“There is room for improvement!
Pros
There is a need to bring more insurance used by our doctors to their network. But I really enjoy that checking eligibility and benefits is very easy with NextGen. I believe that adding more insurance options can make this system even better.
Cons
I hated it in the beginning because it felt too old-school for my taste. The visual appearance gave it an outdated and somewhat boring feel. However with time, I got the hang of it. I also noticed that it's slower compared to other EMRs out there.

“Easy to adapt but lacks a modern feel
Pros
The best thing about NextGen is that it does not take too long to train yourself for this platform. The process is simple and navigating is not difficult at all.
Cons
In comparison to other programs I have used, NextGen is starting to feel a bit outdated. I think there are more efficient products available now and it needs to step up!

“Health charting gets sorted with Nextgen
Pros
They have a great customer support. I was having a few problems while setting up the whole thing but they helped me a lot while setting up my medical chart. I am really impressed by their support.
Cons
Honestly, there is not a single con about NextGen. I really like everything about it.

“Love how user-friendly it is!
Pros
NextGen is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. Having used other systems, I can confidently say that NextGen is the simplest to use.
Cons
It is hard to review the systems because they lack customization and dont have answers to our questions.

“Great inbox, buggy interface
Pros
Well faxing directly from the EMR is pretty easy and the inbox is great and easy to work with.
Cons
My experience has been spoiled by a complicated, cluttered user interface and frequent technical glitches. For example, global memory errors when I try to fax along with persistent problems handling templates.

“great potential but unpolished and slow
Pros
For billing I find it offers a huge set of features to work with but the interface really needs polishing since competitors like ECW and Kareo offer cleaner UIs.
Cons
The user interface could be made clearer so I can understand all the options quickly. Plus I find the performance a bit slow at times.

“Fast, simple and user-friendly
Pros
It is quite user friendly and fast and when I look at the workflow it's simple too. Although I would like to see some graphical or pictorial elements added.
Cons
Sometimes the app takes a while to load and that's the main issue I have observed.

“A real time-saver for charting
Pros
Using NextGen's built-in templates and macros turns charting into a simple task, saving me a huge amount of time and preventing me from lots of frustration.
Cons
I wish the system offered greater flexibility so I could customize the interface and workflows to better match my specific clinical needs. Right now the default configuration comes across as a bit too generic on several occasions.

It is incredibly useful, particularly when posting payments, entering data and handling billing details.

“not that compatible with some systems
Pros
NextGen is quite affordable, although it's important to keep in mind that you ONLY get what you pay for.
Cons
I have a lot of complaints about the billing side (revenue cycle) because they keep making mistakes and the communication is also poor. There are multiple teams handling your account, but unfortunately they don't communicate with each other which results in frequent mistakes and constant oversight from the user.

“medical billing is no big deal now
Pros
It is very easy to use and is designed in a user-friendly way. I mainly enjoyed using the reporting function and found it pretty easy to create and share reports.
Cons
There are just too many date options which can lead to misunderstanding regarding some of the data. For example, there are transaction dates, dates of service, and dates of entry.

“Nextgen is still the best at what it does
Pros
One of NextGen's strengths is that I can easily complete patient notes during examinations without wasting time.
Cons
The only downside I've faced is related to system upgrades or maintenance performed over weekends. This occasionally leads to issues like slowness and screen freezes when we return to work on Mondays. The most recent incident occurred this past weekend but was eventually resolved on Monday, although it caused some delays.

“It has some great tools!
Pros
Some of my favorite features in NextGen are the tools for scheduling, charting, billing, and reporting they're very efficient and user-friendly which makes a big difference in my workflow. Scheduling is so easy because I can see all appointments at a glance, adjust times, and even set up recurring visits for patients who need regular follow-ups. The charting feature is also great because it lets me quickly document patient information with easy access to templates that suit different types of visits. Billing and reporting are sorted too and I can manage financial tasks without having to jump through hoops. Plus, the customization options allow me to fine-tune everything to my liking, which makes the platform feel like it's built specifically for our practice. Overall, it's been a great fit for us.
Cons
It takes some time to completely understand this system. I also find the pricing to be a bit on the higher side. Lastly, I sometimes get disappointed in the performance.

“Streamlines management!
Pros
The Practice Management features in NextGen are excellent. With two locations, I can easily view both schedules without too much work. Despite the offices being separate, NextGen makes it simple to manage.
Cons
Lately, I've been experiencing some bugs with the software, and the server hasn't been stable, resulting in slowdowns. However, I believe these issues can be fixed and improved in the future.
