Online scheduling that delivers!

Pros

I switched to this software mainly because I needed online scheduling and that feature has worked really well for me. It was a priority from the start and it has been effective.

Cons

There are a lot of useful tools included. It works as a full contact management platform, with invoicing, scheduling and client tracking all built in.

Excellent value for money

Pros

Considering the price, it comes with a lot of useful features. The customer support has been excellent and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to get help. I also haven't run into many system problems, bugs or coding-related issues. Scheduling clients is simple and handling invoices and payments is very convenient. As a small business, quick payment processing matters a lot so the same-day payment transfers are a huge plus. It also includes several security features for logins and other account protection.

Cons

Some extra functionality costs more especially things like price books, CRM features and using the camera for job site photos.

top-notch customer service :)

Pros

The support team has been really reliable. The training was solid and anytime I had a question, I was able to get an answer quickly. Having scheduling and payment processing together in one system is a big advantage for me since I don't have time to bounce between different apps while working in the field.

Cons

The biggest downside is the price since it costs a bit more to get started with than some other software options. I've used it before with another company and have also worked with a different platform for my own business. I definitely prefer Housecall Pro but at the moment it just isn't quite in my budget.

Limited reporting functionality

Pros

It is pretty simple to use and it doesn't take much training to get someone comfortable with the system. Scheduling is simple, customer information is quick to pull up and reports are readily available when needed.

Cons

Reporting is where it falls a bit short. While it's easy enough to generate reports, pulling the exact data you need can be frustrating. I usually have to export everything into Excel and spend extra time sorting and filtering to get the details I'm actually looking for.

love the ability to message customers directly

Pros

Being able to message customers directly has been really useful and the invoicing feature makes it convenient to collect deposits and payments from them as well.

Cons

The pricing runs a little high compared to other software and they also charge extra for just about every add-on feature.

Friendly interface

Pros

Right from the start the interface felt very user-friendly. It included a lot of the features we were originally looking for and using the system was simple overall.

Cons

It didn't offer quite enough customization for the way our business operates. On top of that, customer service declined over time and features we had gotten used to either started disappearing or came with added charges.

Unreachable support and broken promises

Pros

One thing they stay on top of is contacting you when they want to sell you the newest product but when an actual problem comes up, getting ahold of anyone is a different story.

Cons

I was promised a $100 gift card for joining a Zoom call and I did everything asked of me. I even bought a plan for the second time. Still, I never received the gift card and every department kept telling me someone would get back to me that week. That was two months ago and nothing has happened.

Responsive team

Pros

It has been a big help for our office and has simplified a lot of our day-to-day work. We rely on it for billing, scheduling, vehicle tracking and keeping up with customer information. The customer support team is responsive and helpful and it offers solid value for the price.

Cons

At times new features get rolled out without much notice which can create a bit of a learning curve when buttons or tools get moved around.

Too complex

Pros

Honestly it's hard for me to point to many positives because the system never felt very user-friendly. I struggled quite a bit trying to get used to how it worked and overall it just wasn't something I enjoyed using.

Cons

Getting everything set up was frustrating. At the time, the program had limited options and it definitely wasn't something you could set up quickly and start using right away.

Amazing bulk messaging feature

Pros

Getting to customer profiles is quick and pulling reports across multiple jobs is really helpful. The bulk messaging feature is also a big plus when I need to reach a lot of customers at once.

Cons

It feels a bit restrictive when it comes to building custom reports and it would be even better if commissions were calculated automatically instead of needing that as an added feature.

Cons

Simple to schedule jobs

Pros

Scheduling jobs for the team is simple, the invoice history is well organized and syncing invoices with QuickBooks is very useful. It's also really good for collecting and keeping client home details in one place.

Cons

There's no way to set custom schedules for each staff member based on their individual availability. It also doesn't let you manage holiday scheduling or related time-off settings properly.

love the private notes section

Pros

The red outline on unpaid invoices is really helpful and makes them stand out right away. Scheduling appointments is simple and the private notes section was a feature I really appreciated.

Cons

I can't shorten calls directly by dragging them on the schedule without having to reschedule the appointment.

