“provides complete and clear case overview
Pros
This platform gives you a truly comprehensive and crystal-clear view of every single detail in a case. What really stands out is how seamlessly the calendar is integrated, it's right there when you need it, making scheduling and deadlines feel completely effortless
Cons
Getting the lawyers on board to actually use it is the real challenge, though that's a common problem whenever you introduce any new piece of technology to attorneys.

“Easy to navigate with useful tools
Pros
The platform is easy to navigate, it manages huge amounts of data without a problem and it comes packed with useful tools. Also I frequently use the deadline calculator, time tracking features and the Word-compatible document templates, along with critical date reminders and scheduling which are proven helpful.
Cons
I feel like it would be really helpful to have a way to highlight or bold certain fields in the status area making the important information stand out more.

“Good, But Theres Better Out There for Firm Management
Pros
From the start of my career in a law firm, I have been using this product. While it has a few quirks here and there, it worked well for what we needed. We would have continued with Amicus Attorney if they hadn't discontinued supporting the integration with PCLaw.
Cons
The software has its quirks, but once you get used to it, you can find ways to work around them. That said, there are other products out there that cost less and offer better features.

“outgrown by modern alternatives
Pros
This was the first case management system I ever used when I started out in the legal field. While it has its little peculiarities, it served us well as a solid platform. Our firm would have stuck with Amicus Attorney if they had not ended their integration with PCLaw.
Cons
The software has a few irregularities but you learn to navigate them once you get used to how it works. That said, let me tell you that you can find more powerful products for a lower price.

“Totally Worth the Investment
Pros
Amicus Attorney is a great case management tool specifically designed for legal professionals. Its clear interface helps streamline tasks, making managing a law practice more efficient. The integration with other software is impressive, although beginners might find the learning curve slightly challenging. Overall, Amicus Attorney is a valuable investment for firms looking to modernize their workflows.

“A Decent Product, But Not the Best
Pros
I never find myself lost or overwhelmed when using it, which is a huge plus. Its simplicity allows me to focus on getting things done quickly without having to spend time figuring out how to work through the system. This ease of use has really been the standout feature for me.

“Law Firm Tools Are Overpriced!
Pros
Amicus Attorney was an excellent program back when you could actually buy the software. It had top-notch time and billing functions, an efficient calendar, great client and contact management, and was overall an excellent tool for legal case management. Then they switched to a subscription model, and my overhead costs nearly quadrupled.
Cons
Initially, it was around $399 or $499 annually for a single user license before switching to a subscription model, and you could stretch out upgrades every other year. Now, the annual subscription is roughly $828 per user, with no choice but to pay it every year to continue using the software. It's a complete rip-off. Integration with QuickBooks has always been tricky, but it's doable once you get the hang of its quirks. I refuse to subscribe due to the exorbitant pricing. Unfortunately, now that all systems have moved to this model, it's hard to find any affordable case management solutions for very small firms.

“Amicus Has Been Reliable Over the Years

“Too Many Tech Issues to Ignore
Pros
I've been using Amicus for my law practice for the last five years, and before that, I used its predecessor. Out of all the platforms I've tried, it has one of the most interactive interfaces. It's fairly adaptable and allows for a good degree of customization. Its document generation features are some of the best I've come across. It's a solid all-in-one law firm solution and is priced competitively with less options. The client portal is also quite convenient.
Cons
Amicus has become bogged down with so many added features over time that it feels like the code is collapsing under the weight. It's glitchy, and the constant crashes are exhausting. I get the sense they keep tacking on more functions to an underlying structure that simply can't handle it, making the whole program very unstable.

“An Okay Experience, Nothing Special
Pros
If you're looking for technical support, it's virtually nonexistent. From what I can tell, there are only two people handling tech support, and you could be waiting months for a response that doesn't resolve the issue. We've had recurring problems with dropped emails for years, and there still is not a fix. We're switching soon.
Cons
There's no way to mark calendar events, like continued or settled items, in a way that lets me keep them visible while differentiating them, like using a different color or greying them out. Also, there's no alert system to notify the team when a file has used up its retainer, which often leads to extra work being done without realizing we won't get paid.

Pros

“Missing notifications and poor support
Pros
There isn't much to praise here from my perspective. Features don't function as advertised and getting support from Amicus to resolve issues takes way too long.
Cons
Missing payment notifications are frustrating and we've had ongoing issues with document generation for one user since the latest update. Support keeps blaming our Word version, even though everyone else uses the same version without problems. I noticed their help team seems more focused on finding excuses than actually solving issues, it's never there fault apparently. The lack of cloud functionality also makes my remote work more difficult than it should be.

