“Payroll Done in Minutes, Zero Complaints

Pros

I can just log in, type in my hours and any reimbursements and bam, payroll is done in minutes. It's also great having control over onboarding and employee profiles. I can manage everyone's pay, bonuses, raises, reviews, tax info and banking details all from one place.

Cons

No complaints from me! Everything's been working great so far.

“Four Years and still Feels amazing

Pros

I have been using this for about four years now and I still love how intuitive it all feels. Getting around is easy whether I'm asking for time off, looking at an old paystub or changing my direct deposit. The best part is I can do all this myself without having to bother someone in the office.

Cons

I wish I could just adjust my 401k contributions right on the site. Having to go through a different process is annoying.

“easy for the boss and the team

Pros

This platform is really easy for everyone to use whether you're the boss or an employee. My team really likes how much control they have over their own info and settings.

Cons

It's frustrating not having one dedicated support person for our account. You have to explain your situation to someone new every time.

Pros

Running payroll is smooth and never gives me any trouble. And I know it sounds weird but setting up benefits is actually kind of enjoyable and you never feel lost. Getting to my paystubs and benefits info is easy and handy, both on the website and on my phone.

Cons

Getting help takes forever because we have to go through our own HR department first before they'll even contact Gusto. Adds a whole extra step.

“simple and clear

Pros

I've used this platform as both an employee and an employer and I think it's great how simple everything is. The fees are completely clear with no surprises which I really appreciate. And the little things like birthday emails and welcome messages for new staff actually make a difference. All the HR stuff is well-organized which makes my daily tasks so much easier.

Cons

Its a bummer that I can't offer my team benefits like dental unless I also get our health insurance through Gusto. They bundle it all together.

“Does everything, Just Needs a Time Clock

Pros

It literally does everything we need to run payroll.

Cons

It is a little inconvenient that there are no physical time clocks. You're always stuck using your own phone or computer.

I don't have to guess about payroll anymore. I'm definitely not a tax expert so this thing has been a total lifesaver for me.

Cons

Nothing major really. I guess I'd love if it connected with schwab for our 401(k) but that's just me being picky.

Pros

Getting started was very simple and keeping things going has been just as easy. The support team is really great to work with whenever I need a hand which makes the whole "managing payroll" thing way less stressful for me.

Cons

I don't have any complaints yet but I'm still new, only been using it for a few months.

I find this service really easy to use and the price feels totally fair for everything you get out of it.

I felt a little thrown into the deep end when I first started. Could've used a bit more hand-holding at the beginning.

Pros

The interface is super friendly and makes everything simple. I love those payday notifications and I never have to wonder when the money's coming. Submitting a reimbursement is also very easy and keeping track of my vacation days couldn't be simpler.

Can't really think of any negatives. It just works for everything I need.

All the uncertainty I used to have about payroll is completely gone for me and since I'm definitely not a tax expert, this has been an absolute lifesaver.

I can't think of any big drawbacks. It would be nice if it synced with Schwab 401(k), but that's more of a wishlist request than a real complaint.

“Few Flaws In a Powerhouse

Pros

Running payroll for my three small businesses is now incredibly simple. It's just a few clicks and I'm done. The automated tax reporting is a huge weight off my shoulders because I don't have to worry about quarterly or yearly filings anymore. It handles both my contractors and my W-2 staff without any issues. When tax season comes, creating all the 1099s and W-2s is absolutely effortless. My own paycheck even runs on auto-pilot every week which is perfect for my steady salary and it's a true "set it and forget it" situation. And their support team has always been fantastic whenever I've needed them.

Cons

I hate the 2-factor authentication but I get it's for security. The reports for old contractor payments are also super weird and they show up in a random order and you can't sort them which makes it hard to reconcile my books (maybe that's a me problem?). Also the vendors Gusto partners with spam my inbox with benefit emails I never read.

“Multi-state Magic, Geofencing Problems

Pros

Okay, the multi-state feature is a LIFEsaVER. Like a few clicks and their team handles it all. I've done it manually before and it was a nightmare so this is a dream. Also payroll used to take me hours. Now I'm done in like 15 minutes, tops. Support is great too. You might wait on hold for a bit but they actually know their stuff and fix the problem.

Cons

The geofencing for time tracking can be so frustrating. My employees will be standing right in the spot they're supposed to be and it still gives them an error saying they're not in the right location. Other than that I really don't have much to complain about.

Pros

This has made my HR and payroll life so much easier. I run payroll for a bunch of people every week and it connects with our other software perfectly. Onboarding new hires is so easy and it's all in one place. The interface is super interactive and I can get my reports in seconds. Support has been awesome the few times I've needed them. Adding people is simple and I can even do it from my phone on my day off. Huge win.

Cons

I haven't come across anything that bothers me. The apps and everything just work smoothly for how we run our business.

It handles the HR and tax stuff I used to worry about. The benefits and price are a good fit for my small business and the platform is easy to use

Getting support is frustrating. The chat feels intimidating and I often have to wait over 20 minutes for a callback. Their help articles are good but sometimes I just need to talk to someone right away. This year, I had two tax issues. The first one took almost 6 weeks for them to even respond and the second one dragged on for over 100 days before it was fixed and it turned out to be their mistake! I get that I'm on the basic plan but these wait times are just unacceptable no matter what you're paying.

I used the same old payroll system for over 10 years before switching. The biggest difference? The support team here is exceptional. They're always there when we need them and the platform has every feature we need.

Cons

One downside is that it works best with certain third-party services. If you want to use a different provider especially for insurance, it might not be available or it's not a smooth connection. The employee time tracking could also be better.

Pros

as a small nonprofit, I have to do multiple tasks. I needed payroll to be simple and this was it. Onboarding employees and contractors was so easy and year-end taxes were no sweat. It looks professional and is easy to use. Everyone got paid on time, every time. If I had a small issue like a password reset, I could fix it fast. It just took a major headache off my plate.

Cons

I didn't have any problems really. But when our project ended, it wasn't very clear how to pause everything. We run a grant program that stops for a few months each year and I definitely don't want to keep paying for payroll when we're not using it.

Pros

I've been doing payroll for over 30 years. Switching to this was a game-changer. It's so accurate and simple, it takes all the stress out. With tax laws always changing, I sleep better knowing the reporting and payments are handled correctly.

Cons

setting up our company profile took way longer than I thought it would. There were a lot of sections to fill out before the payroll would work correctly. It really forces you to be thorough with your data from the start.

appreciate how easy it is to check my paychecks on here. I always know exactly when I'm getting paid and the breakdown is clear. Being able to download my paystubs or update my info right from my phone is so convenient.

Cons

Can't find any real issues with it so far. Everything seems well thought-out and works exactly how I expect it to.

Pros

I had never run payroll before this job,but this platform made it so easy. From setup to my first payroll, it was all stress-free and intuitive. It connected to our QuickBooks in minutes. Their customer support is top-notch and I've called twice and both times they answered fast and knew exactly what to do. I rely on this for everything payroll now. It makes my job so much simpler.
