“Clean interface but limited reporting”

Pros

The user interface is amazing so end users can work with it without much trouble.

Cons

Making changes to reports on the fly is challenging and not very flexible.

“Powerful quote to cash platform”

Pros

Having everything in one system really helps with my day to day Quote to Cash process from planning and jobs to shipping and invoicing. The MRP and Application Studio features are especially valuable and make a big difference in how I manage my workflow. Even though the upgrade from version 10.1 to 2024 was tedious because of our extensive customizations, I am still very pleased with where things ended up.

Cons

One thing that's frustrating in version 2024.1 is that there isn't a easy way to disassemble a product and return its components back into raw stock. The migration itself was pretty involved and moving from 10.1 to 2024 took a lot of effort because of how heavily customized our setup was. Getting everything to fit back into the standard framework required a significant amount of work.

“dashboards, plus customization are great”

Pros

One of the best parts of Epicor Kinetic is how flexible it is when it comes to customization especially for building dashboards and tailoring business processes. The updatable dashboards are really useful because they make data entry across multiple lines much faster, cut down on repetitive manual work and help maintain data integrity by reducing entry mistakes. Being able to personalize data views without much hassle is another feature I really appreciate.

Cons

A few limitations still stand out. Some grid views especially on certain landing pages, do not support copy and paste which can be frustrating. It would also be very helpful to have a mass update option on landing pages like job entry and sales order entry since some of those fields already appear in the data views. On top of that the initial setup felt fairly drawn out because of the number of configuration decisions that had to be made.

“Quick navigation wins”

Pros

Being able to jump to almost any screen with a right-click has saved a lot of time when I need to look up things like a PO, production job, packing slip and more. The personalization options are another big plus. Getting everything set up in the beginning was fairly easy and that usability has been a real benefit for our team.

Cons

One thing I am disappointed by is the missing three way match for invoices. We paid for that solution but we don't actually use it because that feature isn't included.

1.0

“way too complex”

Pros

Information is there and if someone knows exactly where to dig, they can usually find what they need.

Cons

For a small business this system is far too complex and that leads to accidental mapping issues and unexpected results. It has not felt like a reliable business partner at all. Once you're locked in, getting out is extremely difficult. On top of that prices keep going up and the product is changed regularly without much support, leaving users to sort out the impact themselves and rework their operations around whatever new parameters were introduced.

“web based visibility wins”

Pros

Having it web based has been a big plus especially when I need to drill into specific information quickly. I can open multiple tabs with related details and move between linked records which makes everything much easier to visualize and follow.

Cons

The reporting side could still use some improvement.

“Helpful inventory control”

Pros

We use it for inventory and purchasing in our manufacturing business and it does a good job of helping us avoid both overstocking and stockout issues. The part I like most is the user friendly interface which makes it pleasant to work with.

Cons

On our side getting MRP runs to complete without errors has been a challenge. It would also be better if updates happened faster when making on the fly changes.

“Easy to use!”

Pros

Right away the user friendly interface made this software pleasant to work with. The customization options are another big plus especially now that more of it can be done with drag and drop. On top of that the initial setup process was very easy.

Cons

Some screens do take a while to load. For example when I open Job Tracker, it can take around 30 seconds.

“Fast learning, helpful search”

Pros

Getting started with it was quick and the system is easy to pick up. The search feature is especially helpful since new users often are not sure exactly what they need to look for. The help screens have also been very useful along the way.

Cons

Product development has been the tougher area for us. We handle project design and filtering in a very specific way and because many of our designs are variable, the user ends up making a lot of the decisions. The initial setup was also challenging due to the number of customizations we needed.

“Inventory control that delivers”

Pros

Being able to instantly see what needs to be ordered and exactly when it's needed has been a big advantage. The system handles on the fly changes well which helps keep our production lines supplied without forcing us to carry excess inventory.

Cons

A major downside is the frequent downtime whenever the MRP run fails and that ends up hurting production.

