“Great value for money but need improvements
Pros
With Valant EHR it is easy to build schedules. Moreover look into client charts is fairly easy for us now.
Cons
There are too many tabs in the therapy progress notes that do not apply to therapists using the platform. Also the intake document is too lengthy and clients often do not complete it which leads therapists to start sessions without client history or an understanding of why the client is seeking therapy which makes them to gather all that information in one hour. I also dislike how Valant automatically redirects me to a different screen, like from Dashboard to Scheduler, instead of just opening a new window. Plus the treatment plan tool feels too complex and most therapists on my team prefer not to use it.

“Customer support is good but software is overly priced
Pros
I can access scheduling, billing and notes all on one screen. The integrated credit card processing and third-party processor (Elavon) provide detailed statements that simplify bookkeeping. Plus submitting insurance claims is easy even though it requires a lengthy setup process with Change Healthcare. And yes insurance ERA integration is ok but not perfect. Like for example registering each UHC subsidiary with Change Healthcare is a time-consuming task and I never got all my payers registered correctly. But despite this, it is reliable with minimal downtime and support is always available when I need it. Patient statements are clear and superbills are consistently accepted by payors. Plus I can integrate multiple providers and locations, which very well tracks insurance reimbursement from multiple payers across various locations. This is Valants main strength.
Cons
The system looks and feels like Windows Vista clunky and outdated. Functions are often buried under multiple drop-down menus and aren't always grouped. However, it works well enough once I get the hang of it. Plus there is a major learning curve involved, especially with billing and accounting. Even though the educational videos are detailed but are very dry and time consuming. The integrated credit card processor is pricey like an extra $2-3 per visit adds up quickly and feels like a high cost for convenience. I can't personalize notes or documents beyond the provided templates, many of which are outdated and redundant. I can add a blank tab and use third-party software like TextExpander for templates. Esignature for documents is an extra fee, which became prohibitively expensive, so I switched to cheaper third-party options like DocuSign and Adobe Sign. Note that Simple Practice offers this function for free and is over 60% cheaper! The note writer is tabbed, awkward and clunky, and I can't scroll through the whole note. The Macro option is outdated, so I use TextExpander for speed despite the extra cost. The patient portal is unreliable; patients have complained about being redirected to a portal for another practice, raising concerns about data security and HIPAA. Customizing the note-writing tool is difficult, and the options are often outdated and redundant. Templates are clunky and awkward to customize, with a tabbed interface that feels outdated. They are very click-heavy with redundant information, resulting in bloated notes that make reviewing more labor-intensive and time-consuming. Notes are only available as PDF files, making it a painful process to search through past documents. Integrated prescribing is actually a link-out to Rcopia; I can't navigate back and forth between the prescribing window and patient notes. A standalone DrFirst account costs around $650 per year, and the standalone experience is the same. It's inaccurate to call it integrated with Valant. The mobile app feels like an HTML throwback with limited functionality, making it nearly unusable. Notes become PDFs upon signing, which makes searching or quickly reading past notes very difficult I have to open each PDF individually rather than scrolling through text. The system is very expensive double the cost of some competitors, with $300+ per provider plus additional costs for Rcopia, electronic document handling, and patient reminders. It gets very costly very quickly. Unless I handle many insurance claims or manage claims across multiple locations and providers, it's hard to justify the high price. There are cheaper alternatives, like Simple Practice, which offers comparable functionality for a third of the price, even accounting for third-party e-prescribing services. The display of patient age seems minor but becomes a major annoyance. It's only shown on the patient record screen, so I have to click through additional screens in a new tab when not writing or prescribing. This small inconvenience adds up over time and becomes quite bothersome.

“Umm gets the job done - nothing extraordinary
Pros
I really like how the screeners are implemented into the intake notes. Also the patient portal when it functions work as it is advertised.
Cons
I cannot prevent patients from requesting appointments within a 24-hour or 48-hour window. Moreover each update brings functionality errors. Plus customer service is never available on time, and the set up process is simply the worst. Things were not done as promised and it became impossible to reach the implementation specialist.

Cons
You need time to learn and use it properly but I guess this is the case with every EHR.

“Crucial EHR for my practice
Pros
I learned about Valant years ago with another practice before their I/O product went live. The best thing is that this current version has addressed all the quirks of the previous one which makes basic functions very easy and simple to use.
Cons
Some features in the package are useless to me still I have to pay for them just because they are included in the package. And among them there are few features which I barely use. And to be honest I am not thrilled about paying an annual subscription in addition to monthly service fees.

“Better than many other platforms
Pros
Valant's interface is highly user-friendly and very easy to use as it allows me to keep everything in the system. Also the customer service is great and easy to work with whenever I need help.
Cons
I feel like I must purchase another system for claims management. But it will become very expensive and also difficult for me to manage between both systems at once.

“Saves time and improves productivity
Pros
The streamlined process of posting ERA (Electronic Remittance Advice) compared to manual inputting significantly reduces the administrative burden on users. This efficiency translates to time savings, enabling users to allocate their resources more effectively and focus on other critical aspects of their work.
Cons
Adding modifiers can be time-consuming, and certain reports are not as user-friendly as I'd like.

“I'd expected the software to be more user-friendly
Pros
The mobile notes are highly beneficial and perform effectively.
Cons
I have a few suggestions for improving the user experience, such as maintaining consistent tab placement, providing easier access to open charts while using Mobile Notes, implementing a search function for quicker access to specific needs, and streamlining medication access in Rcopia.

“Good product for MH but could be better
Pros
Valant offers a good range of features for its cost, integrating appointments, notes, and billing into one system.
Cons
Since the introduction of the new platform a couple of years ago, I've noticed a decline in speed. It seems that Valant is prioritizing the addition of new features over optimizing core functionalities.
