“My go-to software for 7 years
Pros
The HIPAA compliance gives me peace of mind. Also charting is streamlined, prescribing with Dr. First is easy and I love the built-in measures. It is the best for new providers! I have even recommended Valant to others. Met Micah at NEI, who helped me customize a clinical template for my practice. Support is also great as they actually understand behavioral healthcare.
Cons
Valant releases a lot of new features which is great, but keeping up with them takes time and effort on my end.

“Tried multiple EHRs, but Valant stands out
Pros
The Adult Symptom Screener, Outcome Measures and Clinical History Form save me so much time. And instead of asking questions during a session, I already have the answers and can dive straight into the biopsychosocial aspects of care.
Cons
I am not the most tech-savvy person here, so computers in general are a struggle for me.

“Worth the investment
Pros
It is easy to use which reminds me of other intuitive software. Also I love the autonomy it gives me. The suicidal sections in the progress notes show that Valant truly understands how we work.
Cons
If they add more outcome measures it would be great. Even though for now I do like the ones that are already available.

“My favorite EMR
Pros
The good thing is that it is designed specifically for psychiatry, with built-in billing and collections. Also I love how well everything integrates. Clearly, a psychiatrist designed this.
Cons
I feel like some upgrades could use a bit more advance notice before rolling out.

“Reliable one!
Pros
Well I love that it has built-in measures and a really smooth workflow. Honestly I like everything about it as with it charting gets done in no time.
Cons
Well I am excited to hear more about AI tools and how Valant plans to improve faxing features.

“Easily one of the best out there
Pros
It makes life easier for both our providers and patients. Also the patient portal and communication tools are great and writing notes with Mobile Notes is quite simple too.
Cons
E-prescribing with Dr. First feels more complicated than it should be. Also having an approval feedback option for appointment requests would definitely help us a lot.

“A wonderful experience from start to finish
Pros
Valant EHR is easy to use, secure messaging and smooth billing. In short it is exactly what I need.
Cons
No big complaints. At first, I needed some guidance here and there but the support team was really helpful whenever I reached out.

“Love it!
Pros
One of the best EHRs for behavioral health. I have been using it for eight years now and it still delivers.
Cons
There is no way to customize note templates for intake or progress notes. Adding a measure to a note automatically puts it at the top, even above Chief Complaint or HPI. Suicide risk factors, protective factors and prevention plans could use some improvements too. I would also love to see lab integration with Quest/LabCorp to automatically add results. UX/UI is not great as Valant has frequent downtimes and occasional issues with Dr. First. My staff has noticed slow response times from customer support which takes longer than it should.

“Very happy with the service
Pros
I love seeing when clients check in for their appointments and being able to pre-document notes with the macros tab. Overall it boosts productivity big time.
Cons
Having to go into a note just to dismiss it is frustrating. It would be much easier if I could just right click and delete it.

“I really like it
Pros
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I really like how Valant simplifies my workflow. Also it is easy to access and I can pull up patient info quickly, which is important in a busy practice. Reviewing history, updating treatment plans or checking past appointments is just a few clicks away. It saves time and lets me focus more on patient care.
Cons
The Valant EHR Suite works well overall but customization could be better. Some templates and forms are not as flexible as I'd like, making it hard to customize them to my practice. Also, the system sometimes slows down when navigating complex patient records or during peak hours. These are not deal-breakers but they are areas that could definitely improve.

“Worst EHR ever
Pros
Honestly, I cannot say anything positive about Valant. The software barely works and they lock users into contracts so you cannot cancel. The worst thing is that they hold onto patient health info making it hard to transfer to another EHR. They promise features like telehealth and easy note taking, but the platform looks like it's stuck in 1985. Notes do not make sense and their helpdesk is useless. Save yourself the hassle and go for an EHR that actually works.
Cons
Valant provides no support for data transfer even with its high price tag. They use shady business tactics to lock you into a contract which makes it hard to leave. For my practice of 80, this software simply does not have the capacity to function smoothly. Maybe it works for solo practices but definitely not for groups. The templates are outdated, telehealth barely works and setting up a new patient portal is a nightmare as patients can request an appointment but can't even create their own portal. That makes no sense. On top of that, clients often struggle to pay invoices. Valant drains money while creating more problems than solutions. I would not recommend it to anyone.

“Delivers on its promises
Pros
The flexibility of changing dates and moving between tabs easily is something I like the most. Also the copy-paste function is very handy.
Cons
If a treatment plan is closed by another provider, there is no way to unlock it and complete a step to open a new one. Still dealing with an unresolved case like this.

“Valant simply works the best for me
Pros
Valant EHR software is simply excellent. I am using it for more than 10 years now and for sure it is far better than other software I used before. Also it is fairly easy to use. Plus, I can either dictate or type my notes which gives me a lot of flexibility.
Cons
It is not mainly a con but there are a lot of tabs we do not really need.

“Comprehensive EHR
Pros
The interface is highly adaptive and user-friendly. Plus navigating it is fairly easy and improves my efficiency in daily tasks.
Cons
I personally think that the smaller practices or individual practitioners might find the pricing structure a bit expensive for smaller practices and this is something that might limit their accessibility.

“I am a fan of Valant
Pros
This EHR suite is very easy for me to use and has made starting my private practice very easy. Also the formats for treatment plans, intakes and progress notes make sure that I stay compliant with insurance requirements. Overall I had a great experience using Valant EHR and I am happy that I made that choice.
Cons
I have noticed that from sometime the customer service is getting poor like they respond more slowly than before.

“Poor customer service, very difficult to navigate
Pros
Well we are very disappointed. To describe our frustration, we might have to invent a new word.
Cons
When it comes to customer service, it is simply nonexistent. Appointments are frequently missed and this happens frequently. Plus it is very difficult to use and I feel like I'm paying for something that is not at all usable.

“Best Electronic Medical Record system ever
Pros
Not only is the system user-friendly but it is pretty easy to customize too as per our specific needs.
