“Integration causes scheduling confusion
Pros
Overall the platform feels user-friendly to me and I can easily navigate it while I also find uploading journal entries and memorized transactions far better than our old system.
Cons
We use the Toast POS integration and our biggest frustration now is that job codes from Toast only populate an employee's profile in this scheduling tool after they clock in using that code. It feels backwards because staff are assigned a job code at the time they are scheduled, not after they've started working. This mismatch causes confusion for managers building accurate schedules. Also I wish the notes functionality would allow entries to be linked to an email address so an email notification is triggered. Since that option doesn't exist we've continued using our old notes system.

To reduce costs and manage accounting, I used to rely on this tool and I found the third-party implementation team helpful.
Cons
For me the customer service experience started and finished with the sales team and they made a number of promises that didn't pan out. I've found incorrect billing dates and cycles, plus bank connection problems that I brought up during the sales call and was assured wouldn't be an issue but they turned out to be significant. There was no one overseeing onboarding. AP payments didn't begin until five weeks after our go-live. I've opened multiple "tickets" that remain unresolved and I have had no direct way to speak with someone to get my problems fixed.

Although I really like the range of features I do find the learning curve steep but I appreciate that it's cloud-based and that support responds quickly.
Cons
Honestly the basic accounting features should be far easier to set up and follow a more conventional structure, things like P&L, balance sheets, customer statements and the chart of accounts need a standard layout. There ought to be a default template you can customize for each business. We've never managed to use many of the extra features because they're hard to figure out and we're still struggling to clear bank items. Fixes always seem to cost extra and the onboarding felt excessive, too much information at once and very cluttered.

When I only paid attention to their sales pitch, it seemed like a dependable product. The onboarding experience was excellent and the setup was handled smoothly. I appreciate that it's cloud-based. However the dashboard took ages to show accurate data. Now it has stopped working entirely and we've been told for a month that extra resources are being assigned to fix it. If the product actually delivered everything the sales team promised, I'd consider it a great solution. Sadly, in my experience the promises made by sales and the actual functionality are out of sync.
Cons
We experienced clear misrepresentations. Before deciding to move our systems from it, a number of features were promised but we've spent countless hours trying to understand why many inventory functions, such as PARs, don't work. Eventually we were told the feature is still under development. The kinds of responses we're getting from support after a year sound like this: 'There were some issues discovered that forced us to roll it back with the intention of re-releasing it shortly after. It has been deprioritized since then, however, I am expecting it to be re-released this quarter. I will follow up with our product team to get a more concrete expectation for you.' Or: 'They are working to correct it in a more targeted fashion with additional resources now involved in the project. Regardless, I escalated your inquiry just to make sure all parties are aware of what you are experiencing.' Those replies keep coming but we still have no real solutions.

There are lots of pre-built reports that I can tweak and being able to drill into P&Ls and balance sheets has leveled up how our team audits financial statements.
Cons
I've run into a few drawbacks that frustrate me: the development team often can't resolve bugs as quickly as I'd like and sometimes fixes take far longer than I expect. I also find the search feature could use improvement, while you technically can search for anything, you usually have to guess exactly how something was entered into the system to get useful results.

One feature I really like is Bank Activity, I can import bank transactions and, after setting rules for each bank account, R3 will automatically match and post those transactions for me. The AP Invoice and Journal Entry import tools are also a huge time-saver: with a few clicks I can upload large batches of invoices (for instance I can allocate expenses across multiple locations in an Excel spreadsheet or import all of my rent invoices for a month) plus journal entries (like Deferred Rent for the full life of a lease).
Cons
I've found it can be pretty glitchy, for example, DSS will sometimes poll as out of balance and Support doesn't offer an explanation. Another point is that reports only retrieve data going back up to two years which is really inconvenient for me. Also there isn't an Excel add-in like it's eXcellent Functions so I have to manually download GL detail and enter it into an Excel model every time.

Overall I've found this software includes a bunch of genuinely useful features that have saved me a considerable amount of time. For example, the automatic inter-company transaction processing has removed countless manual steps from our month-end routine and having an EDI connection with most of our vendors dramatically cuts down invoice processing time. At first we faced frequent server connection and downtime problems but those seem to have settled and the system is much more reliable now.
Cons
From our experience, development of new features moves slowly and what is released often feels buggy. We were promised several capabilities to arrive 'very soon' when the system went live, yet many of those are only just appearing now after nearly a year and a half which has been frustrating. The built-in reports feel buggy and aren't very flexible and the way category options are organized overall comes across as odd and not convenient. Honestly the invoice and journal entry screens are visually cluttered and uncomfortable to work with for long periods and it's difficult to tell when several people are working on or approving the same invoices. They only recently rolled out workflows but in my comparison with other packages they're still pretty sparse and don't meet our expectations. Communication around planned server downtime is minimal at best which disrupts our ability to plan and get routine work done. To be fair, things have improved over time and system stability and performance are noticeably better than at the start.

What I found decent enough was that the platform gives our site-level teams real-time financial access and I like that they can generate current Income Statements without waiting on corporate.
Cons
Using this software often leaves me feeling like it's not finished, there are a lot of promised features that either aren't there yet or don't behave the way you'd expect. In my experience, the invoice approval workflow, for instance, took ages to be rolled out and even now it can be unreliable. We also ran into problems where units of measure weren't translating correctly on our reports, that turned out to be a backend bug that took the developers weeks to resolve. On top of that, stock counts have been a recurring headache: I've seen strange, unexplained pricing shifts and even inventory counts vanish after a support rep said they 'looked into' the problem. All of this makes using the tool feel frustrating and immature at times.
