“Payroll and scheduling both help”
Pros
The platform is simple to navigate, quick to update and really helpful when it comes to handling payroll.
Cons
At times I forget the steps for publishing schedules but that's more on me than on the software itself.

“Scheduling interface stays clean throughout”
Pros
Compared with the other options we tried, the interface here felt the cleanest and most simplest. We ended up moving to Square Shifts because the pricing worked better for us at the time and it connected easily with Square Payroll but Homebase definitely looked better and was simpler for the person putting the schedule together.
Cons
The biggest hesitation for us was the cost, along with not feeling fully confident in the payroll side of it. We eventually switched to Square because it seemed more trustworthy to us in that area even though I cannot say for sure whether that assumption was actually right.

“Great for shift coverage and tips”
Pros
One thing that really stands out is how staff can request shift coverage directly in the app. It also alerts me when someone hasn't clocked in or might be late which helps a lot. Being able to track tips is another feature I really appreciate and the team enjoys using it too.
Cons
It would be even better if there were a way to post open dates that need coverage and let employees claim those shifts themselves. At the moment, we still have to manually send out the dates that need to be filled, then assign people and build the schedule from there. I'd love to see that process become more automated.

“Shift alerts stay consistently reliable”
Pros
Back when I used this software at the brewery, clocking in and out was always simple and the email plus push notifications about upcoming shifts or open shifts kept me updated so I never missed anything.
Cons
I really don't have any complaints. Since I only used it as an employee, I didn't get the opportunity to explore many of the other features it offers.

Between building weekly employee schedules and tracking time-off requests, Homebase covers what I need really well. It also shows payroll costs in real time which makes budgeting much more manageable.

“Fits my needs absolutely perfectly”
Pros
Homebase is a simple tool and it didn't take long to learn at all. For a free application, it fits my needs perfectly and delivers exactly what I was looking for.
Cons
I honestly have not run into any downsides with it. I have even gone ahead and recommended it to other people.

“Payroll and scheduling executed correctly”
Pros
Running a business is more manageable with this software because it's easy to work through. It really helps with timesheets, lightens the workload and makes payroll much more convenient.
Cons
Overall it supports businesses well with workload tracking, timesheets and task management. It keeps everything organized and I honestly think it's worth the investment.

“professional and friendly for teams”
Pros
Right away I find it easy for everyone on our team to use. It has an amazing, consistent feel that makes it look professional and it gives small business owners access to a useful tool at little to no cost. Our associates also genuinely enjoy using the app because it's so simple to navigate.
Cons
Honestly we don't really have any complaints about it.

“Accurate payroll”
Pros
One thing that really works well is the time clock feature because it makes tracking employee hours much simpler. Staff can clock in and out through the mobile app, a web browser or even a physical time clock which gives plenty of flexibility. It also handles paid time off tracking and calculates hours accurately for payroll which is a big help.
Cons
Because of the type of work I do, the mobile clock-in feature does not really offer much value to me so I personally do not have much use for it. That said, I can definitely understand how it would be helpful for remote employees.

“Handy scheduling with team updates”
Pros
Having the mobile app has been really useful for checking our team schedule and getting notified whenever there are schedule changes. It also makes it simple to stay in touch and communicate with other team members right in the app.
Cons
It has been a good fit for our small team of about 20 people but I am not sure how well it would scale if the team grew dramatically.

“Scheduling plus team chat help”
Pros
Using Homebase has made tracking time and building schedules much more convenient. The time clock is easy to use and employees can clock in and out without any hassle. The built-in communication tools are also really useful since staff can request time off, trade shifts and message each other directly in the app. It comes with plenty of helpful features overall.
Cons
There really are not any major issues I have with it. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be adding a way to copy schedules from one month to the next so they do not have to be entered manually every week or each new month.

“Flexible options for clocking in”
Pros
It was really convenient that employees could clock in either from their own phones or through a shared kiosk.
Cons
The hardest part of using it was fixing time entry mistakes. You have to open each entry, wait for a popup, make the edit and then save it. If you need to correct another entry, you have to repeat the whole process again. That becomes incredibly time-consuming when you're working against a deadline. A spreadsheet-style way to handle edits would make a big difference especially since I have seen that feature in other tools. That was ultimately the one reason I moved to another product.

“Templates make access really handy”

“team chat simplifies scheduling greatly”
Pros
Being able to chat with coworkers through the app was one of my favorite parts. We could send private messages or group chats to swap shifts, ask for help or check what was needed. It made communication much more manageable without constantly blowing up everyone's phones with text messages. I also appreciated that we could message the specific people we needed without having to get manager approval every time.
Cons
The chats and messages could get a little mixed up or seem to disappear. The notifications were also inconsistent sometimes as I'd get alerted about something that never showed up or I wouldn't get notified about a message at all. It was definitely a bit frustrating but overall it wasn't a major issue.

“Great planning and team messaging”
Pros
Between personal planning and business communication, this tool covers a lot really well. The visualizations are clear, collaborative and easy to understand which makes day to day coordination much better. It also stands out because features that are often harder to reach in other tools feel much more accessible here. On top of that anything related to tracking, calculating and managing hourly job information can be analyzed and handled better from wherever you are.
Cons
It has not felt complicated to use. If anything some areas could look a bit more tailored to specific business sectors but that does not really create limitations because the tool is versatile overall.
