Pros

Keeping track of time and projects across different clients is really convenient and seeing the total hours for the month at a glance is a big plus.

The best billing tool I've ever used!!

Pros

Switching between daily tasks is simple and if I enter something by mistake, I can delete it without any hassle. Being able to see what my boss has already billed is also really helpful. Overall it's excellent and far better than any other billing software I've used.

Cons

I'd just like to have the option for a longer inactivity timeout period.

Helpful for running a law firm

Pros

Running a law firm is something law school never really prepares you for and it has done an outstanding job filling that gap for me. It has been phenomenal to work with and has helped me capture time that would have otherwise been lost in a very simple way. Both the software and the team behind it are user-friendly, proactive and have helped me get control of my billing quickly. Since I'm often returning calls while traveling from one court to another and spend very little time in the office, the 24/7 cloud access fits perfectly with how I manage my practice. It has made logging and billing phone calls incredibly simple. TimeSolv has given me tools that let a solo practitioner compete with larger firms without needing to bring on extra staff.

Cons

One thing that could be improved is the coding structure since it seems to be built more with larger firms in mind. A more organized set of codes for solo practitioners would be really helpful. I haven't brought this suggestion to them directly but based on how responsive and supportive they've already been in helping me create new codes to simplify my billing, I'm confident they would be open to it.

Pros

After comparing several legal practice software options, TimeSolv ended up being the one that made the most sense. A friend recommended it and out of all the web-based platforms I reviewed, this was easily the best one I came across. It offered the strongest value for the price and for a startup, that mattered a lot. At some point I may still move over to a hosted system but when I was getting started, this was the best fit I found.

Cons

My preference was actually for a hosted solution since I'm not really a fan of web-based software. Still, the hosted options were just too expensive so I chose TimeSolv instead.

Detailed functionality

Pros

After trying several time and billing tools, it turned out to be the one that actually handles everything I need. The support team has also been fantastic, any time the online help didn't cover my question, a representative stepped in and helped me work it out. I tested a few other products before choosing TimeSolv and even though some of them had flashier interfaces, none of them delivered the functionality I was looking for.

Cons

The mobile version has given me a bit of trouble when it comes to generating invoices.

Good value for money

Pros

It is fairly simple to work with and offers good value for small practices. Their customer support is excellent at responding to questions and they also provide plenty of helpful tutorial videos.

Cons

Navigation can feel a bit tricky at first but once you become familiar with it, the system works well.

Made billing predictable

Pros

Switching to it made our billing and time tracking much more simple and predictable. Since it's cloud-based, we can access the system outside the office without any hassle and it has helped us cut down the time we spend on these tasks. The iPhone and Android apps are a big plus as well. Billing is simple, time tracking is efficient and there are no extra charges for staff members who need to access the database or enter time for the professionals involved.

Cons

Every now and then, we run into a feature that it doesn't offer yet. When that happens, customer service is usually helpful. The reporting feature itself is clearly well designed but the actual experience of reading and working through those reports could definitely be better.

My favorite time-entry system

Pros

Keeping up with billable hours is much better with TimeSolv. The platform is very user-friendly and it comes with plenty of features that make entering time quick and simple. I've used other time-entry systems before and this has easily become my favorite.

Cons

I do wish the user side offered a simpler way to pull up a report showing the remaining budget on specific tasks.

Can add notes into the client file

Pros

So simple to manage. I especially appreciate being able to add notes right inside the client file and having multiple fields for contact details is a big advantage. A lot of clients want more than one phone number or email saved so that flexibility is really useful.

Cons

Getting the payment invoices set up was a bit confusing in the beginning. After I learned how to send the payment link though, the process became very simple.

Right from the start, it has been very user-friendly so all of our attorneys are able to work with it without much trouble. Since it's web-based, we can also access it on either a Mac or a PC which makes it really convenient for our team.

