Frequent freezes & downtime issues

Pros

I find the interface really simple which makes it easy to use during daily tasks. I also like that it connects smoothly with Law Pay.

Cons

However I run into frequent freezes and the program is often unavailable for lengthy stretches during the workday.

Mobile timekeeping limitations & sync problems

Pros

My clients are able to pay online. Honestly I can't come up with any other features to praise.

Cons

Honestly the timekeeping features are awful. I can't change the start and stop times after the fact which is frustrating when entries need correcting. I also can't run or pause multiple timers from the mobile app so managing simultaneous tasks is a nonstarter on my phone. The app auto-saves constantly and every time it does it shoves the cursor to the end of whatever I'm typing in an entry which drives me nuts. I tried starting a timer and then adding the client and matter afterward but that causes the recorded time to round up so I lose accuracy. The G Suite integration is disappointing. It doesn't pull in every field from Google Contacts and the custom fields I set up in it never make their way into Google Contacts either. That ends up creating a lot of duplicated data entry, exactly the opposite of what I hoped to solve by adopting practice management software. The Google Drive sync is just as problematic. Apparently you can't have similarly named folders across different client directories, for example, Client_01\general and Client_02\general throw an error and then none of my Google Drive documents show up inside it. Billing is another weak spot. I can't link multiple companies or business entities to the same person so when a contact owns several client businesses I can't list them all under that single contact. On top of that, invoices can only be emailed to individuals who are explicitly listed under the company so I resorted to creating multiple fake contacts labeled "Accounts Payable" just to send bills out. That workaround ate up my allowed entries and I ran out of space.

excellent Outlook integration

Pros

I've found that it really shines in its Outlook integration. From inside the platform I can send emails that actually go out through Outlook while also being saved to the file. Incoming messages are easy to add by dragging and dropping from the Outlook side. On top of that, the software offers stronger document automation and more flexible workflows than other products I've tried.

Cons

At the matter level, the dashboard could use work. everything I need is present but I end up hopping between tabs to locate details quickly and inefficiently. I'd prefer a 'status' feed placed at the top that lets me pull reports for all open matters and their current statuses, rather than the feed that sits at the bottom of the case dashboard which we rarely, if ever, use in practice.

Balanced CrM and accounting features

Pros

Of all the competitors I checked out I felt this tool struck the best balance between CRM and accounting features.

Cons

Gmail integration feels awkward for me right now as generating and BCC'ing a code for every email is time-consuming and easy to forget, it would really help if the system could suggest filing locations for recognized contacts.

Comprehensive all-in-one tool

Pros

Honestly this has it all. From client management, matter tracking, case records and calendaring, to invoicing, payment processing and the client portal, you name it and the tool includes it. If I point out something missing, they often add it soon. I've found them very responsive to client feedback and requests.

Cons

There honestly aren't any complaints from my side overall as the software is excellent though controlling mail sync with short URL formats might be useful for me once I explore it further.

easy app with smooth integration

Pros

I've found the app pretty easy to use and not overly hard to pick up though you do need to put in the time and energy to get comfortable with it. It plugs in smoothly with our email system and billing processes which makes daily workflows much easier. The product feels community-focused and genuinely helps us keep track of how much time we're spending on cases so customers can clearly see they're getting value for their money. Their customer support line is responsive and I've built a really strong relationship with Ori and Seth on the product team which has made collaboration and problem-solving much more effective.

Cons

Small tweaks and minor requests sometimes seem to get overlooked by the technical team in my experience which can be frustrating when quick fixes would make a difference.

360-degree solution with strong API & app integrations

Pros

For my law practice, I find it to be an all-around 360-degree solution. I'm impressed that it's built on a strong API which lets me link it to other apps and tools, helping me boost my productivity.

Cons

Like with Clio and other rivals I find that some features are missing but I appreciate that the team is genuinely eager to hear our needs and actively works to roll out updates as quickly as they can.

Task scheduling with reminders & time entry

Pros

My law firm began using this tool around March 2019. Scheduling tasks on it, is really easy and user-friendly. I'm able to add tasks for any date and the system sends me email reminders when those items come due. every morning I can scan my calendar to organize my day and plan out the week ahead. Another feature I appreciate is the time entry tool which makes it simple to record and add my billable hours quickly.

