“Global Shop Review
Pros
I like the fact how Global Shop allows me to customize and tailor it to my specific needs. Learning and utilizing their GAB programming isn't too challenging.
Cons
When updates are introduced they often take a considerable amount of time, and unfortunately, they sometimes end up breaking other parts of the system. This is partly due to our specific customs and options.

“An ERP solution that seems like it is stuck in the past.
Pros
The range of features provided by Global Shop Solutions for managing manufacturing operations is impressive. It covers inventory management, production scheduling, and job costing. Additionally, Global Shop Solutions offers some level of customization, allowing me to adapt the software to my unique requirements and processes.
Cons
Price wise, Global Shop Solutions can be quite costly, especially for small businesses working with limited budgets. In terms of complexity, the software can be intricate and may require significant time and resources to fully implement and integrate into our operations. Additionally, it may not integrate smoothly with other software or platforms, which can pose challenges for businesses utilizing multiple tools.

“Worst Professional Decision I ever made
Pros
The Product Demo exceeded my expectations. It performs its intended functions flawlessly. Depending on the size of your company, it's more valuable than a shoe box. The references provided are highly positive.
Cons
The Pervasive Database feels like a step back in time to 1995. When compared to MSSQL: a) Backing up and restoring databases is difficult and time-consuming. b) Finding internal resources with Pervasive skills is challenging, unlike with MSSQL. c) There is a severe lack of third-party applications available. The tables in the database are poorly designed: a) Master tables contain multiple rows of data for a single header record, and the data definitions in the same column differ between rows. b) Instead of having a single General Ledger table, there are separate GL tables for each module. A better design would be to have a unified table with a column identifying its source. c) The column names in the database are inconsistent. The same field in two separate tables often have different names, making it difficult to write custom reports that require linking tables. Simple requests are challenging to follow up on: a) Extracting data for basic analysis in Excel is difficult or requires custom programming. Examples include lists of customers, vendors, purchase activity, vendor payments, and general ledger detail activity. b) The financial report writer is outdated and difficult to use for ad hoc reporting needs. Unfortunately, we were unable to complete a site visit to a company using the software during the selection process due to Covid. If we had witnessed it in action, we would not have chosen it. The software feels very dated.

“Global Shop Solutions
Pros
This product comes with all the modules and numerous customizable programs right out of the box. Unlike other ERP systems that require additional purchases for add-ons (which can be costly), Global Shop Solutions provides a complete package.
Cons
I can't pinpoint a specific function of Global Shop that I dislike. Most issues stem from a lack of training. However, the team is highly supportive and knowledgeable when we reach out to them for help.

“Shop Manager
Pros
We had the option to purchase the system outright. All modules are included in the package, and they offer free training (though the quality of the training is lacking).
Cons
It's crucial to thoroughly research before making a decision because this software is outdated. The system's source code is written in the antiquated COBOL language. Although the user interface appears modern, rest assured that the software itself is old. Each screen functions differently, and we consistently encounter COBOL error codes when performing simple tasks, like entering a dollar amount into a quote. There is a lack of continuity throughout the system, with each screen feeling like a different software altogether.

“Beyond your Expectation
Pros
The GS system proved to be highly beneficial for production planning, inventory management, capacity monitoring, and tracking item status and completion dates.
Cons
In manufacturing, the product performs excellently but I found the accounting flow to be intricate, and it was bothersome that the price was indicated for every product.

“Very dependable and great customer service!
Pros
The system is continuously evolving to meet the ever-changing demands of our business. The technical support is excellent, and there's immense potential for customization.
Cons
Add ins like ARC and GAB require more explanation regarding their purpose and functionality. There are numerous "Script" or User Fields with insufficient clarification.

“At implementation stage
Pros
The implementation program is exceptional, with a dedicated Program Manager and several consultants. Weekly meetings help us stay on track, and the software is easy to use.
Cons
The safety stock doesn't affect the MRP; it serves as the reorder point. We're currently trying to understand how it works because we only have safety stocks on FG.