Cons

A few of the reports don't work the way I'd want them to. One of my colleagues even asked for a new report based on what would actually be helpful for us and our contact said they would consider that feedback. I'm also not particularly fond of the retainer feature because it doesn't match how we handle retainers from an accounting perspective. That said we did come up with a workaround so it hasn't been a deal breaker.

Satisfied with it

Pros

After moving our law firm to this software, we've been really happy with the decision. The system is very user-friendly so everyone picked it up fast even our oldest attorneys who aren't very comfortable with technology. Our billing process is now much faster and far less complicated than it was before. It was absolutely worth making the switch.

Cons

There have been a few features we've needed that TimeSolv doesn't currently offer but whenever that comes up, customer support has been able to provide a workaround.

Can access it from anywhere

Pros

Being able to access it from anywhere is a big plus and the pricing feels very reasonable. The invoices look professional and creating and sending them is simple and quick.

Cons

It would be better if customizable reports were included. It should also allow invoices to be sent to clients who weren't billed during the month instead of limiting that option to statements only.

Pros

Navigating the site feels very user-friendly and the draft invoice preview is especially helpful. I also appreciate having several options to download invoices in different formats.

Cons

One thing I don't care for is the limited connectivity with accounting software. The sync feature works okay but it could definitely be improved to make syncing more reliable.

Cloud storage is brilliant

Pros

One thing that really works well is the cloud storage since it frees up a lot of space on the office PC. It also helps keep the data secure and sustainable over time. For billing, it does exactly what I need and works really well.

Cons

Every now and then, there's a bit of a delay when printing clients' balances.

Rude support

Pros

There's really nothing notable about this software. The support team came across as rude and incapable and the product doesn't offer anything you can't get from plenty of other options. I'd honestly recommend passing on it.

Cons

At its core, the platform feels average at best but the support is what truly makes it a terrible product. During our free trial, we worked with Tiann Stout for a demo and the experience was awful. She was rude, unprofessional and clearly didn't seem to understand the product very well. We had basic questions about the QuickBooks integration and she couldn't even provide simple answers. On top of that, during a trial exercise when we asked her to create a dummy client, she used a real active client instead, generated a fake invoice and actually emailed it to that client. To make matters worse, she showed no remorse and tried to pin the mistake on my office manager.

They know their stuff

Pros

Keeping track of time feels very simple. Their customer service has been outstanding too, whether they walk me through something over the phone or remotely connect to my computer, the team always seems to understand the problem right away and help me solve it. I also really appreciate that they've been available whenever I've needed help, including nights and weekends. The reports are the best I've come across and the abbreviations end up saving me a lot of time.

Cons

I don't like having to press backspace when using abbreviations. The time savings still make the feature worthwhile but it seems like there should be a way to use abbreviations without needing that extra keystroke.

Glad we chose it

Pros

After the initial training, I was able to get all of my time and billing, A/R and trust accounting set up without much trouble and keeping everything updated has been simple. The system itself is very user-friendly. The biggest plus though, is TimeSolv's customer support especially Gigi. Help is almost always available right when I need it and they're consistently patient and useful with technical questions. If they don't have an answer right away, they stay with the issue until they figure it out. As a new solo attorney who spent months comparing dozens of platforms, I'm really happy to have landed on an affordable option that covers my billing and trust account needs.

Cons

My only real complaint and the reason I'd rate it 4 instead of 5 stars is the document storage feature. Right now, files have to be uploaded individually, one at a time, instead of using drag-and-drop or uploading batches of documents, folders or files together. For attorneys, that kind of cloud storage and electronic recordkeeping is essential and really shouldn't be so time-consuming in a law practice. If they improve that part of the system, I could absolutely see myself sticking with TimeSolv for the long haul.

Whenever I've had a question, the customer service team has been excellent. They're available on chat and even use screen sharing to walk me through how things work and answer my questions clearly.

Cons

Some workflows take quite a few steps to complete and those parts could definitely be organized and simplified.
