Top notch Learning System For Our Premium Needs

Pros

Learning with Cornerstone feels intuitive, with a mostly tidy interface. While some newer systems offer more modern features, Cornerstone gets the job done for us. I appreciate how relatively simple it is to engage our users and deliver quality learning content.

Cons

While the content development tools are improving, it is still necessary to use external authoring applications.

The worst experience I have ever had with a software or company!!!!

Pros

Unfortunately, the salesperson misled us, and it does not suit our needs as a restaurant group.

Cons

Despite being assured otherwise, it does not integrate with ADP, leaving us feeling cheated.

Helpful audio and text tools

Using it is pretty simple and I really appreciate having both audio and text options available.

Cons

It could use a more modern refresh since parts of it feel a little outdated.

customizable dashboard

Pros

The dashboard is adaptable and the whole system can be configured so users see and use it in ways that fit their needs. It's also helpful to be able to highlight or recommend specific training modules.

Cons

Starting a training can be a bit complicated. The platform is very detailed and without proper guidance, it can feel quite complex to navigate.

Offers great value

Pros

Right away, it stands out for how much it offers. The course catalog is packed with solid training options, the reporting can be customized in a lot of useful ways and there are several different methods for uploading courses we've built ourselves. There's a lot here to work with. Support Central is also genuinely helpful since it makes getting answers to common problems through the forums much less frustrating.

Cons

The only real issue on my side is how complicated dynamic learning assignments are for our company's setup. We need every new hire to be automatically assigned an orientation curriculum within their first 3 days but a lot of the time that assignment doesn't go out until Day 4 or even later. I was able to piece together a workaround from the Support Central community forums but it still isn't as smooth as I want it to be. As far as I know, there isn't a true fix for it yet and honestly that's the one thing I dislike.

Well structured interface

Pros

Cornerstone's biggest strength is its modern, user-friendly interface. Whether team members are submitting class requests or system admins are handling learning assignments, everyone can get things done efficiently. The added CyberU courses are also a real advantage since they complement our instructor-led training and help us retain top talent. On top of that, when admins aren't sure how to complete something in the system, the Success Center provides videos, courses and other helpful resources for troubleshooting.

Cons

I don't have any complaints about the suite itself.

Custom branding

Pros

Setting up the site to match your company works really well, whether that means adding your own logo, choosing custom colors or using your own course images. The platform also offers a solid range of tools for assigning courses and keeping track of them. Another helpful part is the office hours which make it easier to ask questions, work through glitches and get guidance when rolling out a new program.

Cons

Getting comfortable with the system takes time especially if you have never been an LMS administrator before. The office hours do help but when the issue is larger and they cannot resolve it there, you have to open a case for further support. A lot of the time, that means being sent fairly complex troubleshooting steps to complete before anyone will investigate directly. Sometimes those steps are useful but they can also turn into hours of extra work and responses often take days before you hear back.

beginner-friendly

Pros

Getting around the platform is very simple. It's set up to be simple to use so I rarely need to contact the help desk to fix anything. The fail-safe design also makes it much easier for new training administrators to get up to speed and become productive pretty quickly.

Cons

Every now and then, the built-in help content, while usually brief and helpful, doesn't go into enough detail to give complete confidence that the answer is clear enough to avoid having to redo something later especially with tasks like setting up recurring dynamic assignments. The first time I created more advanced assignments, it took a bit of time before I felt fully comfortable with the process.

can add class sessions, let people register, print sign-in sheets

Pros

One thing that really works well in Cornerstone is how much you can manage and track in one place. You can add class sessions, let people register, print sign-in sheets and build curricula into a "Learning path" for each individual. Having all of that available with tracking and reporting tied into it is a big plus.

Cons

The system is not very user-friendly. Some options are unnecessarily confusing, like having both "save" and "Done" when creating something which just makes the process less clear. I also miss having a live point of contact after implementation. On top of that, IT support is slow to respond and there have been several times when I solved the issue myself before hearing back.

Clunky from the instructor view

Pros

I appreciate the organization of my sessions on the calendar and having my certificates conveniently stored in one place. It's also handy to be able to download a roster copy.

Cons

From an instructor's perspective, the reporting capabilities are limited; I can only access the roster. It would be beneficial to see who has taken related courses or attended my sessions directly within the system.

Stays current with learning management trends

Pros

It feels built with both learners and admins in mind which makes a big difference. It stays current with learning management trends through features like the learning app and curated playlists. The UI keeps getting refreshed and those updates make the platform more pleasant to use over time. There's clearly a lot of thought put into what users actually need. Another big plus is the admin community, where people actively help each other with questions, troubleshooting and ideas for improving the system. Cornerstone pays attention to that feedback and often rolls suggestions into ongoing updates. They also provide plenty of training materials for new admins, along with certifications for more advanced users.

Cons

A few parts of the platform still feel dated and could use more improvement although it does seem like those areas are already being addressed. There are quite a few planned updates on the roadmap that should help modernize those weaker spots.

Great online resources

Pros

Starting out as a new admin, I was able to log in to the Success Center and get up to speed pretty fast. The help I got from other clients, along with the online resources and training courses, gave me a lot of confidence in the role. I still go back to the Success Center every day to report issues, look into topics and keep up with new features as they are released.

Cons

A few requested improvements have been sitting in Suggestion City for more than five years without any response. One example is that admins still can't set a withdrawal deadline based on a specific time frame so a flag has to be marked manually instead. Manually updating ILT sessions is also very tedious. If you need to change the start time for 50 sessions, it all has to be done one by one which means a lot of extra clicking and wasted time. There really should be an automated way to make bulk changes and cut down on the manual work. Another thing that's badly needed is the ability to edit playlist thumbnails. My company was reluctant to roll out playlists online because of this. When external links are added, there's no control over which thumbnail gets displayed.

Cornerstone LMS not great for complicated builds

Pros

Cornerstone represents a significant improvement over the LMS platforms we used five years ago. It handles large volumes of learning objects and straightforward assignments well.

Cons

Administering Cornerstone is not straightforward, there are numerous nuances that arise during various activities also there are inconsistencies across different screens. While some areas allow you to select multiple objects at once, others require individual clicks, which is time-consuming.

offers several application options

Pros

It offers several application options depending on budget. Our hospital system went with a more basic, lower-cost version of the LMS and it still works well for electronic class scheduling. I'm able to enter a specific class title, assign an instructor, set the course start and end times, add students, print the class roster and finalize the course after grading each student electronically.

Cons

The version we use is missing two features that are really important. First, it does not let me assign an in-system proficiency for students to complete after instruction. Second, there is no built-in class evaluation that students can fill out once the class is finished.

A great Talent Mgmt Portal

Pros

For talent management in a corporation, this covers everything from LMS to onboarding, performance management, collaboration, communication, and social features.

Cons

The admin interface is challenging to navigate, and Cornerstone has a habit of rolling out half-baked features. They often prioritize flashy additions to attract new clients but fail to execute them well.
