Rigid billing and invoice limits

Pros

It works well for both the attorney and me to enter time which helps cut down on missed billable hours.

Cons

The biggest frustration is how inflexible the developers are with reports and invoice formatting especially for a company that works with so many law firms. I've raised the same concerns multiple times about not being able to control important invoice details, like separating the trust ledger or balance from the amount due, along with issues around payments and discounts. Even after doing a web session to walk them through the problems, their response was basically that I should spend more time teaching clients how to read the invoice instead of them improving it. It wasn't "we'll look into it," it was more like "that's your issue," which was really disappointing. At the same time, they constantly send announcements about new features that have nothing to do with timekeeping or billing which I always understood to be their core service. It feels like they're more focused on chasing new markets than properly supporting the law firms already using the product.

Easy to track time and prepare invoices

Pros

Getting a new client matter set up, tracking time, preparing and sending invoices, handling parts of trust accounting and running reports all feels very user-friendly and simple. The overall workflow makes it easy to manage the day-to-day tasks.

Cons

When a billing, payment or other financial issue comes up I can't reach out which is really inconvenient. Their customer service is lacking.

User-friendly web-based software

Pros

Using it has been a positive experience. It's user-friendly, web-based so I don't have to worry about constantly backing up data and the customer service is excellent. They also keep making improvements to the product which is really nice to see.

Cons

I only have two minor complaints. First, when I'm entering time, I have to take my hands off the keyboard to choose the date from a calendar on the left side of the screen. Second, there isn't a quick hotkey option to repeat the client name from the previous entry. Neither issue is major but both slow me down a little when I'm entering time.

Customer-focused billing platform

Pros

One of the best parts is its outstanding customer service. The platform is clearly built with customers in mind and it can be customized to match specific billing requirements. They also keep improving the software regularly by listening to user feedback and making updates based on it.

Cons

A few of the more basic features feel fixed and can't be adjusted, such as the character limit in notes and the way dates are displayed in year, month, day format instead of month, day, year.

Tracks billing hours

Pros

We found it quite easy to use. It makes it simple to track billing hours and the specific type of work we handle for each client. The reporting is also really useful because we can break things down by work type and see which areas bring in most of our income.

Cons

At this point, I really have not come across anything to dislike. We mainly use it to track both billable and nonbillable hours, create invoices and monitor cash receipts and those features have worked well for us without any complaints.

Modern platform with helpful support

Pros

A modern setup that handles common problems really well. The support, sales and technical teams have all been friendly and helpful which made the move from our old TimeSlips database much easier.

Cons

Reporting capabilities are limited. That's really the biggest difference compared with TimeSlips. We used billing worksheet summaries before and I still haven't found anything that comes close to matching that.

Well-structured interface

Pros

The interface feels very well-organized, it looks good and it handles exactly what I need it to do on a regular basis. The search feature is also something I genuinely enjoy using.

Cons

The only problem I've run into happens when I zoom the screen in or out. If I zoom too far out, I sometimes can't add time entries for weekend days.

Smooth onboarding and clear guidance

Pros

Right from the start the onboarding felt painless. I was introduced to our rep immediately and got a tutorial without any delay. Every step that followed was explained in plain, simple language and the pricing was clearly outlined along the way.

Cons

Once I became familiar with the program, its reports and all the different ways to categorize everything, I honestly have no complaints. Any time an unusual question comes up, my rep is just an email away.

Simplicity stands out

Pros

Fast reporting

Pros

Everything feels user-friendly and quick. The software does exactly what it says it will. It's simple to use and getting to the reports is convenient.

Cons

Fantastic support every time

Pros

Whenever I get stuck with it which happens less and less as I get more familiar with it, there's always a live support person ready to walk me through it. That level of customer service is honestly the best feature and incredibly valuable.

Cons

the system requires periodic password changes and keeping track of yet another password isn't always easy for me.

Helpful search function

Pros

The search feature does a solid job of helping me keep track of time entries. Another thing that works really well is the abbreviations feature since it keeps my time entries consistent.

Cons

It would be better if the search feature didn't require an exact phrase to find results.

Responsive team

Pros

The customer support team is extremely fast and responsive. The interface is very simple to use and getting staff trained on it has been no trouble at all. It has really organized our billing process and helped us send invoices out much faster with less effort.

Cons

The only thing I'd like to see added for our setup is support for multiple invoice templates, each with its own letterhead image. That said it hasn't been a deal breaker for us.

Pros

It's quite simple to manage and it does a really nice job of keeping multiple companies and different billing setups organized separately.

Cons

At times, certain features such as reports can be a bit hard to locate and the update notifications tend to stick around even after they've already been opened.

Provides detailed reports

Pros

Compared with some competing tools, it lets you log time by day instead of having to enter it separately for every client. That setup makes it simple to add extra time whenever needed. On top of that, the reporting is really useful since you can generate reports for just about every feature TimeSolv includes.

Cons

One annoyance is that the password has to be reset every few months.

Simple setup

Pros

Getting started with it has been very simple and the overall setup process has gone well. The platform is uncomplicated and the support we've received has been excellent throughout.

Needs more tabs

Pros

TimeSolv feels very user friendly overall and even people who are new to computers or the internet would likely be able to use it without much trouble.

Cons

Having to backtrack to reach certain functions can be annoying. It would help to add more tabs and links so users can open more screens from multiple places.
