It has genuinely changed the way we take care of HR for both our full-time and part-time employees. The user interface feels extremely fast and is very interactive to move through, which makes day-to-day workflows far more streamlined. Most impressive to me is how tax administration has become so much easier, what used to be a massive headache is now handled in a surprisingly clear and manageable way.

Cons

I find the insurance configuration can get overly complex at times, and that complexity occasionally undermines the otherwise smooth experience. Since we're slowly adding more team members based offshore, I'm beginning to question whether this platform will scale well for a workforce that's spread across multiple countries. We may have to explore alternative services that are better equipped to support international teams and provide simpler cross-border features.

The amount of time this saves is just amazing, processing both hourly and salaried payroll takes me less than five minutes every other week. When I was forced to switch providers on a 24-hour timeline, their support crew stayed with me through every step to pull it off. Customer service is excellent whether I'm running bonus payrolls or extra runs. They're lightning-fast on chat and if I ask for a callback someone returns my call in minutes. I also really value that they automatically take care of all the compliance forms and filings, which removes a massive workload from my desk and lets me focus on other priorities.

Cons

My main con is how it handles having hourly and salaried staff together. Because of the way payroll is structured, our company would have to push payments out several weeks to align everyone's pay periods properly, which isn't ideal. If they'd provided clearer, more detailed instructions during the initial setup, I think we could have avoided discovering this hiccup later on.

As a small-business owner in Portland, I switched to this provider after my former payroll service left a disaster that appalled my accountant. The contrast was dramatic and it detected every conceivable federal, state, city, county and local tax levy and configured all settings flawlessly. My accountant went from exasperated to delighted. Now, when I need payroll data today, I no longer fret about pestering my accountant to comb through older records, because this solution makes finding details incredibly simple. I genuinely can't recommend it highly enough!

No longer do I have to stress about payroll, it's completely taken off my plate! The customer service and overall experience are outstanding; they truly get what I need. I couldn't picture moving to any other provider. They've been consistently managing all the state and local regulations so I don't need to.

no cons, everything functions so smoothly that I occasionally worry I might be overlooking features or advanced tools, particularly because it is constantly rolling out new additions and improvements for myself.

Pros

What I appreciate most is that this tool gets straight to the point and doesn't waste my time and it highlights the essentials like when I was paid and how much showed up in my paycheck. Compared to other payroll systems I've dealt with, which hide those details behind extra logins and a maze of clicks full of irrelevant information (which drives me nuts), this is refreshingly direct. I also really like that it nudges me about important, time-sensitive items such as picking health insurance without blowing up my phone with useless alerts. They keep long legal disclaimers and other clutter out of sight unless I need them which keeps the interface clean. The simplicity is effective and I hope they stick with it.

Cons

Although I understand why two-step authentication is necessary, it can get pretty annoying over time. Navigating benefits remains a headache for me even with all the guides and honestly, benefits themselves feel like a constantly shifting mess. I'd really like to see a cost calculator where I could enter expected medical needs and compare annual out-of-pocket costs across plans for routine checkups, prescriptions, emergencies and similar expenses. That kind of tool would make choosing a plan far less confusing.

I wish I could specify a percentage amount for tax withholding per paycheck instead of a specific dollar amount. Despite that Gusto makes it easy to make changes.

Running custom reports is pretty frustrating since the options are so limited. I end up having to generate way more data than I actually need just to get the specific information I'm looking for. The pre-made reports work fine but when I try to create something tailored to my business needs, the customization choices just aren't there. It Would be great if there was a fully customizable section where I could pick exactly what information I want included.

Customer service is usually solid but sometimes response times drag and the answers feel pretty generic. When I get notices, the replies often just repeat what's already in the letter instead of addressing my specific questions. Their email and online support has gotten worse as they've expanded, though it's still better than most competitors out there.
