Document Review Made Simple With Nextpoint

Pros

The design of the software makes finding and reviewing documents easy. Navigating through a document and conducting searches is both quick and easy.

Cons

I found reviewing or marking multiple documents at once to be a bit challenging. Also, printing a PDF of a specific document was not as easy as I would have liked.

A Great Option That Wont Break the Bank

Pros

The software is simple to use. It's designed with ease in mind, making searches swift, and the bulk tagging feature is incredibly practical.

Cons

Some important metadata fields are not easily accessible, and there's no way to get into the backend of the database to make edits, like adjusting productions or re-uploading load files. Also, there's a cap on certain tasks, like processing a maximum of 5,000 documents, which becomes difficult when managing large datasets.

Nextpoints Support Team is Exceptional

Pros

What truly sets Nextpoint apart is not just its many greaty features, but the personalized support provided by its skilled and approachable team. For small firms like ours, feeling appreciated by our software partner is just as critical as the software itself meeting our needs. The Nextpoint team consistently finds creative solutions for the challenging situations we've faced. We've never encountered a complex issue that didn't have a resolution, even when it went beyond the typical scope of eDiscovery tools. If you're looking for a service that offers a white-glove, personalized experience, Nextpoint is hands down the best choice out there.

Cons

I believe the pricing for near-duplicate searches could definitely use some updates.

Insights from a Trial Paralegal Using Nextpoint

Pros

One of the most impressive aspects of Nextpoint is its powerful organizational tools, which allow users to categorize data by facts, people, and issues in a way that aligns with the trial workflow. Plus, its remote access featuures prove invaluable in the courtroom, enabling legal professionals to manage case documents, files, and evidence in real time, such as locating and highlighting exhibits or depositions as needed during proceedings.

Cons

The system has limitations when it comes to mapping all the metadata fields during import. This complicates data representation and may require manual fixes to ensure accuracy.

A Mixed Bag of Good and Bad Experiences

Pros

The ability to create folders based on specific issues is incredibly useful. Nextpoint also makes it simple to compile and share a production set with opposing counsel. Uploading and downloading documents is hassle-free, and I appreciate how it generates exhibit lists effortlessly.

Cons

The separation between the litigation and discovery sides is inconvenient, as they don't easily connect. Also, many tasks seem to require more steps than in other databases. You can't simply tag one document and have the same tags applied to the following documents automatically, meaning you have to manually code or tag each one. Searches sometimes return irrelevant documents, and you can't export marked redactions for attorney review in a simple manner. Creating issues on the fly is also not possible. There are workarounds for features that come standard in other systems and not all data columns can be sorted. Adjusting the review columns doesn't hold after you exit the view. Exported PDFs are searchable, but search terms aren't highlighted, so you have to scan the entire page. Moreover, the main dashboard listing all Matters isn't searchable, and you have to create a project, then a discovery, then litigation, instead of just setting up a project and uploading the files.

Your Go-To for Deposition Transcript Management

Pros

The user interface is the best I've come across. The customer support is exceptional. The development team is receptive to feedback from users and takes critiques seriously.

Cons

The product is constantly improving, but there are still some areas where more development is needed. I'm confident these will be resolved if the company keeps up a good dialogue with its users.

A Must-Have for Every Law Firm

Pros

In today's paperless office setting, it's essential that discovery is not billed based on storage needs. Nextpoint's user-based billing model saves our clients money and helps us predict discovery costs regardless of the case size.

Cons

Exchanging documents with other law firms under an ESI agreement can be tedious because each platform dictates its own production standards, which has caused problems in some cases. The industry needs to settle on a universal standard or at least provide export templates for major services. Despite this, the support team is always ready to assist when needed.

eDiscovery That Feels Effortless

Pros

Starting a database from the ground up with Nextpoint is quite smooth. After a few training sessions or by referring to the extensive guides, setting up the database becomes a smooth process.

Cons

As the product evolves rapidly, I've faced occasional glitches that may slow down the process or cause minor work losses. That said, the helpdesk is always available and quick to provide support!

