Fast payroll with scheduling built-in

Pros

Having scheduling and payroll in one place is a big plus. The timesheet feature lines up employee hours with their scheduled shifts which makes it much simpler to catch mistakes or address attendance issues. Payroll itself is processed quickly and the system is very user friendly.

Cons

The biggest frustration was with payroll tax payment handling. One of our tax payments was not submitted on time and getting it addressed through support took more than six months. It appears payroll tax filing and payments are handled by a third party and even after all that follow-up, the tax agency still shows our account as delinquent with penalties owed. On top of that I wasn't able to speak directly with anyone from the payroll tax processing team.

great value for smaller teams

Pros

For the price this gives small businesses a lot to work with. Having scheduling, time tracking, messaging and payroll tools in one place is really convenient since it cuts down on bouncing between different apps. Support has also been useful whenever I have needed help even if replies can sometimes take a little longer when they're especially busy.

Cons

It's not without issues. I have noticed a handful of minor bugs and occasional syncing lag which can be annoying when timing matters. The reporting and customization features can also feel somewhat limited if you're looking for more advanced options. Still, it has been a dependable tool overall and has made team management much less stressful.

Affordable option for small crews

Pros

Being able to organize schedules and assign tasks in one place was a big plus for me. The platform is very easy to use and it offers good value especially for a startup with just 1 to 2 people. Starting on the free plan before deciding whether to upgrade to the paid version also makes it a practical choice.

Cons

The thing that bothered me was that the features I really needed were locked behind the paid version. I especially wish time-off scheduling had been included in the free plan since that was something important for me.

Scheduling tool does it all

Pros

Having payroll, time tracking and scheduling together in one place has been a big upgrade for us. The platform is simple, user-friendly and cuts out the need for the two separate apps we used before to handle the same tasks.

Cons

One limitation is that it doesn't integrate with our small proprietary POS system for pulling sales numbers although that hasn't been a major issue on our end. The bigger concern is that they made a mistake with our taxes and still owe us for taxes that were paid incorrectly and the response time on getting that resolved has been very slow.

Clover integration works really well

Pros

Running IT for a busy coffee shop means I have tested and rolled out plenty of tools over the years to keep our POS stable, staff organized and labor costs in check. Adding this alongside our Clover POS has easily been one of the best decisions we've made. It builds on what Clover already does well and fits right in without making us replace or overhaul our existing setup.

Cons

The free plan already handles most of what we need especially the time clock and basic scheduling. The paid tiers open up more advanced payroll and HR tools but even the core features provide a lot of value for Clover users. Every now and then we notice small sync issues during busy update periods though support is quick to step in and help.

Swapping shifts is super easy

Pros

Being able to swap shifts with coworkers and get a manager's approval all in one place is really convenient especially since it saves me from texting a bunch of different people.

Cons

I don't like how slow the page can be when it refreshes to show whether someone replied to a request and sometimes I have to do it again.

Tracks time well

Pros

Keeping up with work hours is much simpler with this app and the GPS integration helps make location tracking much more accurate. Also it comes with a few built-in tools for communicating with your team which really helps when scheduling or coordinating tasks. The layout is user-friendly. There is a bit of setup at the beginning but after that using it is very hassle free. I also like that it estimates your pay and gives you the option to access an advance on your paycheck when needed.

Cons

Every now and then the app has frozen or crashed on me although it has only happened a few times. Support can also be a little slow to respond and the answers are not always as helpful or precise as I would expect.

easy scheduling but has limits

Pros

Scheduling was easy, the saved templates were helpful and the interface looked clean. Also it made team collaboration easier than the system we were using before.

Cons

We ran into bugs where staff had to redownload the app whenever notifications stopped coming through. There also wasn't any real way to expand the software to provide links or additional information.

lacking free version

Pros

The app is user friendly and the layout made it simple to use. It helped me put together employee schedules quickly and notify them right away whenever there were changes to their shift or the team's schedule. Another feature I appreciated was being able to see the employee's location when they clocked in.

Cons

The biggest downside is that the basic free version doesn't include simple functions like clocking in which was actually the main reason I downloaded the app in the first place.

all-in-one marketing powerhouse here

Pros

Having everything for marketing in one place was a big plus. The platform is user friendly right away and it made launching campaigns, sharing updates and tracking performance much more manageable without adding extra hassle.

