons

Getting everything set up at the beginning takes a while and can feel pretty involved especially if you're trying to configure it just right from the start.
