Smooth payroll for qbo users

Pros

Using QuickBooks Payroll has been very convenient especially alongside QBO. If you're on QuickBooks Enterprise, payroll has to be managed through a separate account but the integration with QBO books is still very helpful. Running payroll and handling the overall administration is easy and user-friendly too.

Cons

Reporting still feels behind what some competitors offer. A basic payroll journal is harder to locate than it should be and the fact that they do not file and remit payroll taxes in every state can be a hassle.

trusted payroll with broad access

Pros

QuickBooks Payroll benefits from strong name recognition and it's readily accessible for both our firm and our clients. On top of that the product feels familiar which makes it comfortable to use and easier to adopt across the board.

Cons

The biggest downside with QuickBooks Payroll and honestly with most Intuit/QuickBooks products, is the cost. Subscription pricing keeps going up and that ongoing increase makes the overall expense harder to justify over time.

fast and accurate payroll calculations

Pros

Payroll amounts, including taxes, are calculated quickly and accurately which has made the accounting office much more efficient.

Cons

Local taxes still need to be entered manually which slows the process down a bit.

ideal for small teams

Pros

Running payroll with this is very easy and it doesn't take much training or time to learn. It's a great option for a small business owner who just needs a simple way to pay employees.

Cons

I am generally a fan of Intuit products but QuickBooks Payroll felt a little too basic. It seems better suited to a very small business because once the company I worked for started growing, it no longer matched our needs very well. Users can only view their paystubs and don't get access to much else. Payroll also takes a few days to process and there are other providers that pay employees faster.

Costly payroll errors and no accountability

Pros

Integration with QuickBooks Online was one of the main reasons I considered it. Once everything is set up, the system is pretty easy to use.

Cons

Customer support is basically nonexistent. One of my clients uses the full-service payroll option and when QuickBooks makes a mistake, getting them to actually cover the damage is nearly impossible. They may admit the issue was their fault but they still refuse to pay for it. Their support system is layered in a way that keeps you from ever reaching someone with real decision-making authority even when the mistake involves a substantial amount of money. I ran into this problem in two separate situations. In the first, QuickBooks processed a duplicate payroll that cost my client more than $15,000 and even with complete documentation proving they were responsible, they refused to reimburse the loss. In the second, I enrolled a new client in full-service payroll with employees in Nevada. QuickBooks did not support filing one of the state-required taxes, failed to disclose that upfront and also did not notify the client when the return was due. Although they admitted the mistake, they still would not cover the resulting taxes and penalties.

payroll reminders and flexible pay lines

Pros

One thing that really helps with QuickBooks Payroll is the reminder system. My schedule gets hectic and with employees on different pay periods, those alerts make sure I don't miss payroll deadlines. I also appreciate how many line items it allows for things like commissions, mileage, bonuses and other pay types which makes the software really useful for handling different payroll needs.

Cons

The only downside I have run into is that commissions cannot be tied to a specific job directly through the payroll check. Aside from that, it's been an awesome program to use.

paid early and accurate

Pros

Having a credit union meant getting paid a day early which was a really nice perk. The software was simple to use and stayed consistently accurate.

Cons

My manager picked this software after already using QuickBooks for quite some time and because of the better pricing and how simple it is to work with, she's really glad she switched and has no plans to go back.

Terrible support when issues hit

Pros

It does the job without much trouble when everything is working but the moment you need assistance, there's basically none to rely on.

Cons

Customer service is really poor. As soon as a problem comes up, you're left hanging and expected to figure it out by yourself.

billing headaches and poor support

Pros

Keeping the bank account reconciled, both against the bank and online, works well.

Cons

The billing side has been frustrating and the customer service is seriously lacking. There are no direct phone numbers to reach anyone, the representatives are based in the Philippines, calls get dropped and the wait times are long. There's also no email option for support and follow-through on issues has been poor.

