“Very boring style
Pros
The software has all a dental software needs, but it's in a very old and boring style. It's okay for keeping appointments and using different colors for different practices, and okay for viewing dental situations, but it's boring and old-fashioned in terms of design and style.
Cons
NO CONS. Their assistance is readily available whenever needed. They're always attentive and accommodating, sparing me from lengthy support calls. It's definitely a valuable quality.

“Very boring style
Pros
While the software fulfills all the needs of a dental practice, the design and style feel outdated and uninspiring. It's functional for appointments, uses different colors for different practices, and provides a clear view of dental situations, but the design lacks modern appeal.
Cons
If you need assistance, they're always attentive and accommodating. You don't have to wait for hours on the phone, which is very useful.

“VERY user friendly. Great software.
Pros
We transitioned to this software after our practice was sold to a new dentist. I was very scared about changing software, but after about two weeks (without any training), we were using it like we had been for years. It's so intuitive. I was very happy with patient check-in, check-out, adding insurances, and making treatment plans. I would definitely recommend this software. I know it integrated quite easily with our existing digital X-ray system, though I wasn't involved in getting that set up. I just know the transition was very smooth.
Cons
The only issue I can recall is that our particular doctor did not provide training. I'm not sure if Open Dental offers training, but it's so intuitive that it didn't take long to figure out.

“VERY user friendly. Great software.
Pros
Transitioning to Open Dental after our practice was sold was daunting, but within two weeks (with no training), we were using it like pros. It's incredibly user-friendly. I found the patient check-in, check-out, insurance addition, and treatment planning to be very satisfying. I would highly recommend this software. While I wasn't involved in setting up our existing digital x-ray integration, I know the transition was seamless.
Cons
I can't think of any issues, except our specific doctor didn't provide training. I'm not sure if Open Dental offers training, but it's so intuitive that it didn't take long to figure out.

“DO IT
Pros
The easiest answer all day: GET OPEN DENTAL. It is the best and easiest dental software you will ever use! Seriously, listen to me. GET OPEN DENTAL. I've used Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and others, and Open Dental is by far the easiest to use. The support is AMAZING. You never hear about this with any company, but this one is great at answering questions.
Cons
There is not a single thing I dislike about Open Dental. They are a fantastic company with excellent software.

“User Friendly and Completely Customizable
Pros
Open Dental promotes itself as completely customizable, and that's absolutely correct. If there's a feature they don't have, you can pay to have it created, or if enough people vote for it, their developers will add the feature! You can run a Query (custom report) for just about any possible scenario and save it as a favorite for future use. It's incredibly intuitive; between the customer support team, online manual, and YouTube video tutorials, I felt like a pro in no time at all! I can set up additional training, and their team is always friendly and approachable. I'm very happy to have found this software at a decent price!
Cons
Their features can sometimes be time-consuming, especially when trying to locate or use them. Occasionally, things are labeled or placed in unexpected areas, or given unusual names. For instance, adding a user requires going into "security," which took me ages to find!

“Great Software at a Great Price!
Pros
The abundance of features in Open Dental, along with the option to expand with modules, convinced us to choose it for our new clinic. The network capability and flexible licensing without hefty expenses were major selling points.
Cons
The software's current lack of cloud integration prompts me to hope for an imminent transition. Embracing cloud-based security measures would significantly bolster our HIPAA compliance efforts, alleviating the need for extensive data security and backup procedures.

“Overall great software
Pros
Their extensive feature set enables us to centralize our operations. Scheduling is effortless, communication logs are easily accessible, and having imaging integrated within the same program simplifies our workflow.
Cons
My sole qualm with this software lies in its billing functionality. The amalgamation of payment plans and regular account information in statements tends to bewilder patients, resulting in a surge of inquiries.
