Pros

This software is an excellent choice for companies that want to streamline their processes and eliminate the need for physical paperwork. It provides a comprehensive solution for managing documents and communications digitally, helping businesses achieve greater efficiency and reduce their environmental footprint.

Cons

HCP is shifting its focus towards marketing. Pro clients are no longer the target audience; now, the pros are the "Product" and the new target is warranty companies. There's no quick way to search for jobs and clients from the main page using keywords. Features that make sense on a Google platform are dismissed in the HCP boardroom. My main gripe: emails to clients are sent from HCP, and the pros don't even get a copy. This means there's no traceability compliance. When an invoice is created and sent, the job isn't locked up and can be edited after the client is billed. The office never sees what the client gets sent, and HCP can't retrieve it for you. I'm told emails are lost after seven days.

Pros

HCP's scheduling feature is solid, making it easy to view a week and adjust resources. However, it could benefit from a rolling week view instead of the current Monday-to-Friday setup. The scheduling function is HCP's standout feature. I hope they don't change it or follow the lead of other software companies with poor scheduling options.

Cons

It's impossible to use HCP to create legally binding contracts; you have to use DocuSign or another app. Invoicing can't be customized; it's based on line items and can't be summarized. You can't customize messaging, and invoices end up being frustrating for customers on large multiday jobs. You can't create and save your invoice letters. Integration with QuickBooks is a daily hassle, and the search function is a real problem with the new release. There's no logic to how jobs and estimates are stored in HCP. They call "jobs" invoices. Imagine getting an HCP "invoice" before the job has even started , very confusing for customers and employees until you get used to it. This is suited for a tiny business or a team with no software experience.

What were they thinking?!?

Pros

The product does what it's supposed to do, scheduling jobs, invoicing customers, and maintaining a detailed database of interactions. There are some limitations and glitches, and support is average but available. I've been a fan for years and have recommended it to several businesses, though I'm not doing so anymore.

Cons

If you grow from five to six employees, watch out , it's time to switch to another software provider, in my opinion. The pricing plan allows up to five employees for one set price. Keep in mind one of those five employees is your office staff, so you really only get four field techs. If you add a sixth employee, your HCP monthly price more than doubles. You can't just add one employee to their mid-tier plan; you have to move to the high-tier plan. You can purchase two of the mid-tier plans for less than the price of their high-tier plan ,this is just so ill-conceived! Last year, we could add an extra employee for a set fee, which was very reasonable. When that employee quit, we went back down to five, so we were unaware that in June 2022, they changed this, eliminating the ability to add an incremental employee without jumping to the next tier. I'm gobsmacked by how wrong this move was on their part. The whole point of this software is to help you grow your business, but apparently, as soon as you do grow, they punish you for it! Additionally, their search function for the "pricebook" leaves a lot to be desired. If you type in a keyword like "flange" and have multiple items with that keyword in the description, you'd expect all the items to appear. They don't. Only some do. No rhyme or reason to it. Uploading photos from the field is dodgy and slow. Reports available are unreliable and inaccurate.

Worst Business Software I have ever used

Pros

This software is terrible. Despite its promising features, it's incredibly glitchy, and saved invoices often disappear. Customer service claimed I manually deleted items I didn't, offering no solution for the lost billable work.

Everything. It's terrible software. All the functions sound great and useful, but the software doesn't function properly. It's super glitchy, and saved invoices just disappear. Customer service told me I manually deleted missing items that I didn't delete and offered no solution to thousands of dollars of missing billable work.

Incompetence is Damaging my Business

Pros

When it works, it works well with minimal issues. However, when it works is not good enough.

Cons

The support team has only ever responded to issues with inconvenient manual workarounds. Their customer import doesn't work, so I have to send the report to an email, and they upload it on their end, but they can't guarantee how long it will take or how my notes and other fields will import. There's no option to add custom fields to jobs or accounts. Several bugs and issues go unacknowledged for days and then take days to fix, disrupting my business flow and causing errors for my customers. The last two days, there have been 15-30 minute waits just to get a reply to a support chat.

Buyer Beware

Pros

Integrating this software with QuickBooks was a smooth and uncomplicated process. The setup was intuitive and well-guided, making it easy to connect and synchronize data between the two platforms. The integration didn't require a lot of technical knowledge, and I found the instructions to be clear and straightforward, allowing for a seamless connection that enhanced our accounting workflow.

Cons

This system works well for someone who sits at their computer and has a lot of time to message back and forth with support for a couple of days to resolve an issue, if you can get a resolution. They prefer to give you options that take more time away from running your company so they don't have to change or evolve the system to make things more efficient and provide all the information you need. For the last year and a half, I've been dealing with this company, and I'd rather call my cable or cell phone company than deal with their support team. They don't have a phone number for quick answers or responses. They also don't offer email integration with your domain, which most other software companies do when offering a web domain. They won't change anything you suggest, even though they say they listen. Listening and doing are two different things. This company has set my business back due to their unwillingness to evolve. Truly check around; other companies might charge more, but I wish I had seen this review before signing up because the extra money would have saved a lot of wasted time, and time is money. They don't care about your time.

EXCELLENT

Pros

HCP is incredibly easy to use with an intuitive layout. In contrast to ProjX360 and D-Tools SI, which required extensive setup and a steep learning curve, HCP was user-friendly from day one. New employees quickly adapt, and the customer service is exceptional, they always resolve issues, often with follow-up research. The contact button on the screen is convenient compared to other software where finding customer service can be a hassle.

Cons

I would like to see more integrations, and there are small things I'd change here and there, but I know that's hard since the software covers so many different industries. A better way to pull reports would be especially good.

