fast billing and helpful support

Pros

Being able to pull up file numbers quickly for both open and closed matters has been a huge help. Sending invoices by email is something we have never had before and it has made our process much better. Having a dedicated client success manager to contact is incredibly important. Although we have worked with a few over the years, they have all been amazing. Our current rep is especially excellent and I really hope she stays. One interesting thing about it is that there are usually 3 to 5 different ways to complete the same task. That can be a benefit because you can choose the method that works best for you. At the same time, it can also make it harder to remember which path you used before unless it's something you do regularly. The Fee Wise integration is another nice addition especially with QR codes built into invoices for online payments. Correcting invoices is also very simple and honestly that deserves to be near the top of the list because it is extremely efficient. Something that used to take me an entire day now only takes a few hours. Our data migration from PCLaw to LEAP went relatively smoothly. it also puts real effort into training new users and I was very pleased with the onboarding. Having a rep available for questions was incredibly reassuring and ours even walked me through billing during the first few months.

Cons

The conflict search is one of the weaker parts ofit.itonly brings up clients who have actually been opened so if someone has not formally retained you and you have not opened a file or created a card for them, they will not show up in the conflict search. That feels strange for a program built specifically for law firms.italso works in batches, with each attorney having a separate batch. Since we have several attorneys, generating bills takes quite a bit of time and even after a few years I still rely on a cheat sheet or checklist when I am finishing billing. On top of learningit, we also had to buy and learn QBO which I do not find user friendly at all. Monthly reimbursement checks for attorneys can also be a hassle. If an attorney buys supplies and also has mileage tied to a client, that ends up requiring two different checks. Asystemcheck for matter-related reimbursement and a QBO check for other reimbursement. The late fee and overdue invoice setup is especially frustrating.itcreates a separate late fee invoice for every overdue invoice so clients making small payments over a long period can end up with 12 invoices generated in a single month.itis absurd and very time consuming to deal with. There is also no option to simply exclude an invoice from billing. We have around 100 court appointments that must be billed only at the end of the case in federal criminal matters and to keep those out of billing I have to manually uncheck each invoice every time.

excellent training

Pros

LEAP stood out because the tools are excellent and easy to learn and use. A big reason for that is the outstanding training provided by its installers and trainers. Not long after installation, I was already entering client data and opening matters and within a week I had started billing. it's clear the software was built by lawyers who understand the key parts of client management. The search feature saves a lot of time, documents can be stored directly in the client's matter, duplication is reduced and overall it delivers strong value for the money.

Cons

One downside is that the cost of training had been a barrier for me before. I was only able to afforditbecause of a special credit offered in January since my previous firm's would not cover the training costs up front. That same cost issue also makesitharder when I recommenditto colleagues. Even so, I am thankful I was able to take advantage of the discount that was available.

amazing client success support

Pros

A big reason I value LEAP is our Client Success Manager. He has been fantastic to work with and consistently goes above and beyond whenever we need help resolving issues.

Cons

What would really improveitfor us is faster, more responsive help from the Helpdesk, along with direct access to knowledgeable experts who can quickly diagnose and fix problems without delays or constant follow-ups. Having software issues resolved the same day would make a huge difference in our overall experience withit.
