“Amazing experience”
Pros
The full-service approach really covers the bases for payroll, everything you need to run payroll is available with just a few clicks and it leans on the software's automation to cut down on busywork. Beyond employee payments, it also helps with important HR tasks, lets you manage employee benefits and reduces the risk of inaccurate tax filings. The automated tax filing keeps things current and helps ensure tax paperwork stays accurate which lowers the likelihood of manual errors. It also helps your business stay aligned with changes in tax regulations, reducing the chance of penalties or levies from tax authorities.
Cons
You still have to enter state tax rates manually each year which can be a bit tiring. The good news is that once everything's set up, things run smoothly. Their website is generally simple but I sometimes end up clicking through multiple pages just to locate certain details. Other than that, I don't see much that it could improve right now.

“accessible from any device”
Pros
Accessible interface, simple deployment and a solid set of features. It also covers HR management really well, functioning like an all encompassing software solution for our needs.
Cons
Compared with our previous system, it took a bit of getting used to and I would've preferred a way to transfer everything from our old provider directly to the cloud. That said, it's mostly a minor formality and overall it's a great product.

“simple to use”
Pros
Simple to use and the website layout feels genuinely adaptive which makes day-to-day navigation painless.
Cons
Their support hasn't matched the standard we expected... support quality used to be strong when we switched from our previous provider but it has noticeably declined over the last year or two. Also, it can be a hassle to get accurate quotes for health insurance benefit options.

“payment features that help a lot”
Pros
Paying for the extra features has made this platform really useful for managing every payment. It's been a big help in keeping things organized and simple.
Cons
Nothing negative to report so far, this app has been accurate and hasn't felt misleading or "false" in any way.

“great options control”
Pros
I really like how you can manage the different options in this software. The way the controls are set up makes day-to-day work a lot easier and more efficient.
Cons
That said, the interface can feel boring or even frustrating in some cases. It also doesn't feel very adaptive if you're a new user and the layout can be a bit hard to understand at first.

“setup is quick”
Pros
It is a pretty simple system for running payroll every week and it comes with a solid set of features. I also appreciate that staff can manage their own details which cuts down on back-and-forth. We have a few different categories of people... hourly employees with tips, hourly employees without tips, full-timers and contractors... and Gusto handles all of that without causing any real problems for us.
Cons
Haven't run into a genuine drawback so far. For a small company like ours, it's been excellent payroll software.

“solid payroll reminders”
Pros
Setup was simple and the built-in reminders have been really helpful for running payroll on time. It keeps me from missing key deadlines and overall it's been an efficient way to manage payroll tasks.
Cons
Tax side has been a headache. There were a few instances where payments to the state tax agency were either late or incorrect and that resulted in penalties plus a lot of back-and-forth... ultimately meaning amended filings and additional cleanup work.

“I like it”
Pros
I stepped in to manage payroll for our church and the timeline to get everything set up was extremely tight. The help I received throughout the process was genuinely outstanding. The customer support team guided me through each step clearly and I really appreciated the support while we went through such a big change.
Cons
When I had questions, I'd just like to see faster email response times.

“keeps us focused”
Pros
Using it as an onboarding and payroll program feels refreshingly simple and to the point. It sends reminders when you actually need them which helps keep onboarding paperwork organized in a checklist format. Payroll options are flexible too...pay can be handled as a salary or hourly rate and you can also mix in bonuses and other adjustments. Customer support has been quick and genuinely friendly throughout.
Cons
Mobile app still feels like the weaker side of the product. I haven't personally relied on it much but a couple of coworkers have run into issues where we needed to revisit and correct dates and times multiple times.

“easy use app”
Pros
What I really appreciate is how simple it is to use in specific work areas, with tools that fit the job well. It's the kind of setup that doesn't slow you down when you're working within those focused fields.
Cons
Biggest positive for me is the overall ease of use and the wide availability of applications so there isn't much I'd complain about.

“our team loves it”
Pros
This is a platform that feels simple and covers a lot of what we need. I appreciate that employees can set up their own shop inside it, with the flexibility to make changes and run elections whenever they decide it's right for them. Also, it's priced reasonably and it blends well with the other tools I'm using for my clients.
Cons
If there's a way to make it even simpler, that would be a big win. People may depend on the information without double checking so accuracy and confidence matter especially when it comes to using it on mobile, an improved mobile app would help a lot.

“makes work better”
Pros
A real game changer for small businesses. It automatically gathers employee tax details, makes it simple for employees to update their withholding amounts and lets them set up direct deposit without hassle. Also, it turns around W-2s quickly so the whole payroll tax process doesn't eat up your time.
Cons
No real downsides to report. It's been a true lifesaver while running the company and I'd recommend it to anyone who needs payroll handled properly.

“Excellent!!”
Pros
It's very simple to use. The app lets you and your employees connect third party apps through Plaid so you can link direct deposit quickly. You can also access your account anytime and it supports payroll plus merchant services too.
Cons
One part that didn't feel great was how difficult it is to access the employees database. It could definitely be a bit simpler and more convenient.

“Solid tool for everyone”
Pros
Payroll runs smoothly and I'm genuinely happy with pyroll especially the reporting.
Cons
These aren't really deal-breakers but there are a couple additions I'd love to see. It would be great if onboarding could integrate directly with a background check provider and a drug screening company. I'd also like the option to generate an employee handbook or a clear summary of benefits. When hiring, I often want a quick snapshot of what's happening in it (vacation policy, holiday policy and benefits options) and having something like that would make the hiring process a lot more efficient.

“makes payroll fun”
Pros
Genuinely been a lifesaver for our business. After moving over from a payroll provider with consistently unhelpful customer service, Gusto came through with an easy-to-navigate platform, strong value for the cost and really responsive support. It's been a smooth switch for our team and has taken a lot of stress off payroll.
Cons
Not much to complain about. I appreciate that they keep rolling out new features and I'm excited to keep building with it as they expand.

“so good!”
Pros
I can locate reports and data quickly. It's also convenient that employees can print their own tax forms and check stubs which cuts down a lot of my workload. Training new hires feels painless too, most people pick up the time tracking system without confusion. Payroll and contractor payments run smoothly, too.
Cons
A reliable delegate is needed whenever I reach out though that seems more related to staffing availability than the app itself. Beyond that, the platform is very user friendly with a clean, appealing design.

“handles everything nicely”
Pros
So I began copywriting for a fashion company that uses it as its payment platform. What stood out is how fully automated everything feels and it let me enter all my details without having to email sensitive information. The built-in tax information and payment review flow made the process much simpler for me overall.
Cons
Even though there's a section where I can add my personal info, the HR team still requested additional details that I would've preferred to submit through it only. It seems like they may need to broaden the profile creation options.
