“efficient invoice tracking
Pros
What I like best about it billing is how smoothly it integrates with our systems, tracking invoices has become noticeably more efficient and less of a issue. I'm also pleased with its flexibility in handling different billing arrangements, the ability to support flat fees as well as hourly rates has been very helpful for our law firm.
Cons
Setting it up was initially challenging, especially for anyone who isn't familiar with legal billing systems and I found the learning curve can be quite time-consuming. When issues do arise, they have the potential to disrupt the billing process and create real interruptions in our workflow.

“simple billing with easy integration
Pros
I find the time tracking and billing process with this software to be incredibly simple and effective. It makes my life so much easier by handling everything I need without overcomplicating things. I used to dread tracking time and billing but now it's become something I don't mind at all. It's super easy and I can rely on it to get things done with zero problems.
Cons
only downside I've found is that it needs integration with QuickBooks. I really hope they partner with a cheaper and more flexible alternative soon.

“Works for my timekeeping and billing needs
Pros
Well I find LeanLaws overall usability to be quite impressive. The software is designed in a perfect manner as it offers a wealth of functions. Also I have seen comments from some users about their inability to customize invoices but I am not sure what they were experiencing since I have had no trouble customizing our invoices, emails and various communication elements with our clients. This capability gives our small company the appearance of a large company with a dedicated IT department. We are very happy with it!
Cons
We have been using LeanLaw software for 6 months and have not faced any sort of trouble. I would love to give some feedback on this but honestly, it is so much better than our old software and meets all of our needs.

“friendly tool with simple functionality
Pros
Overall it is easy to use. I love how everything is laid out in such a simple, user-friendly format. It offers so much functionality without overwhelming you. Some users have mentioned not being able to customize their invoices but I honestly have no idea what they are talking about because I've had zero issues customizing not just the invoices but also the emails and pretty much all the communication with my clients. It's made our small firm look super professional, almost like we have a massive IT department working behind the scenes. Honestly... we love it!

I really like how easily it synchronizes with QuickBooks. the integration works perfectly and I never have to worry about manually transferring data. Another feature I love is how easy it is to apply different tax rates depending on the jurisdiction while tracking time and billing. It's such a convenient tool and I feel so much more in control of my finances because of it.

“Great integration with Quickbooks
Pros
I find LeanLaw easy to learn and use. Also the web based interface is clean, simple and easy to navigate. It very well manages time entry, billing and trust accounting, which is important because QuickBooks either lacks these features or executes them so poorly that they become confusing. However Leanlaws integration with QuickBooks is outstanding and dependable. I learned to use both QuickBooks and Leanlaw side by side and I found the process to be easier than I anticipated. While QuickBooks is a more complex system, Leanlaw manages to keep its functions distinct while maintaining excellent integration. I have been quite impressed with it.
Cons
This is more of a bug than a dislike but if you leave it open in your browser for a while, you can start typing a time entry or expense entry. Only after hitting Enter will it notify you that you need to log in again and then you lose your entry.

“Quick and efficient reporting
Pros
I like that its cloud-based and online which allows us to use it from anywhere. This ease makes it easier for timekeepers to post their dockets and for me to access it from home. I also find it quick to run reports on expenses and time like with PCLaw, it could take up to half an hour but with LeanLaw it only takes a few seconds.
Cons
Regarding billing, I know they are working on adding a select/deselect-all function which would save me from having to remove thousands of entries slowly and that is good. However I find that when we have a large invoice with many entries, LeanLaw software becomes very slow and nearly unusable. Also I did like to see more reports mainly regarding our Work in Progress and expenses on a specific date. Currently when I set the date parameters, it excludes everything billed after that date which is problematic for our financial statements because we need to view it as of that date. This is a major issue for our company. I would also like to see more options for writing off invoices. Right now you can do it with QuickBooks Online but when running reports, it still shows those times as being billed, which can be an issue since we base bonuses on billings and those entries were actually written off, not billed.

“Important for Quickbooks
Pros
We decided to use QuickBooks Online for Attorneys and spent three months trying to make it functional. Everything required a workaround to make it suitable for an attorney's office. In our CPA's words, LeanLaw puts a 'pretty face on QBO' by creating those workarounds for you and translating everything into a language and processes that are friendly for law offices. “Great features at a great price
Pros
I really like that the service does not come with too many unnecessary features. All I need it for is time tracking and submitting bills and invoices to QuickBooks. I previously used different software for my firm which had way too many functions that I never used which makes the price high and not worth it for me.
Cons
I encounter few issues when entering specific time entries. For example if I try to log a quarter of an hour (0.25) or three-quarters of an hour (0.75), I cannot submit the bill to QuickBooks because I think the system does not recognize more than one decimal place. This is frustrating since I often work with 0.25 or 0.75 forcing me to go back and edit multiple entries which wastes my time. I also do not particularly like the look or aesthetic of the program but that is not a major concern.

“cloud access for team anywhere
Pros
I appreciate that it's cloud-based and available online which lets our team access it from anywhere. That makes it much easier for the timekeepers to post their dockets and also allows me to handle things from home without issue. I also really value how fast it is to run reports on time and expenses, in my experience PCLaw sometimes took up to half an hour for a single report, whereas it produces the same report in just a few seconds.
Cons
Billing is the area where I run into the most headaches. They're promising to add a select/deselect-all option which will save me from having to slowly uncheck thousands of line items one by one and that's encouraging. However, when an invoice contains a huge number of line entries the system becomes painfully slow, practically unusable for those large bills. I also wish the reporting set was richer, specifically, I need to pull WIP and Expense balances as of a particular historical date. At present when I set date parameters the system still omits anything billed after that date instead of showing the ledger as it would have appeared on that date and we need that view for accurate financial statements, so it's a significant problem for our firm. Another gap is write-off handling: while I can perform write-offs through QBO, the reports still reflect those time entries as billed. That is problematic because we calculate some bonuses based on billed amounts and those figures shouldn't include items that were subsequently written off.