Great addition to our small business.

Pros

Automated text messages within the app. 2. Start and finish times available in the app. 3. There's always something new to learn and integrate into your system. I'm excited to explore new apps and features. 4. Customer service chat responses are excellent and helpful. 5. Review toggle. 6. Pro Talks provide valuable time for business success. 7. Every account change is documented. 8. The app's dashboard snapshot of ongoing or completed activities is great.

Cons

The way the notification stays active when a customer sends you a video message. 2. Sometimes, the customer's address doesn't load properly on the maps within the app; it seems to work intermittently. 3. When texting a customer using the HCP-provided number within the app, if you click outside the message box, you can't get back in to move around. Sometimes, if you wait too long, the message disappears. We've resorted to texting ourselves and then copying and pasting. 4. It would be helpful to have a reminder on the dashboard to snail mail invoices when a client doesn't have an email. 5. You can't copy and paste from the text messaging portion within the app, like for following up on a previous text. 6. To search for a phone number or customer on the desktop browser, I have to click within the customer tab. I wish there was a search bar within each tab on the dashboard. 7. I wish there was a way to toggle the reviews within the app with administrator access, not tech access. Sometimes, when turning on and off the reviews on your smartphone, it opens the app automatically when Safari is clicked unless you delete the cookies. 8. A follow-up button with an automated email in a customer's account on the estimate page would be helpful, showing the follow-up date and time and maybe not allowing you after so many attempts.

Housecall Pro changed my life!

Pros

Being able to track time, movement, KPIs, reviews, payments, scheduling, etc., is incredibly powerful!

Cons

There are some features that other industry juggernauts have that this software doesn't, but I am confident they will get there, and I'm happy to have gotten in at basically the ground floor.

Housecall Pro Rocks

Pros

This software unites our entire company. It handles all our scheduling needs and consolidates information in one place. Access from mobile devices is a huge plus! Our company wouldn't be where it is today without Housecall Pro.

Cons

There are a few features missing that could make some delegations a bit easier, but eventually, when enough people request this option, they will add and integrate it into the software.

Great functionality!

Pros

The best feature of this program is its simplicity. Learning new functions is quick and easy. Customer support is great and resolves issues efficiently. It's fantastic to have such a comprehensive program with all essentials in one place.

Cons

There's not much to dislike. The program is always updating features. They always take suggestions, which is nice. If you want to see something, it's usually there within a few months.

Best process/program out there!

Pros

New employees pick it up quickly! They appreciate how accessible it is for those who are not tech-savvy. Customers also enjoy the ease of bill payments, tracking our arrival, and seeing progress. We've gained consistent reviews after every job!

Cons

I would like to see more options for pulling data and generating sales, total sales, and estimated sales for each month, maybe a comparison graph of where you are now compared to last year or last month. The graphs and data I can pull now are good, but it would be even better to gather more since this is all I use for the business. Another thing would be making it less complicated. For example, if I want to compare sales in the business right now (we detail and pressure wash), I was told I would need to go back and make sure each job had a job tag and then identify it by one other thing that I can't remember. Sometimes job tags are forgotten when entering customer information on the spot, but now I try not to forget them. Overall, having a graph that could pull data without needing to tag this and add that would allow me more time for other business items that I never seem to have enough time for.

Scheduling jobs is good, but there are issues with it I'll discuss later. Pay attention, as this feedback could greatly benefit your business. I have marketing experience and know what can go wrong from previous dealings with other marketing companies. Please consider my points to avoid future losses and stay ahead in the industry. Your proactive approach is commendable, but please read my review carefully. Thank you!

Cons

I think this app needs work. For example, finding existing customers is almost impossible, even though I know they're in the Rolodex. It shows that it's a previous customer, but how do you look that person up in the Rolodex? It's virtually impossible. I get lucky occasionally, but I've given up. Another problem is I paid $50 for a credit card swiping product that doesn't work, and I don't get the text messages. If HouseCall Pro had a live person to talk to, I could figure out a lot more, but it doesn't seem to exist. I was once in contact with an support team, but they dropped the ball. Now I have no one to talk to. Another thing is when you talk to people, you should automatically get emailed a customer representative review so representatives do a better job and try their best. For example, Angie's List representatives always had a chip on their shoulders even though they were a review company and never reviewed themselves. I watched them go from nine hundred million dollars to almost a billion dollars, down to five hundred million dollars, and sold out for 550 million dollars, all because no one would listen to their business partner, Scott Watkins. I have many entrepreneurial ideas and am soon retiring from carpet cleaning to become a multi-millionaire. It would be in HouseCall Pro's best interest to listen to my advice; I have a degree in marketing.

Love HouseCall Pro

Pros

HCP has made managing my business much simpler. It effectively replaces a part-time employee with its capabilities. The digital scheduling is excellent, and the text and email reminders look very professional. Customers frequently comment on how much they appreciate the communications (mostly automatic). The invoicing is clear, and the credit card payment link helps keep accounts receivable low. Everything is just a click away, and very straightforward. Their customer service is outstanding they respond within minutes and provide precise answers. Even if a feature isn't available, they submit requests for future updates. Overall, it's the best software I've used in 20 years of business.

Cons

Some features don't exist yet, but I've found workarounds for all of them. For example, you can't send out a broadcast marketing email to your customer base. However, you can easily export your client list to do it through another platform. You can easily send out a custom postcard to your client list through HCP, and it can even be automatic. Since it's cloud-based, if I don't have cell service or Wi-Fi, I can't access any info or process any invoices, etc. This is a limitation.
