limitations with billing dependency

Pros

I really value the technical support team who have been so patient with me. When I first started almost a year ago, there were several features I needed it to handle. Largely, those needs were met to my satisfaction. What stands out most for me is that program lets me operate from home. After a year of using it, I'm reasonably satisfied with the overall experience and functionality of the software.

Cons

It really frustrates me that billing can't be handled directly inside it. Frankly, QuickBooks Online is something I dislike and I'd much prefer all client invoices to be created in it while keeping my QuickBooks as the desktop application I've relied on for over fifteen years. Having to subscribe to QuickBooks Online just to use it feels like an unfair extra expense. I'm repeating that I dislike QBO and I'm unwilling to upgrade from the basic online plan. Considering what I pay monthly for it plus QuickBooks, I've already spent more than the price of purchasing standalone billing software and it hasn't even been a year yet. The biggest downside for me remains that it integrates only with QuickBooks Online. Also, I wish it could automatically generate a statement or bill for months where no time entries occurred, so it would include any outstanding balance from prior invoices. At the moment, I still have to pull and reprint past-due invoices from QuickBooks every month which is annoying and it's really a waste of time.

user-friendly and indispensable features

Pros

My favorite aspect is how user-friendly the features are. The program is incredibly easy and easy to navigate and it has proven to be an indispensable tool for our practice.

Cons

I'd like there to be checkboxes beside each time entry so I can pick or unpick the specific rows I want to export into an Excel spreadsheet which would make exporting much more flexible.

simple time entry

Pros

Entering my time feels very easy and moving billing over to QuickBooks hasn't caused me any issues. Everything connects smoothly which saves me from extra accounting work.

Cons

What I'd really like is a way to tag time entries with predefined tasks (the app does let you assign tasks now) and then pull analytics from those task tags to help set future fixed-fee pricing. Also, I find the fixed-fee template hard to understand and somewhat confusing for my workflow.

5.0

clean layout and precise tracking

Pros

it has a clean and uncluttered look that's pleasant to work in. I like that I can track time in tenths of an hour and the desktop app lets me log time across different matters without slowing down. Our firm benefits a lot from the direct QuickBooks connection since invoices rarely need manual prep. The reports are dependable and keep getting better, letting me quickly check revenue, productivity and even profitability for fixed-fee work.

Cons

I don't find much to complain about with it once you grasp its intended purpose. It's designed specifically as a aligned time-tracking and billing tool for smaller, efficiency-focused law firms. I understand it isn't meant to offer things like client portals, file storage or sharing, or those kinds of extras and it never will.

missing Outlook plugin

Pros

At its current price, the software feels fair and reasonable to me. I believe the value lines up well with what it offers.

Cons

It would be extremely useful to me if it provided a plugin or could integrate with Outlook and other email clients so billing from email correspondence could be captured automatically.

quick onboarding with helpful tutorials

Pros

Getting started with it didn't take long at all in my experience. The tutorial videos and in-app chat support helped me feel comfortable and productive within just a few hours.

Cons

It's disappointing that I need to pay for a separate subscription just to add a second timekeeper which feels like an unnecessary extra cost.

friendly and natural workflow navigation

Pros

I genuinely enjoy how friendly the layout feels when I'm working. Moving between individual clients and specific matters feels natural and doesn't interrupt my workflow.

Cons

There are times when I can't tell whether I'm looking at a time entry for a single client or for every client during the chosen time frame.

5.0

time-tracking and simple invoicing

Pros

What stands out for me is the time-tracking setup and how invoicing flows directly into QuickBooks. That connection makes billing much less of a chore on busy days.

Cons

It used to integrate directly with my Gmail and Google Drive accounts and since that support was dropped I really wish those integrations were still available.

easy learning and smooth daily integration

Pros

Learning the system didn't take much effort for me and fitting it into my daily routine felt natural. It blended into my practice without disruption.

Cons

We found it strange that there were only a few "tasks" available, although we managed to add our own descriptions for the clients.

easier workflow compared to other programs

Pros

Compared to other programs I've used before, this one feels far easier for me to work with. I spend less time figuring things out and more time actually getting work done.

Cons

However, it includes a bunch of extra L&A codes that don't work with my client's invoicing software which causes integration headaches for me.

Pros

Working with the software has been smooth and the support team has truly impressed me. Every time I've reached out, the help has been thoughtful and reliable.

Cons

On my phone the app works adequately, however I feel it could be designed more simplely so I can enter information faster.

real-time schedule and billable hours tracking

Pros

Being able to see my schedule and billable hours update throughout the day is something I really value. The calendar view helps me track everything as it happens, so I don't have to backtrack later.

Cons

this is somewhat clunky the last time I used it, so I usually end up logging my hours later at the office or when I'm able to get to a laptop instead of recording time while I'm out and about.

simple system with fair pricing

Pros

What I appreciate most is how simple the system feels, especially the timers. The per-license pricing seems fair to me and the steady rollout of new features keeps it feeling fresh.

Cons

I've found the mobile app is very limited: it only lets me log time for the current day and create new clients or matters but that's about it.

firm-wide billing made easier

Pros

Using it has made billing easier across our entire firm. Setting up the QuickBooks connection didn't take long and it's helped improve productivity, from cleaner invoices to smoother collaboration with our bookkeepers and tax advisors.

Cons

We're aware that a handful of macros are still being adjusted by it and we recognize that's part of continuous improvement. I'd really like to see built-in simple calculation capabilities, for example, automatically totaling mileage or copy counts. Fortunately, it has been very open to our suggestions for making the interface easier to navigate and they actively listen when we propose usability enhancements.

Full Control Over Time Tracking

Pros

From my experience, the system makes it simple for me to log my hours and make changes on my own. I don't need to reach out to support staff just to adjust time entries which gives me more control.

Cons

I sometimes struggle to go back and update client details, especially file numbers, once they've been entered into the system, it may just be user error on my part.

Fair Pricing with Simple Integration

Pros

I'm satisfied with it's pricing because it feels fair for what I get. It allows me to track time, set up clients and matters and monitor receivables without extra effort. The direct connection to QuickBooks Online works well for me and feels comfortable to use day to day.

Cons

interface could use improvement, I've found it a bit clumsy in places. For example, trust accounting sits under the Billing menu even though it's really a separate group of functions which makes navigation awkward. The calendar is a neat idea but it doesn't tie to the actual time periods when I'm working on a matter. I would appreciate on/off toggles or dedicated buttons for switching active matters more quickly and having the option to customize trust reports would be extremely useful for my workflow.

Reliable QuickBooks Connection

Pros

My favorite part has been how reliably it connects with QuickBooks and how clearly it lets me keep track of my time. Watching hours add up correctly gives me peace of mind.

Cons

That said, the QuickBooks sync is pretty limited, I've had difficulty getting my trust accounting to function correctly and I'd really like the ability to customize those settings more to fit my needs.