“BAQs make reporting shine”

Pros

It didn't take much effort on our part to use which was a big plus. The BAQs have been very effective for us and we depend on them for building a lot of reports and automating plenty of others. We had a few early hurdles around stakeholder buy-in but the initial setup itself was simple and once everyone was fully on board, the transition went very well.

Cons

The new automated studio still seems a bit complicated at times. It would be even better if there were a way to simplify it.

“has a room to improve”

Pros

The tool is pretty easy to use and that simplicity has been one of the better parts of the software.

Cons

Its inventory functionality could definitely be better and getting everything set up in the beginning took a bit more effort than I expected.

3.0

“not very easy to use”

Pros

Closing financials takes a fraction of the time now and that has had a huge impact on my day to day work. We used to need around 45 days to finish the close and with this system we have cut that down to just 15. The connection between finance and operations has also been very valuable and the data side of the platform has been another real benefit.

Cons

Getting around the system is not very user friendly especially for someone new because you really have to understand the process before it makes sense. It's also frustrating that if certain menus aren't run, you cannot complete the close. On top of that the initial setup was challenging and the onboarding process ended up taking two years.

“simple all in one interface”

Pros

The interface is well designed and having everything together in one system is really convenient.

Cons

The software works well overall but it does run into some performance problems. Once there's too much customization, the system gets very slow. There's also limited visibility into the backend and the initial installation was fairly difficult.

“Easy web based interface”

Pros

Its web based UI is user friendly and still has a Windows-style familiarity which makes it comfortable to work with.

Cons

Well the support teams feel disconnected from one another and the transition from E9 is difficult.

“Useful learning opportunities”

Pros

The tool does give you more chances to learn different third-party programming methods for running and building processes. Beyond that though there isn't much else that stands out to me. I am not really a big fan of it overall and I honestly don't see much reason to move to this update.

Cons

One thing that makes it frustrating is how oversized the form layout looks. There's way too much scrolling just to locate what you need and having to keep opening tabs to view basic information seems hard. The forms really should be tighter and organized so the related data is all in one place. Spacing the fields out this much just is unnecessary and all the extra scrolling is something nobody I have spoken with seems to enjoy.

“Best fit ERP for SMBs”

Pros

Among ERP options for SMBs, this still stands out as the best choice. No ERP system is flawless but its flexibility and strong partner ecosystem make it much easier to handle unique business requirements.

Cons

The shift to web based UX and the cloud has been rough for ERP vendors and this product hasn't been exempt from that. Keeping ERP performance running well for end users seems more complicated than ever and I still hear plenty of horror stories about web interface speed and reliability.

“Faster searches win”

Pros

The landing pages make searching much simpler with far more filter options than Classic ever had without needing to build a BAQ search. The web view is also dramatically faster than Classic was and the difference is very noticeable.

Cons

On a few screens though it now takes more clicks to finish certain tasks than it used to. I am pretty sure my users are going to push back on that.

“Modern UI plus strong integrations”

Pros

Its interface looks professional and user friendly overall more like using a website or a Microsoft product than a traditional ERP. Also it offers plenty of API-based integrations and they keep expanding the ecosystem by partnering with other providers and adding more options to the platform. Lately there's been a clear push toward bringing AI into the product line as well. We're subscribed to Prism for AI although we haven't had the opportunity to put it into use yet. Onboarding and support can be a bit hit or miss so there are times when you really have to push to make sure your organization gets what it needs. Pricing feels pretty comparable to other systems in this space for the value you get. On the performance side since we moved to the cloud version, uptime has been around 99% with only one real issue.

Cons

One recurring frustration has been the slow response from support along with the limited investment from our CAM and what feels like a disconnect between the sales, licensing and support teams.

“Flexible customization that delivers”

Pros

The system can be customized really well to match specific business needs using BPMs, functions and tools like BAQ Reports and Personalization.

Cons

A more smooth connection with banking systems would be a big improvement. Features like AI receipt OCR to read receipts and automatically enter bills into the financial system would cut down a lot of the manual effort involved right now. Automatic bank reconciliation would also add a lot of value especially since many other software platforms already include it in their core financial features.