“Youre Not Getting Your Moneys Worth Here
Pros
We're able to customize pages and add new fields for collecting data, but the data becomes useless if you can't generate useful reports, which is what this program struggles with unless you have a degree from MIT. The support is slightly above average, but we had to reach out almost daily.
Cons
Too many issues to count. Quality control is dreadful, and every version upgrade breaks something that had been fixed in previous versions. We no longer trust the calendar function as it never syncs properly with Outlook, despite promises to the contrary. Since switching to a subscription-based model, it's no longer cost-effective for us. We ended up hiring a developer to create a custom program with the same features Amicus Attorney provided. This solution has cut our annual costs by 90%, giving us a more powerful system and much better support.

“modernizing the legal practice game
Pros
This software integrates various features like document management for clients, contacts, task tracking, timekeeping, billing, and even email functions. One of the major advantages is its accessibility online and through a mobile app, so you don't always need your laptop. It organizes emails, documents, and other files by client, which is extremely helpful in staying organized. Depending on how you set it up, a lot of these tasks are automated by the program. It supports collaboration by allowing multiple users to access and work on client files simultaneously. I also appreciate its integration with QuickBooks and how it handles both operating and client trust accounts, although QuickBooks is the only financial software it connects with. I've been using this program for nearly a year and still discover new features daily that help me work more effectively for my clients. The technical support team is fantastic, and their dedication is a big reason why I've stuck with the software despite the steep learning curve. I also like that there's an open forum for users to suggest improvements, and it's impressive that Amicus actually implements those changes. That's a great added value.
Cons
The program has some limitations. While it integrates well with Microsoft Word, it doesn't work at all with WordPerfect, which many attorneys prefer. Amicus has said they're considering adding WordPerfect integration, but for now, it's a noticeable gap. Another issue is the 20 GB space limit, which is not much these days, and upgrading your account is quite expensive. The program does integrate with Dropbox for additional storage, but oddly, it doesn't work with Microsoft OneDrive, something else Amicus says they're considering adding. You should be aware of this limitation, as it can significantly raise the actual cost of using this platform. Document management can be a bit clunky too, especially when it comes to saving and organizing different versions of the same file. Email management is also time-consuming, as there's no way to select an entire conversation for filing, so you have to clean up both your inbox and sent mail manually. This eats up a lot of time. Occasionally, the system times out or freezes as well.

“our upgrade was worth it
Pros
Amicus always aims to make its products easy to understand and learn, and this one definitely fits that bill. I especially like how it displays documents, allowing you to see them once they're attached to a file. It's also simple to add notes about the documents. When I review medical records, I can easily input notes on the file. The tech support team is always helpful and friendly.
Cons
I've faced numerous glitches with this latest update that I don't like. One issue is when adding a new person to a file, you can choose from the contact list, but there's no way to double-check if the address is correct. For example, we have doctors who work from multiple locations, and the old Amicus program let us verify this information. Another problem is that if someone else has the file open, I can't cut and paste from the custom pages section, which is frustrating when I'm doing depo billing and the attorney has the file open. Also, many of us have older eyes, and when we enlarge the screen resolution, it distorts the information on file, making it hard to see phone numbers and emails. Finally, the program doesn't let you copy and paste fax numbers without removing the parentheses, which is annoying when we use RingCentral for faxing.

Pros
I like that I can have all my clients and cases easily accessible.
Cons
The mobile app has a lot of shortcomings. After using it for a couple of years, I still can't see my calendar on the app or sync it with Outlook. “great fit for smaller law firms
Pros
The product is generally user-friendly. Email, phone calls, tasks, calendaring, contact management, document handling, time tracking, expenses, and billing are all well integrated. The new client portal is also very useful.
Cons
The client portal could use more refinement, especially when dealing with multiple clients in a file who need different levels of access to documents. We'd be more inclined to use document templates if we understood how to set up variable paragraphs better. Security controls need to be expanded to allow for more granular access control, such as the ability to delete or rename folders we've created without having admin privileges, while still preventing changes to folders others have made. It would also be great to see built-in document editors instead of having to edit files offline and then re-upload them.

“document management could be smoother
Pros
It's easy to keep track of client details and see who's working on what, plus scheduling events is simple.
Cons
Document management is a nightmare. Like many others, I organize all my files in Windows subfolders, and the software doesn't support that workflow. It's also tough to get a quick overview of a case's status at a glance; the chronology function is too basic and only provides a linear, time-based view. Email integration is a mess too, with multiple duplicate copies of messages and no easy way to search for them. Also, creating letters to contacts on firm letterhead should be simple, but even the seminars don't explain it well. The server version crashes frequently, causing us to lose notes. Sticky notes are hard to use, and custom pages are really basic.