Payments through the app

Pros

Running a blue-collar service business with this product has been a really positive experience. Being able to take payments right through the app is a huge plus. Once you spend a little time getting used to it, the system feels very user-friendly and does a really nice job of keeping all my client information organized.

Cons

My only real concern was the monthly pricing based on what I personally needed for my business. It's not that the value isn't there but as a one-person operation, it came with more features and extras than I actually needed. I can definitely see it being much more worthwhile for companies with more than two employees especially for staying organized with scheduling and building daily routes.

Customer-friendly and professional look

Pros

It felt very customer-friendly and helped us present a much more professional image.

Cons

It wasn't particularly helpful for quoting moves and it didn't include furniture in the listings. On the dumpster rental side, drivers also couldn't check inventory in and out through the system.

Reasonably priced software!

Pros

It has been very user-friendly for our team and it brings a lot of useful tools together in one platform. They also keep improving it by adding new features on a regular basis, at least every quarter. On top of that, it's priced very reasonably compared to other similar software options.

Cons

There are times when I wish it offered a bit more customization to better match our specific needs. I'd also like to see a stronger routing option although it seems like they're actively working on improving that.

Helpful for office and field teams

Pros

It does a good job of letting us enter important details that support both the office staff and the field technicians.

Cons

The time sheet options still feel limited and need more choices especially for things like PTO and breaks. Also even though property profile details can be added and linked to a job, that information doesn't carry over to the invoice.

Feature-packed solid option

Attentive and patient staff

Wasted time and false promises

Pros

Their sales team comes across well even though they don't seem to fully understand the limitations of the product they're selling.

Cons

It ultimately did not deliver what was promised and we lost a lot of time trying to make it fit our needs. When it became clear it couldn't do what they claimed during the sales process, they still did not offer any refund.

Broad set of features

Pros

Within about half an hour, I had the software up and running in my business. It comes with a lot of useful features that really support my operations. The invoicing process is simple and customers can conveniently pay straight from the link they receive by email.

Cons

Housecall is awesome

Pros

So far, things have been pretty good. The customer support is top-notch.

Cons

No Purchase Orders (P.O.'s) allowed here! This system does not support or facilitate the use of purchase orders in any capacity, which is quite limiting for businesses that rely on P.O.'s for their operations.

Compared to other applications, this is really the best application.

Pros

Perfect for new businesses looking to go paperless. I've never come across such an inventive application before. I suggest it to everyone; I'm sure anyone who uses this app won't be disappointed. It's the best option.

Cons

HCP is focusing more on marketing now, shifting from serving professional clients to targeting warranty companies. There's no effective way to search for jobs and clients using keywords on the main page, a feature commonly found on Google platforms. My main issue: Emails sent to clients go through HCP without giving pros copies of what's been sent. This lack of traceability compliance means jobs can be edited after client billing, with no way for our office to verify what clients have received since HCP can't retrieve it after 7 days.

pushy calls

Pros

I had worked with Housecall Pro in the past and the product itself was fairly decent.

Cons

About three months ago, I got a marketing call from them offering an Amazon gift card if I sat through a demo. I took the time to attend but the promised reward never showed up. Since then, I've received five more sales calls trying to pitch me again. That's about the worst way to begin any business relationship and no one ever made an effort to make it right.

Nonstop calls

Pros

The software was decent enough and did the basics but it didn't feel especially impressive. It kind of worked although the price seemed high for what was actually included.

Cons

Once I decided not to continue after the free trial, it took them more than a week to process the cancellation and I ended up getting charged. I pointed out that I had given them plenty of notice and they did refund me but because I'm outside the U.S., I still lost about $10 due to exchange rate changes. Even after canceling, they kept calling me repeatedly. Every time I asked them to stop, the calls still continued which felt very disrespectful.

Deceptive pricing and junk leads

Pros

Honestly I didn't see any real advantages with it. Anything it offered felt like something I could already get from another service anyway.

Cons

Using Housecall Pro was a frustrating experience overall. It made it too hard to present my company and services properly to potential customers. At the time, the keyword options and categories for IT services were not good enough which made things even worse. On top of that, the pricing and cost per lead felt misleading and a lot of the leads they sent over were basically junk. Even when those leads went nowhere, we were still charged hundreds of dollars for them.
