“bad reporting and wrong hours”
Pros
UI feels adaptive and the app integrates nicely with other tools.

“Good setup”
Pros
I walked into contract accounting with zero payroll background and the customer support team was genuinely patient, helpful and really willing to teach. After getting through the learning curve, I earned my Gusto certification, I've onboarded around half a dozen clients, set everything up for them and now assist with ongoing administration. One of my favorite parts is how simple it is for employees to submit hours, plus the ability to run payroll for salaried employees on autopilot. The QuickBooks Online/Xero integration has also been a huge win for me because I no longer have to write journal entries manually. Beyond setting up new clients, I've also converted some existing ones and even helped other accountants get up to speed on the platform.
Cons
Would be even better if there were a direct feed from state agencies into it for reporting updates like changes in UI rates.

“It's actually great”
Pros
We've been using it for both payroll and employee onboarding and it's been a solid fit. The platform feels simple to work with even if you're still learning the payroll rules. The dashboard is especially helpful since it keeps flagging the tasks you need to finish so nothing slips through the cracks. Also, their customer support has been genuinely responsive and useful whenever we run into questions.
Cons
Getting comfortable with their reporting templates takes a little time. You can generate custom reports but the template layout isn't immediately adaptive. Once you learn their format though, the reporting is pretty strong and includes the details we need.

“Works well”
Pros
It feels like a really solid, dependable platform for businesses that want a organized HR setup and it's been especially helpful for a smaller company. We switched over from OnPay and the onboarding process was essentially smooth. The day-to-day experience is noticeably better and the way the features tie into our existing workflow is great, everything just feels vertically integrated instead of pieced together.
Cons
The subscription costs more than our previous tool but our team genuinely thinks it's worth it. That said, not every organization will end up using the full range of features... it is powerful and comprehensive so it won't fit every business style. If your goal is to boost HR productivity and tighten up how work gets done though, it's an easy recommendation.

Pros
Feels simple to work with and it honestly makes a pretty complicated area much less intimidating. Their customer service has been consistently responsive too.. when anything went wrong, they corrected it quickly.
Cons

“simple UI”
Pros
This software is simple to use, with a really simple UI. It also adapts well to specific needs so you can change the setup to match what's required.
Cons
Occasionally it feels a bit heavy on RAM and some calculations or processing can slow down. Even with that, overall it's a solid product.

“feature rich”
Pros
Gusto's onboarding platform is genuinely solid... it handles a lot of the setup work that would otherwise land on the accountant or business owner and shifts that effort onto the new hire instead. I also point my QB's online clients to it because the data entry integration is really smooth which saves a ton of time. Also, they offer a $100 referral bonus per client, even though I'm not earning as much as I do with my own branded payroll referrals, it still works out well for my smaller clients who can't afford my platform.
Cons
The reporting is a bit limited and not as efficient as I'd like though I haven't run into a real world case yet where a report was missing when I needed it.

“simple payroll”
Pros
It has been a simple, user-friendly payroll tool for me. The site isn't loaded with flashy features but that's exactly why it feels simple and effective. Key items are right on the home page-current pay stubs and previous pay stubs are both easy to find... so there's no hunting around. It also seems like a good fit for small businesses that don't want to spend extra money on premium, high-production payroll services. Overall, it gets the job done.
Cons
There's nothing I genuinely dislike about it. It's simple and while that could be a con in some cases, for a small business I don't see it as detrimental at all.

“easy payroll management”
Pros
You can move between clients without much hassle and generating reports is simple. The direct deposit setup for employees has been a solid feature too.
Cons
DE-1 for California isn't handled automatically, looks like it may require an interview or some manual step on your side. As a result, this process leaves the EDD.CA.GOV employer ID that you still need to deal with.

Pros

“friendly dashboard”
Pros
Dashboard is incredibly user friendly and it lets you run it multiple times in a month without extra charges for each run. Compared to ADP and a few other payroll providers that can get pricey per processing, the pricing structure here feels a lot more reasonable.
