“Great automations”
Pros
It connects with QuickBooks and works alongside our time clocking program. We can also clock in directly from the tool, not just through our existing setup. Setup for the different automations was simple and the reporting is packed with helpful insights. Support has generally been solid and they handle the paperwork/filings for us too.
Cons
When an escalation is needed, customer service takes longer than we'd like and could be more responsive.

“alerts help alot”
Pros
Interface feels simple and adaptive for keeping up with my current pay period, hours worked, when my next paycheck is due and when tax documents are ready. Email notifications are a nice touch too especially for payday reminders and alerts when tax documents become available.
Cons
Nothing really stood out as a downside and I'd happily recommend it to employers since the overall experience is genuinely strong.

“Awesome”
Pros
Been really simple to keep tabs on employee PTO and time and it's also convenient for updating direct deposit details. Also, it makes W-2 production a lot simpler.
Cons
Every so often there are minor hiccups, one employee has to sign out and sign back in before her PTO hours show up. That said, nothing here is a deal-breaker for using the system.

“easy to use”
Pros
Really simple to use, honestly im impressed. I'm not very technical yet I've been able to access and use all the features without any trouble. Getting reports is simple and I can also pay employees and independent contractors directly through the platform.
Cons
Honestly I haven't come across anything I dislike.

“Incredible platform”
Pros
It is really simple to use and comes with plenty of options for both 401(k) and health insurance. It also feels more personal than other payroll providers I've tried, like JustWorks. Also, it integrates with QuickBooks Online and it can automatically post payroll journal entries into QBO.
Cons
Nothing major to complain about. The only wish would be for the 401(k) offering to be even better.

“friendly UI”
Pros
The user interface feels way more friendly and adaptive than the major competitor I switched from. Employee onboarding is simple too and the tax setup was handled correctly, everything was configured and taken care of without extra hassle.
Cons
Direct deposits ended up being delayed for some employees because an earlier employee's payroll hadn't been skipped. I later learned I needed to skip a specific payroll entry that wasn't generating checks so the system could prioritize getting the other employees' direct deposits out on time.

“powerful features”
Pros
Most of the functions are simple to use. A few areas take more effort and while they include extra features, it's not always obvious how to locate them.
Cons
Customer support is the weak spot. Since it's paid software, I expected a direct phone number for technical help. Instead, the process feels like sending a message and waiting for a callback which gets tricky when you're handling something time-sensitive like payroll. You end up pausing work and hoping you have enough time to follow up once they call. Also, employees have also raised concerns about how their account questions are handled by customer service.

“strong HR support”
Pros
It feels really simple to use and the portal is nice and clean, everything flows in a way that makes day-to-day tasks simpler. Reporting is also a highlight for me especially for payroll and tax agencies, plus pulling up employee information when I need it. The HR support has been a big win too, the HR pros are genuinely helpful and it's been especially useful when I'm managing employees across multiple states.
Cons
Support is friendly and helpful but reaching a real person can sometimes take longer than expected.

“self-serve paystubs save time”
Pros
My staff can pull up their paystubs whenever they need them. They're able to print the document and also save it as a PDF if it's needed later. Before this, paystubs were getting misplaced and people would have to wait on the finance manager. Since the finance manager is part time, that sometimes meant waiting a couple of days. With this setup, everything runs a lot smoother for the team.
Cons
I'm still a bit unsure about the wallet feature. I already have my own bank account with a savings account and during signup I was offered options to set up the wallet. I also kept getting emails related to setting it up so it felt a little confusing on my end.

“Amazing tool for HR”
Pros
The interface looks really polished and it comes packed with a lot of functions, everything runs perfectly. Also, there are features you don't usually see in other software, like paperwork support for administrative tasks. Overall it feels like a solid 10/10.
Cons
Some areas could be a bit more flexible, with more options that let us make choices freely.

“Helpful reminders”
Pros
Gusto feels really simple and adaptive. Anyone can jump in and quickly understand how to navigate and figure out where to go next. The email reminders are detailed and genuinely useful and getting my W-2 was handled fast without any hassle.
Cons
When it comes to daily time tracking, I'd love the ability to save a standard day template (instead of entering "9, 00" and "5, 00" for every single day). Typing it out repeatedly gets a bit tiring.

“makes work simple”
Pros
We handle payroll on a monthly schedule and pay contractors weekly and it fits that workflow really well. It's simple to enter the details I already know, like total hours and the hourly rate.. while It takes care of the parts I'm not as familiar with, such as what needs to be filed, how to handle withholding, how much to withhold and where to send payments. That division of work makes me feel confident my company stays compliant. Getting everyone paid is also quick and painless.
Cons
Once we step beyond payroll and contractor payments, the platform's capabilities and expertise don't feel as strong. Workers' comp ended up being a bright spot for us and it was genuinely easy to set up but beyond that, things seem more limited. Customer support usually resolves the issue if I keep digging but it can be frustrating trying to reach a real person who can confirm they understand the question right away.

“Its very efficient”
Pros
Has been a huge win for our small business. We used to track my hours with an Excel spreadsheet and switching to Gusto completely changed the workflow. The app shows my pay rate, PTO, shift differentials and other key details right when I need them. It's also simple to use and I genuinely can't say enough positive things about it.
Cons
Sometimes the software won't load properly on my laptop for some reason, then I'll see the walking pig and a maintenance notice. When that happens, I just jump in on my phone instead, log into my account and keep tracking my hours without much hassle.

“Nice UI”
Pros
The UI, overall functionality and the feature set really won me over. The employee onboarding experience is especially strong and the platform also includes some solid integrations that help organize workflows.
Cons
Customer support feels nearly absent right now. Our Office Manager has been struggling to get timely replies from customer service for months, tickets often sit for several days and in some cases problems linger for weeks or even months before anyone from the responds. We recently ran into an issue where a paystub showed one of our owners had paid about $30k in insurance fees and it took roughly two months to get an explanation from support about what was happening.