Cons

Main improvement I'd like to see is a faster, more convenient way to bill identical time entries across multiple clients when I'm entering the same work for several people. Since our firm handles class action matters, I routinely perform the same tasks and log the same billable time for numerous clients. It would be helpful to be able to create a time entry and then quickly tick off the clients to which that entry applies. The existing multiple time entry functionality is useful but it feels like it could be enhanced to cover this use case.

email integration & workflow keeps team

Pros

I really appreciate the email integration. The workflow tool is incredibly useful and helps keep everyone aware of their assigned responsibilities. Our firm values the flexibility to include whatever details we require depending on the specific kind of case we're handling.

Cons

We don't use the payment feature because our firm isn't using that portion of the program right now.

simple navigation with responsive support

Pros

Overall I find the software very simple and easy to use, navigation feels natural and it's genuinely user-friendly. When I've needed help, tech support responded quickly and showed a lot of patience. In my experience it keeps rolling out meaningful updates and actually pays attention to user feedback. They resolved the sluggish calendar problem we had, it's noticeably faster now and performs well in daily use.

Cons

There is definitely room for improvement when it comes to features and functionality. (1) For example, the calendar layout doesn't work well for mid-sized to larger firms with more than ten employees. In our office everyone's events end up scattered and often overlap which makes it hard to quickly tell who is free at a given time. The system assigns a different color to each person and following more than ten colors on a screen becomes confusing, not to mention that it's almost unusable for team members who are color-blind. I really wish there were dedicated columns per staff member so we could see availability at a glance, the way Time Matters from Lexis Nexis displays calendars. (2) Another major pain point is the lack of sorting for custom fields. The customization options are one of the reasons we chose this software but custom fields not being sortable reduces the usefulness of our data. As a legal administrator responsible for managing the data and producing productivity reports, I've been spending an excessive amount of time exporting data to excel sorting and cleaning it there and then returning to it to apply necessary updates. That extra back-and-forth is time-consuming and inefficient and it takes away from higher-value administrative work. Overall the platform is promising but these improvements would make it far more practical for larger legal teams.

Centralized client files for billing

Pros

For me it's simple to keep a client database up to date and to create invoices. each client has a dedicated file where I can quickly access the tools I need. In one central place I can review expenses, billing line items, matters and a range of useful features.

Cons

Honestly I had to rack my brain before writing this part because I couldn't come up with anything I didn't dislike.

One-stop legal practice management

Pros

Using this tool I can keep my legal practice organized in what feels like a nearly one-stop shop for virtually every management task I need to tackle from client files to billing and scheduling. On top of that I find the tech support team to be absolutely outstanding and always responsive.

Cons

Some expenses syncing into QuickBooks as "Panther Sales" under income has been confusing for me during bookkeeping, even though I can usually correct it quickly during monthly reconciliations.

Clear insights into hours and payments

Pros

We moved over to this tool from TimeSolv because we weren't happy with their reporting or usability. We absolutely love how this product shows clear insights into hours worked, amounts billed and what we've actually collected. We're also big fans of how simple it is for clients to make payments and the built-in credit card processing makes things much smoother.

Cons

Pricing still feels high to me especially without any distinction between attorneys and paralegals.

All-in-one CrM, case & billing

Pros

Our firm had a hard time locating a true all-in-one solution for CRM, matter management and billing until we discovered it. It's by far the simplest of the tools we tested and having all our everyday tasks brought together in one smooth platform makes it indispensable for our practice.

Cons

I noticed the software is missing certain 'learning' capabilities found in comparable apps. For instance, it doesn't automatically fill in data or let you set up keyword automation, features that would be especially useful for aligning billing.

Pros

Using this tool is incredibly simple and getting everything set up at the start barely took any time. The features are impressive for such an affordable price and whenever I needed help, the training and support were easy to reach and genuinely helpful.

Cons

Powerful search and billing workflow

Pros

One thing I really appreciate is the powerful search, it finds what I need fast. The billing workflow is also a huge improvement over the old software we used, it's much simpler and because of the built-in timer and the easy way it lets me log billable work, we're actually capturing more billable hours than before. On top of that, it's been surprisingly effective at nudging my boss to finish tasks I've assigned him.

Cons

Navigation can be frustrating in my case since using the back button doesn't return me to the exact previous screen and forces me to manually find my way back.

easy for non-tech-savvy users

Pros

As a user I find this app extremely easy to use even if you're not tech-savvy, it lets someone with little technical background navigate comfortably and without stress. It's optimized for mobile and works smoothly on both Mac and PC so I can open Panther whenever and wherever I need. When I run into issues their support team is great I reach out and they often jump on a screen-share to walk me through things which really helps me learn. Honestly their customer service has been a lifesaver.

Cons

Adding new fields feels laggy to me, with a process that isn't easy and input areas that are too small, even though I still like many aspects of the software and would recommend it among my top choices for running a law firm.
