“Comprehensive but expensive package
Pros
the email support team replies promptly and truly tackles the questions I raise. I also like that so many things are consolidated, performance reviews, healthcare benefits and a range of other tools all housed in a single spot.
Cons
The price is certainly on the higher side, though I can't deny that for what you get, the expense feels warranted.

“Makes payroll easy for my clients
Pros
Gusto makes payroll far easier to handle and my team finds it just as valuable for bookkeeping tasks. I love how easily it connects with our accounting system . it's a real time-saver.
Cons
I haven't faced any major problems so far. It would be helpful, though, if there were a phone support line for my clients who manage payroll themselves, they sometimes prefer speaking directly to someone when questions come up.

Pros
Over the years I've relied on this and watched it get steadily better. The layout is super interactive which makes running payroll far less of a headache. I'd absolutely recommend it to others!
Cons
Right now I can't really name anything that bothers me. Because I'm still getting to grips with the rest of the functionality, I don't have any concrete complaints or flaws to point out yet.

“Handles many states, but fees pile up
Pros
Managing payroll across three states used to be a nightmare for me but I find It handles everything smoothly even the tax calculations are automated and completely easy.
Cons
Even though I only run payroll for myself once a year, I'm still charged a monthly fee which feels excessive. I'd love if billing were usage-based instead. Also, I keep getting billed extra when I have employees across different states and those charges add up fast.

Pros
I really value that it takes care of pay proration automatically, it saves me a ton of time. The link to state registration is super convenient, and they'll even manage the entire registration process if our company requires it. Their Customer Success reps are knowledgeable and always reply promptly whenever I need assistance. I've actually suggested this to a few other firms that have newer payroll admins because what I hear back is that employees grow much more confident and skilled when using these platforms.
Cons
One major drawback for me is that I'm accustomed to having complete freedom to make edits and corrections, yet this system imposes more limits compared with other payroll platforms I've used. That said, their support staff does fix these problems quickly whenever I contact them.

The team's communication is excellent and I really appreciate those subtle animations, they make the app feel friendlier. I'd happily recommend this to any small business that wants an employee-focused solution.

Running payroll used to intimidate me but It broke everything down so it was easy to understand and carry out.
