Software our Company couldn't be without

Pros

All users, from our office team to engineers, value Commusoft. The history and notes feature saves engineers time, and managing the calendar is simple. The integration with our accounting software is an extra advantage.

Cons

Notifications only delete for one person, not everyone assigned, making the process longer when clearing your own notifications.

Great software but if you leave your stuffed

Pros

The software offers many excellent features. Once familiar with the menus, productivity improves. As a small business, it was effective for updating and planning engineer jobs. Integration with QuickBooks was seamless.

Cons

When Commusoft was linked to QuickBooks, it doubled every customer. Commusoft fixed it, but I still have many deleted customers. Response to issues was slow without the premium plan. As a small business, I lost my engineer and was a sole trader, but Commusoft wouldn't reduce the charge for one user, so I paid for two. When I decided it wasn't cost-effective, we left Commusoft, and all databases were deleted. Some data files were sent to us in computer data format without detailed customer information. I lost thousands on missed gas certificates since leaving, with no help to recover client data.

Commusoft has revolutionise the way we work

Pros

Since December 2019, Commusoft has streamlined our office operations with six engineers on various jobs. It has reduced time spent on diary management and invoicing while building comprehensive property histories. No more lost certificates, everything is stored in one place and integrates well with Xero. The training and setup support made the transition during our busiest period smooth. It's worth every penny.

Cons

Some tasks, like sending an invoice, require too many clicks.

Recommending Commusoft

Pros

It's simple for both office staff and field engineers.

Cons

The cost per office user is too high. Changing the headers is not simple; I can't understand why you can't just upload a logo and enter text for your company address. Uploading a logo only allows the company telephone number to appear on the right of the invoice.

Happy with our decision

Pros

Switching from cheaper options to this software was absolutely worth it and we'll be sticking with it. All of our engineers really enjoy using the app and it's much simpler for everyone to work with. Being able to keep photos, videos and certificates attached to each job is a big plus. The estimating and invoicing tools are excellent as well and the integration with our accounting software has been really valuable.

Cons

The only thing I'd really like to see added is a refresh button in the app since there can be a bit of lag at times.

Template-based estimates save time

Pros

Using templates to build estimates cuts down the time I spend writing them up.

Cons

The estimate and invoice layouts don't offer much room for personalization but they still get the job done.

Support team is always available

Pros

It has been very simple overall and the system is convenient to work with. The support team is also available when needed which makes a big difference.

Cons

The card and account integration could be better and some of the certificates are a bit awkward to use.

Organizes everything

Pros

Real-time engineer visibility

Pros

Essential for my operations

Pros

After getting familiar with the system, it becomes very simple to use day to day and feels quite user-friendly. I honestly don't think we could manage the Minor Works department without it. The job histories and notes section have been incredibly valuable and the engineers usually have no trouble at all using the mobile app. Another big plus is how open the Commusoft team is to feedback on areas or features that may not suit your business and they respond very quickly to questions, whether by email or over the phone.

Cons

One thing I do miss from the older version of Commusoft is the ability to merge properties. Sometimes a tenant is accidentally created as a customer instead of being added as a work address under the estate agent so the merge function used to be really helpful for fixing that. Also, reporting feels a bit inconsistent because on some reports you can open the job directly, while on others you can't.

Helps us grow

Pros

The live diary has been a huge help. Adding a new engineer and assigning work in real time is really simple and our expansion genuinely wouldn't have been possible without it.

Cons

Nothing to complain about. It helped move our business from pen and paper to a fully paperless way of working without any hassle.

Cost-effective tool

Pros

It's simple to use, budget-friendly and keeps all job details in one place. Communicating with customers is also almost automatic which saves a lot of time.

Cons

The vehicle tracking system is unreliable and custom forms like certificates are expensive. It also feels limiting when it comes to adding new features and there's no CRM or skip logic.

Better accountability and job tracking

Pros

Now no invoices slip through the cracks and it gives the engineer much better accountability. We can also pull up previous jobs for a property really quickly which has been very impressive.

Cons

A few areas still need some fine-tuning. We've submitted quite a lot of alteration requests but they usually never seem to get implemented so we've had to come up with workarounds for some smaller bits.

Helpful reports

Pros

Everything feels very simple to use and the reporting is incredibly helpful for seeing clearly what has and hasn't been done.

Cons

It would be really useful to have a way to assign a job to a subcontractor and email the job sheet directly to them.

Broad range of features

Pros

Automatic syncing is one of the best parts of this app. It's very simple to use and it comes with plenty of useful features that make business management much simpler.

Cons

There's still room for improvement when it comes to reporting. It would be better to have more options for creating and downloading detailed financial reports and the dashboard reports feel quite basic right now and could use better color choices.