Overall, A Solid Program

Pros

Importing and reviewing documents is simple. I find the tagging system to be extremely useful. Though exporting can be a bit confusing but that could just be a lack of familiarity on my part.

Cons

My team uses the highlighting feature to indicate proposed redactions, and it's quite time-consuming to manually switch each highlighted section to a redaction one by one. Also, the system takes a considerable amount of time to process each of these changes.

Perfect Fit for Mid-Sized Law Firms

Pros

As a web-based platform with unlimited storage and training options, both in-person and virtual, Nextpoint has quick and responsive customer service. I never have to wait more than 30 minutes for a response, and I like the ability to manage databases related to litigation, legacy files, and e-discovery all in one place.

Cons

While the license cost is in line with other database services, there's noticeable lag when handling large uploads.

Smart Search Tools for Long Documents

Pros

It's simple to review and code documents in an efficient manner.

Cons

Initially, getting to grips with Nextpoint was frustrating, but once I became familiar with its features, it genuinely made the work easier. The one downside is that importing documents on the backend can take quite a while.

User-Friendly and Excellent Support

Pros

What stands out most is the training format and how accessible the "how-to" resources are afterward. Training materials are delivered through concise videos and accompanying articles that are organized by category, allowing everyone to learn at their own pace. With our last eDiscovery software, a representative came to our office for in-person training, but I was completely lost after two hours. The remaining three days were a blur, and I learned nothing. With Nextpoint, I can always refer back to their video and written guides, which I've done countless times. The features that have been most helpful to me so far are the analytics page for projects, the OCR of documents during import, the ability to search and create review folders based on searches, adding outside reviewers, and the reporting tools for exports. Switching to a cloud-based system has been a big plus for our firm. While uploads and downloads can take a bit longer, which is expected, it's far more accessible for both us and our clients.

Cons

When exporting documents for production, they often come out in a random order, which is an ongoing issue with opposing counsel and is not something we can control. Nextpoint allows chronological exports, which is great if they're grouped by category, like company, bank, or medical records. However, HEIC files are not supported, and they must be converted into image formats. Redactions are done on a page-by-page basis, and bulk redaction is a paid feature. In my opinion, full redaction capabilities should be included in a user's standard plan.

A Reliable Tool That Delivers Consistently

Pros

It's very smooth to use and offers better features than leading competitors like Everlaw and Relativity.

Cons

Occasionally, bugs can be a pain, particularly in sorting and filtering, but they do get resolved quickly. I'm not a fan of the redaction tool, and the reps know it! However, I know it's a work in progress. While I definitely prefer Nextpoint over Everlaw, I do like some aspects of Everlaw's redaction tool and versioning process, even though there are parts of both platforms I'm not fond of. Overall, there's very little I dislike about Nextpoint.

This Changed Everything for Us

Pros

Working in a field with large volumes of data, I needed a tool that could help manage costs and enhance the user experience. Nextpoint offered me both with its flat monthly fee for unlimited data and cases. The system is very smooth to use, from importing to processing and reviewing. I've been able to train attorneys to access cases remotely in about 15 minutes.

Cons

I really like this system, but there's still room for improvement. My top wish is for a way to monitor the processing. For example, when a batch is Bates labeling, I'd love to see something that shows it's "75% complete." From what I hear, this feature is in development.

A Stellar eDiscovery Solution

Pros

The software is relatively easy to work with, and the online help features are particularly beneficial. We've also had great experiences with the Nextpoint team, who are consistently responsive, friendly, and helpful.

Cons

Over the years of using this platform, most of our concerns have been addressed through updates. That said, Nextpoint is not quite as powerful as some of the top-tier eDiscovery tools, but considering its pricing, I think the trade-off is fair.

Nextpoint Keeps Everything Organized

Pros

Document management is by far the feature I rely on the most. I like how Nextpoint allows me to organize and categorize data efficiently. The bulk change feature also simplifies document classification.

Cons

When working with cases that involve numerous documents, scrolling can be slow, and the search function sometimes times out before I'm done typing.
