Running a small business, we mainly needed a reliable way to track time and Homebase has handled that really well. We've also started using it to chat with team members and the time management features have been especially useful.

The biggest limitation is that the free version only offers a limited amount of capacity.

Homebase covers just about everything needed to keep a business running day to day. It handles scheduling, time-off requests, availability, shift swaps, open shifts, payroll and even helps track hours worked and money earned. I absolutely love using it because it makes my job a whole lot simpler.

Honestly my only real complaint is the cost. It's $80 a month, then another $36 for the payroll add-on, plus $6 per person for payroll. That adds up fast so I'll be sticking with the free version haha.

At our facility we use Homebase for scheduling and as a time clock and it makes it simple to check when my next shift is coming up. Putting in time-off requests is easy too. The messaging feature works okay although staff still tend to communicate more easily through text or email.

One thing that bothers me is that staff cannot filter the schedule to see only employees working a certain position. Right now, it only lets you view your own schedule or the full schedule for everyone, with no way to narrow it down further. A filter would make a big difference. It also keeps pushing the Cash Out feature and when that is combined with the unfiltered schedule and the employee shout-outs/messages, the whole screen starts to feel cluttered and overwhelming.

Pros

Using this app is very easy and the clean design makes everything pleasant to navigate. I have only used two features so far which are scheduling and chatting with my team but both worked really well and left me completely satisfied. Having everything gathered in one place is also a big help.

At times I wasn't completely sure about some of the settings and the tutorial or helpful tips felt a bit hidden.

When things get busy, navigating this on a touch pad is very easy and it helps me enter information accurately without slowing down.

Every time employees clock in, the GPS tracking shows me exactly where they're working, no matter the jobsite. It even lets me see whether they're inside the project boundaries or just clocking in from the parking lot.

The mobile app does rely on having decent cell service although that only came up occasionally. Outside of that rare issue, the app was dependable almost all the time.

I've noticed the price keeps going up and the printed checks don't show basic details like our business name or account info. They also keep pushing their cash-out program on new hires and some of them thought they had to sign up to get paid. That really needs to be fixed.

I'd really appreciate mileage tracking since the app already uses GPS. It would also be great if it could clock me in automatically when I arrive at a saved work location, then clock me out once I leave.
