“HR in one place”
Pros
I appreciate how this product simplifies payroll for small and medium-sized organizations. It effectively tracks employee time reporting and makes it easy for these businesses to compensate their employees.
Cons
I'd like to see additional HR management functions included in the product, such as compliance and report filing.

“perfect payroll for beginners”
Pros
The software is super simple to work with and feels pretty organized overall. That made it a solid fit for me as a payroll beginner, I had zero payroll experience coming in and it still made sense quickly.
Cons
Nothing stands out as a negative. I haven't really compared it against other payroll services for my own company and after using it for over four years, there's no real reason to switch.

“all small teams love it”
Pros
Maintenance feels really manageable especially for smaller companies that don't have the budget for a dedicated payroll person. As the program manager, I'm able to handle payroll directly, log sick time and take care of other HR related tasks without juggling extra tools.
Cons
One thing I'd still like to see is a way to bulk update employees' hours worked. Since my team follows the same schedule every day, it would be awesome to be able to duplicate days instead of entering the hours manually for each individual day.

“Simplified payroll with W2 tracking”
Pros
This app makes the payroll process feel a lot more simple especially for setting up direct deposit and saving payment details in one place so everything stays organized. I also really appreciate that it keeps W-2 information available for taxes which saves time when tax season rolls around.
Cons
There's a small learning curve right at the start but it doesn't take long to get the hang of it.

“gusto handles payroll end-to-end”
Pros
It takes care of the entire payroll process for you. It also integrates benefits and supports both salary and hourly employees. Also, it can handle contract payments within the country as well as internationally. The platform feels like a strong fit for a small business and is surprisingly cost effective.
Cons
Once your team grows to around 50+ employees, it can become more difficult to manage payroll and staff through the system.

“affordable tool”
Pros
Pretty well known tool i must say and its priced in a reasonable range and set up to work exclusively with certain other accounting systems which makes things simple when you're already using those tools.
Cons
The reporting side could use more depth and the interface could be a bit easier to navigate since getting the information you need isn't as smooth as it could be.

“payroll taxes handled automatically”
Pros
One of the best parts is that you don't have to stress over calculating and paying payroll taxes. It's built to take that burden off small businesses, once you plug in the time cards and hit submit, the whole thing is taken care of.
Cons
If you're comfortable with tech, it feels pretty simple. On the other hand if it's your first time working with software or a cloud platform like this, there's definitely a learning curve to get used to it.

“Switching back to Square Payroll by year-end”
Pros
The accountant login feature was a major draw for me, enabling me to manage multiple clients under one user login and seamlessly switch between payroll clients.
Cons
It's challenging to use and not intuitive. The reporting section needs significant improvement. I initially hoped to like this software but ended up disliking it. There were issues with double processing for one client, causing financial strain. Gusto's support was slow to respond and failed to rectify the situation satisfactorily. I'm relieved I didn't transition all my clients to this software.

“Amazing for receiving payments”
Pros
While freelancing for a US-based company, Gusto was used for payroll management. The process was straightforward, and I'd receive payments directly into my account within 3-5 days after payroll runs.
Cons
I'm not fond of the waiting time, and I believe receiving money sooner would be beneficial.

“Excellent software”
Pros
Using it has been a really smooth experience for both creating job posts and handling applicant tracking. One standout feature was the ability to set up custom onboarding checklists which made it simple to manage the whole onboarding process inside it instead of juggling separate documents across other tools.
Cons

“Reports fail”
Pros
The accountant login is the feature that initially pulled me in. It lets me move multiple clients under one login and I can switch between payroll clients without having to log in separately for each one.
Cons
Using the software ended up being frustrating. It feels hard to navigate and not very user friendly and overall it takes far too long and becomes overly complicated for day-to-day payroll work. The Reports section especially needs a major overhaul. Their Indiana WH1 payroll report is supposed to be detailed but what's provided is more of a generic "summary" and it doesn't include the essentials like employee names, wages or other key details. That missing information made it difficult to complete COVID filings and ERC amendments. I really wanted to make this work but the experience turned negative...one client ended up with double processing which caused an overdraw and it took forever to get it corrected. I even had to cover the mistake by moving money from the business account. Support also wasn't helpful, it took a long time to respond and never fully resolved the issue with either my company or my client. I'm thankful I didn't transfer everyone over-right now I've only kept one client on it and that one will be switching back to Square Payroll by year-end.
