Drone Mapping

With SkyMap, aerial captures from drones are processed into orthomosaics, DSMs, and point clouds, all within a georeferenced environment. Combining aerial and ground data lets teams compare, analyze, and act on site conditions while aligning results with BIM for better project control.

3D model sharing

Pros

One thing I really enjoy is being able to share a 3D or VR model with other users. Recording images with a 360 camera makes it fairly simple to create those models.

Cons

The software is great overall but if I had to point out a downside, it would be that it takes a fairly long adjustment period before you can use all of its features confidently.

interactive walkthroughs

Pros

Getting started with Cupix feels very beginner friendly because the interface is clear and simple so creating virtual tours doesn't require previous experience. It also gives plenty of flexibility to customize each tour by adding interactive elements like tags, descriptions and media which makes the final result more engaging and informative for viewers.

Cons

A limitation is the technical setup needed to get the best results from Cupix. To use it properly, you may need specialized hardware such as a high-quality 360-degree camera and that can increase the overall cost quite a bit.

tracks construction progress

Pros

Using BIM in construction without CupixWorks almost feels pointless. The platform makes it much simpler to compare actual site conditions with planned BIM data or as-built BIM models. It is also very useful for tracking construction progress since you can quickly tell exactly where each photo was taken. Another big advantage is remote access which lets users review the site from far away while still feeling almost like they are physically there.

Cons

Capturing large numbers of 360-degree photos on a construction site still takes a lot of effort. For one project, I had to take around 800 photos over two hours every month. The results were very good but it does require a certain level of skill to choose the right photo locations and handle the process properly.
