“Gusto: for the simplest of paychecks and those who don't need support”

Pros

Theres not much to complain about. Direct deposits consistently arrive the next day which is a nice feature.

Cons

The support was terrible. The chat never worked and if you missed their call you had to put in a new request. They could only calculate federal withholding for simple pay plans and had issues with the calculation if pay varied between paychecks.

The user-friendliness extends to contractors setup with clear tracking and electronic issuance of 1099s at year-end.

Cons

Initially the payroll setup delays the process but after a few months next-day payroll becomes an option.

So far I havent encountered any cons. Everything is easy to find and use although its a bit expensive its definitely worth it!

Direct payroll arriving on time was a decent touch but that's basically the only positive I can point to.

Aside from the payroll timing, the service has been really awful, support was unhelpful and they kept charging fees even after I canceled, with the charges going way past the cancellation date.

Being totally new to payroll, I was pleasantly surprised by how user-friendly and clear the interface is to use, it felt natural to use from day one. I managed everything without ever feeling overwhelmed even though I had no prior experience. When issues did come up, their support team was fantastic. they'd actually call us directly and patiently walk through each problem step by step.

So far I haven't run into any problems. everything has been pretty simple to find and simple to use.

Gusto's layout feels adaptive and it made our payroll and HR workflows a lot simpler. The interface is simple and the built-in automation tools cut down the time we spend on admin work which noticeably improved our team's overall efficiency.

Even though it has a solid set of features, we ran into a few issues with third-party integrations. If it could connect more smoothly with the other business tools we already use, the overall experience would be even better.

I'm really pleased with how simple it is to use. It also pulls together all employee information in one place so there's less jumping between systems. Also, employees can update and manage their own profiles which cuts down the time needed to run payroll.

My only real problem has been converting contractors into employees . it seems you need to set up a completely new account with a different email and that doesn't always work well for how our business is structured for our operations.

Running a small business, I can't afford to tangle with complex software, so finding It felt like a relief because it's remarkably interactive. The learning curve was almost nonexistent and that alone saved me many hours that I would have otherwise spent frustrated. Whenever I hit a snag I couldn't sort out myself, customer support has been excellent, fast to reply and genuinely helpful. I also appreciate the strong integration options especially the connections to my 401k provider and QuickBooks which keep everything organized and aligned.

I do wish the system made gas mileage reimbursements easier to manage, that whole process isn't as simple as the rest of the app and could use simplification.

Running payroll along with benefits and insurance administration through it feels surprisingly simple, setup and day-to-day management are simple from the start. Also, their customer support has been consistently strong, every time I've run into an issue, the team is responsive, genuinely helpful and focused on getting things resolved.

Cons

Only real limitation is that it seems to be geared mainly toward small companies. It isn't a dealbreaker for me but I'd personally prefer to use it with all my clients no matter their size.

Customer support has been underwhelming. A number of times, replies to questions and fixes for issues were either slow or didn't include enough detail and clarity to resolve the problem quickly. Since payroll and HR are such a time-sensitive and high-stakes area, customers really need fast, effective help but that hasn't consistently been available. Another major headache was payroll processes getting canceled unexpectedly, with no warning beforehand. That created confusion and also caused operational delays and it definitely hurt morale because employees couldn't rely on when (or if) their compensation would be processed as expected. Also, there were cases where former employees weren't removed from the benefits plan promptly even after notification, dragging it out for months and creating extra complications plus financial discrepancies. Overall, it feels like the system needs tighter checks and more reliable handling so employee status changes (like terminations) are updated accurately and on time across every part of the service.

Using this service has made running payroll so much less complicated and I love that workers compensation insurance is included right in the plan, it's a huge convenience. The tools for onboarding new staff have genuinely simplified bringing people onboard compared to how it used to be. Having tax filings taken care of automatically is something I really appreciate . it removes a big administrative headache for me as a small business owner juggling many responsibilities. Plus, the email nudges before payroll runs are super helpful.

Cons

At the moment I don't have any complaints or features that frustrate me with this service.