“Excellent experience over the past 10 years
Pros
We consider GSS to be a highly advanced ERP tool with sophisticated functionality even though we don't utilize all of its features. The software's extensive range of customizable parameters allowed us to configure it according to our business needs, making the implementation process crucial. Even after 10 years, the software options, coupled with GSS's commitment to continuous improvement, have kept up with our evolving processes and information requirements. I can't praise their customer service support enough they are incredibly responsive, professional, and competent. Almost every service call is addressed on the same day and issues are typically resolved within 48 hours of initial contact. Given our 24/6 business operations, this level of responsiveness is vital.
Cons
The issues we encountered while navigating between modules to obtain information or take a "big picture" approach have been resolved with the introduction of dashboards throughout the software. However, there have been some system lags due to recent changes, but we believe they are being addressed.

“Great Customer Service, Fantastic ERP System, Easy to Use!
Pros
As the Human Resources Manager, Global Shops Payroll function is my primary use. It's remarkably simple and user-friendly. It effectively tracks employee time spent on machines, jobs, or processes. I love the feature that allows me to export reports directly to our payroll provider saving me time and streamlining my job. We've utilized the training capabilities within GS to create department-specific training guides, which has significantly reduced the time I spend writing out each step. The ability to capture screenshots of each process step is wonderful and greatly aids my training process. Moreover the support team is absolutely fantastic and always ready to assist me in optimizing our system.
Cons
Occasionally, the system's speed can be sluggish, and it varies across different modules.

Pros

I am particularly impressed with their exceptional customer service and support team, who promptly addressed all of my inquiries. Our knowledgeable and caring Account Manager adds tremendous value. Furthermore, the company's commitment to ethical practices and social responsibility bodes well for their future success.

“The good and the bad
Pros
I must commend Global Shop Solutions (GSS) for their straightforward and user-friendly payroll feature. Unlike other complicated payroll software I've used in the past, GSS makes it easy to manage payroll tasks. Additionally, the accounting functions, such as accounts payable and accounts receivable, are highly functional. The quoting and shop order capabilities are also seamless.
Cons
The speed can be quite slow at times, especially when working with Crystal Reports. We have numerous reports to print, and some cannot be simplified. Error codes are frequent, requiring hotfixes or remaining unresolved. These are the basic downsides, but the extended list of error codes and hotfixes is extensive and encountered daily.

“Absolutely horrible user interface.
Pros
I have been using this program for about 13 months now, and I must admit that I struggle to find anything positive to say about it. In summary, if you're considering using this program to simplify your work, you'll be extremely disappointed. Let me share some of my observations, although I'll try to keep it brief. The user interface, without a doubt, is the worst I've ever encountered in my almost 30 years of working with computers. The text interface is simply terrible, with inconsistent behavior when entering information. Clicking on a field sometimes erases and replaces the existing content, while other times it appends to it. It's also unclear whether hitting "enter" or "tab" is required to accept edits. The program's behavior with lowercase letters varies, and the case-sensitivity of fields is inconsistent. Furthermore, the cursor placement in text fields is unpredictable, sometimes starting at the beginning, at the end, or even highlighting the entire field. To prevent overwriting text when editing a field, you have to press the "insert" key, as overwriting is the default action and there's no "control-z" function to undo any mistakes. Many windows in the program lack a "minimize" button, leaving only the "X" to close them. This becomes frustrating when the program's windows always take precedence over other windows on my machine, even if I have selected another application like Outlook. The inventory browser window, for example, constantly stays in front of everything else. The only way to get it out of the way is to close it since there's no minimize button. When working on an order or quote, opening a new window for line items leaves the old window (header) open and blocking the view of what's behind it. Unfortunately, it's not possible to move it because it's not the active window. The cut/paste form fill interface is extremely difficult to understand and practically impossible to use if you don't have an insert button. But perhaps the most frustrating aspect is the absence of a "control-z" or "undo" functionality. Even Windows 95 had this basic feature. You can't undo any actions, and you can't even close or abort an order without saving it. Copying and pasting, as well as inserting, behave differently depending on the specific window that's open. In conclusion, I strongly recommend staying away from this program as its user interface feels like a poorly executed attempt.
Cons
Unfortunately, this program doesn't interface with Windows. Additionally certain functionalities like using control-Z or formatting are not possible.
