Most serious thing to consider when starting with Office Ally/Practice Mate as a Mental Health Professional

Pros

While Ive used Office Ally for over a decade knowing what I do now I might have chosen differently.

Cons

In recent years Practice Mate has made more mistakes such as claims not being submitted despite appearing to have been. Exporting patient notes is challenging making it difficult to transition to another software program.

Pros

Cons

Good software for a small medical office

Pros

As a onestopshop for my small practice its convenient for scheduling billing payments appointments and charting.

Cons

I dislike the limit on the number of notes and the learning curve to get started.

Fantastic Calendaring and connection to Office Ally for insurance processing

Pros

Ive used this service for nearly eight years primarily for calendar and insurance processing for patient claims.

Cons

Recent changes including extra fees for certain insurance companies have made the service more expensive. Im considering switching to another platform.

Super ease and fast do to our billing.

Pros

Its ability to save everything for billing streamlines the process and claims are processed quickly.

Cons

Billing sometimes indicates a claim was successful but the insurance claim says otherwise leading to discrepancies.

Super easy.

Pros

This system is quite easy to use, and billing has never been fast before this product. Billing with Practice Mate is so smooth, easy and great. No need to wait for claims or payments etc. Everything happens quite quickly without any worries. Claims are processed very quickly, and everything can be saved for billing, which makes it a lot more smooth. Adding patients and submitting claim, all of it is quite easy to do.

Cons

There are times when we send a claim to the insurance company, and it shows that it went successfully, but when asked upon the insurance company says that they never received such a claim for a particular date of service. This has happened more than once, well I’ve lost count to how many times it has happened, because it happens a lot.

server issues

Pros

The cost of this product is low, and the system does have a lot of great features to offer such as interfaces with lab and imaging. The system is easy to use for scheduling and their electronic medical record system is simple and easy.

Cons

They really need to do something about their servers as we constantly face issues regarding their servers. They need to upgrade their servers so that their customers are satisfied. Due to that the system slows down a lot and hangs between tasks and takes a lot of time to recover. The slowing down of the system mainly and majorly happens in peak times when it is needed the most.

Constant Server Issues

Pros

With its low cost and intuitive features including interfaces with labs and imaging scheduling and EMR are easy.

Cons

The system is consistently slow and unresponsive especially during peak times.

Has not worked as a whole system up to our expectations

Pros

Its billing capabilities are its primary strength.

Cons

Scheduling isnt userfriendly with multiple providers and there are frequent system crashes with unsaved notes. Customer service followup is poor and the Reminder Mate experience is terrible.

Great deal in therapy software

Pros

Filing insurance managing client information and the reminder service are all easy and helpful without impacting our bottom line.

Cons

Being charged for excess claims for a specific insurance provider is frustrating and the softwares operation isnt always smooth feeling somewhat outdated.

Poor service, get ready for the run around!

Pros

Despite its affordability it lacks in functionality and customer service.

Cons

Signing up for each program individually is cumbersome and programs dont communicate with each other. The process involves multiple faxing attempts and frustrating interactions with customer service. Functionality is basic and downtime is frequent.

The service is very poor

Pros

The cost of this product is low. This is the only pro I can think of, other than the price everything is really bad about it.

Cons

The system isn’t interoperable. The program that you want you have to sign up for it separately. Their customer service is not good, the functionality, the operation and everything about the system is totally not worth it. The system isn’t easy to understand either. It takes a lot of time to just search for what you need or want. The system gets very slow often and the system gets down as well and then we can’t work, we have to stop everything just because the system gives up. It isn’t a good system at all. They need to improve a lot, and in every department of their office.

A great therapy software

Pros

This software is really great for anyone who is running a therapy. Filing insurance is really easy, which is something I do like. For us, it has been really great in letting us keep track of all the client information and also the reminder service of this software is amazing. Helps a lot. This software has been a great help to our practice.

Cons

The software isn’t smooth at all time, usually gets weird. And you also get charged for having an excess claim for a particular insurance provider, which kind of doesn’t make sense.

Pros

For billing it offers an efficient clearinghouse and the technical staff is responsive to assistance requests.

Cons

In my experience this software isnt suitable for mental health documentation its tailored for medical offices and lacks flexibility.

Great Program!

Pros

Getting help and navigating the software is intuitive. Overall its an excellent program with numerous features.

Cons

Ive found the billing section to be lacking and theres no option for prescribing medication. Checking eligibility has also posed many issues.

Pros

The cost of this product is cheap, and anyone can easily get it. It is affordable. They have a clearinghouse of their own.

Cons

You can never get anything done in time, as the system is very slow. The down time of system is greater. Whenever a new feature or features are added the system kind of gets overburdened and it is hard to find things that you need. The functionality of this system isn’t that great at all. Billing cannot be done in batches. Their EMR and their practice management system wastes a lot of time when used back and forth. They need to work really hard if they want to stay in the market. They also need to upgrade their servers.