Cons

A few features seemed a bit restricted especially when I wanted more flexibility to customize campaigns or dig into deeper analytics.

so many billing issues

Pros

The dashboard is fairly easy to navigate and being able to export data to Excel was useful because it helped me connect everything with my current payroll provider.

Cons

There were lots and lots and lots of problems. To start with the time clock button sits right next to the logout button which led to constant phone calls from employees needing help getting signed back into the time clock. Then there's customer service or honestly the lack of it. The only real way to reach a person was by calling the sales number because they push you to rely on their AI for support and that just doesn't work for every situation. On top of that after I canceled the service, my account was still charged. I tried to get it resolved but the AI didn't understand the issue and no one ever called me back. In the end, I had to call the sales line again just to reach someone who could actually fix the problem. I would not recommend this software at all. There are plenty of other companies out there that care more about customer service and offer better value for the money.

everything our staff needs is here

Pros

Having everything in one place makes Homebase really useful. It covers a wide range of functions and works as a central hub for staff information which is especially helpful from a management perspective.

Cons

I feel like some occasional glitches and compatibility with iOS and macOS could be better. I also wish the app handled more advanced needs, like scheduling, more effectively.

worth the time

Pros

Being able to access it from anywhere with only a few clicks makes day to day work much more convenient. It cuts down a lot of manual effort which saves time. The value is hard to ignore since there's a free option and if that's not enough, the pricing is flexible depending on what the company needs. Customer support is also readily available whenever help is needed.

Cons

Since it's easy to use, there really isn't much to complain about. The free Basics plan already offers good value for many small businesses. If you have more than 10 employees though you can move to the next lower-cost paid tier, add extra employees for a small additional fee and unlock more of the available features.

easy to navigate features

Pros

Right away the layout is user friendly and simple. Everything is presented clearly so getting around the software doesn't take much guidance and it's hard to feel lost.

Cons

The part I like least is the number of notifications that get sent to email. You have to dig into the settings to adjust that.

track hours properly

Pros

It was great being able to monitor my worked hours all week which has been one of the best parts. I also really appreciate the feature that lets me access money from that day's pay right after I clock out which has been incredibly helpful.

Cons

Honestly I have not run into any issues. The platform is very simple and user-friendly and I was able to set up my account and start navigating everything right away.

Flexible scheduling with team permissions

Pros

Handling multiple schedules has been the biggest advantage for me especially when more than one employer uses the app since switching back and forth between teams is very simple. It's also really versatile for scheduling, clocking in for shifts, tracking and adjusting hours and staying in touch with coworkers or management. Another thing I appreciate is being able to monitor my hours and expected earnings so I can make sure my time is logged correctly and my pay is calculated accurately. Having mobile access, along with the option to clock in right from my phone, makes it even more convenient.

Cons

Notifications still don't come through consistently from time to time although that problem has improved a lot compared to how it used to be. The only other drawback is that the mobile clock-in feature can be a bit unreliable and doesn't always work properly.

reliable tool

Pros

One thing that really worked well for me was the time tracking feature. It made logging hours simple and I was able to check a clear summary of my time whenever I needed it.

Cons

We did run into some problems with staff clocking in and out of the system. It also would have been better if it included an automatic clock-out feature.

Base scheduling costs extra for features

Pros

This software does not take much time to use which makes onboarding pretty easy. Plus it handles the core things we need for scheduling our team and staying in touch with them so it covers the basics well.

Cons

A few features that would really make a difference are locked behind the lower-tier plan limitations but they're not important enough to justify moving to the next pricing level. Things like overtime calculations across multiple sites or being able to attach documents to employee profiles would definitely be useful. The problem is that the price jump to unlock those options feels far too steep for what's being added.

love the cash advance option

Pros

It is easy to use and the setup didn't take much effort. I really liked the cash advance option and it was also helpful that the app clearly showed how much was owed.

Cons

There were times when my hours wouldn't appear until a full day later and sometimes clocking out didn't register at all so a supervisor had to go back in and fix it manually.