Smooth quickbooks payroll sync

Pros

The integration with QuickBooks Online has been a major upgrade compared with Intuit Payroll. That old import process used to create constant headaches and seemed to fail at least once every quarter so this setup feels much more reliable.

Cons

One thing that still bothers me is that some reports cannot be downloaded as spreadsheets. For example, the Payroll Details Report is basically useless in its current format because it looks more like a collection of pay stubs.

payroll tracking that just works

Pros

Getting payroll done with this software is very easy. I can clearly see how much needs to be paid and keeping track of payroll expenses is simple too.

Cons

The pricing isn't my favorite part. Now that I have 35 employees, it feels more expensive and managing everything starts to become a bit too much work for me.

Direct deposit banking mess

Pros

Things worked well and felt simple at first, right up until I had an employee enroll in direct deposit.

Cons

Once I began processing direct deposit payroll, the system kept trying to pull funds from an old bank account even though I had already updated the banking details. On top of that they tried to bill me NSF fees because of their outdated account information.

helpful payroll support team

Pros

One of the best parts has been how knowledgeable the customer service team is. Payroll is not my area of expertise so having QuickBooks support there to guide me through what needs to be done and where has been incredibly helpful. As a small business owner, I end up with a lot of questions and they are usually able to answer them every time. I am extremely happy with the level of service.

Cons

Overall I am very satisfied with both the software and the customer support.

user-friendly payroll

Pros

Using QuickBooks Payroll has made my work a lot more manageable because it's very user-friendly and genuinely helpful for getting my job done efficiently.

Cons

The only downside is that it feels a bit overpriced especially now that so many businesses have been affected or forced to close because of Covid-19.

Simple tools and mobile freedom

Pros

Running the administrative side of my business has become much more manageable with QuickBooks Online. Plus being able to handle things from my iPad gives me the flexibility to stay mobile instead of being tied to a desk. The interface is also very user friendly and simple so it does not take much effort to get things done. I can keep up with payments, invoices, project management and other day-to-day tasks all in one place. It has been a reliable fit for my workflow and I plan to keep using it.

Cons

One part I am not very happy with is the QuickBooks mobile app. Compared with the online version, it seems to be missing features and feels less easy to navigate. When I need to use QuickBooks on a mobile device, I usually end up opening the online platform on my iPad instead. I really wish the mobile app looked and functioned more like the web-based version.

payroll runs itself

Pros

After payroll is configured, QuickBooks pretty much becomes a set it and forget it part of the process. The biggest plus for me is how it handles tax payments as I don't have to spend time thinking about payroll taxes or costs because it takes care of that for you.

Cons

One thing to keep in mind is where your employees are located especially if you have people working out of state. The extra QuickBooks fees and the tax setup requirements for those employees are both things you need to plan for.

good payroll automation

Pros

The automatic tools especially tax calculations and filing, take a lot off my plate and importing bank feeds is very easy too.

Cons

The templates don't offer much room for customization which may be due to the fact that we work in construction and our invoicing needs are a bit specific. I also had to create and save a custom report to match something close to the desktop version's print check stub feature so there was a slight learning curve there and I'd still like to see that report option built in.

powerful tools for growth

Pros

Innovation really drives this service. It gives you practical ways to expand your business and keep moving your company forward.

Cons

Keeping up with all the changes can be the difficult part. I wish there were an option to leave things the way I already learned them and kind of freeze my settings while everything is in motion. Sometimes constant updates feel unnecessary and the old-school way can be enough.

Payroll and taxes made simple

Pros

Managing payroll for employees across different states has been much more easy for our company with this software. It helps us keep track of everyone properly, process payroll based on each state's requirements, handle payroll taxes, pay unemployment and withholding taxes and file quarterly reports without a lot of hassle. The customer service has also been excellent like whenever we get stuck, they take the time to walk us through exactly what needs to be done.

Cons

At this point I really haven't come across anything I dislike. As I keep learning more about the system each day, it just continues to get more manageable.
