flexible email blocks and layouts

Pros

Block-based setup in the design feature works really well. Breaking emails into sections makes formatting much more manageable and having several layout options to choose from is definitely helpful.

Cons

It doesn't feel as simple as I expected though. I'd prefer it to be more user-friendly because whenever I try to do something new, I usually have to spend some time experimenting before I can figure out how to make it work.

powerful analytics and targeting

Pros

This platform has been part of my workflow for more than five years across several roles and it has held up really well as my subscriber list grew. There's a huge library of help articles and videos which becomes especially useful once you're working with a few thousand subscribers. I'm currently managing a list of more than 20,000 contacts and at that scale the categorization tools are incredibly helpful. I can map email addresses to different tags which makes it simple to build campaigns for very specific audience segments. Security also matters a lot for our team so the two-step verification at login is a feature I really appreciate. The dashboard is very simple too. Right from the main screen, I can quickly check recent campaigns, see whether they're in draft or sent status and review open rates and click-through rates. The analytics are one of the strongest parts as well. With tracking enabled for e-commerce, it shows exactly how many orders came from an email send, along with average order value and total revenue. During setup, it asks about your industry and it's worth entering that accurately because the benchmarking feature is useful. It lets you compare campaign performance not only against your past sends but also against similar businesses. Another time-saver is the social media integration since I can connect channels and automatically share email campaigns there too. On top of that, the search tool works really well, you can look up keywords across years of campaigns or subscriber records without much trouble.

Cons

Importing and exporting subscribers works well enough but I really wish there were a bulk editing feature for assigning contacts to categories or tags all at once. Another issue is that when I send test emails for internal review before launch, they frequently end up in the junk folder.

Perfect tool for integrations

Pros

Right from the start, the interface felt simple and user-friendly and it let me customize the emails sent whenever any event happened on the website. The app integrations were impressive and helped cut down a lot of our manual work. On top of that, the analytics have been incredibly valuable for reaching the right audience at exactly the right time.

Cons

One downside was that the free plan felt too limited for a company our size since we wanted to test everything thoroughly before fully rolling it out. Also because of high email bounce rates, these marketing automation platforms tend to be extremely strict and they can block your account immediately.

free and reliable for years

Pros

Getting up to 2,000 contacts for free was a huge help when my business was still small. I've stuck with it all these years because it's very simple to use and has continued to work well for what I need.

Cons

I really haven't run into any major downsides. It's consistently handled what I need it to do. The only issues have been minor, like when adding a picture inside a text block, it shrinks the text too much to read on a phone. The image needs to go in its own picture box instead. It's a small thing but it was really frustrating until I figured that out.

Simple interface and navigation

Pros

Interface feels very simple. There's a small learning curve at first but once you're familiar with it, navigation becomes very easy.

Cons

Setting up campaigns can be pretty time-consuming. If you need to send the same email to multiple lists or segments, you have to create a separate campaign for each one. The reporting features could also be improved.

user-friendly with plenty of features

Pros

This system was quick because it's very user-friendly and doesn't take much time to learn. Even though it feels simple, it still includes a wide range of options and features.

Cons

Reporting side could use some improvement. The templates feel a bit limited although the system overall is still easy to use.

powerful API flexibility

Pros

Between the API integrations and the custom field options, this tool ends up being incredibly versatile and useful. Even when requests get pretty complex, it handles them without a problem.

Cons

Pricing feels a bit steep for smaller businesses. The integration debugging tools could definitely use an update and I had to reach out to customer support a few times to get a more detailed analysis for custom API integrations.

creative email design freedom

Pros

Putting together an email message feels very simple. It offers a lot of flexibility and gives users real freedom to create messages in a more creative way for their audience.

Cons

Platform gets updated regularly which is definitely a benefit but there have been a few times when the interface changed so much that it felt like I had to learn the program all over again.

account closed without warning

Pros

It's very simple to use. At first it takes a bit of time to understand but once you get used to it, everything feels easy. They've also added support for Facebook Ads which is useful.

Cons

One day they can suddenly shut down your account because your website's topic doesn't fit their company policy. That happened to me.

adaptive service that keeps improving

Pros

The way the service adjusts to changes and keeps adapting is something I really appreciate.

Cons

Since I support other people with their accounts, I end up using both the free and paid versions and it's noticeable that the free option now comes with fewer available features.

flexible templates and free start

Pros

One of the best parts for me is being able to add my own templates when building an email sequence. It also connects with a lot of platforms, including Facebook pages and others which makes it more useful. Another big plus is that beginners can use it completely free for up to 2,000 contacts so you don't have to pay anything at the start.

Cons

Part that lets it down a bit is that the WordPress and PayPal integrations can feel clunky and are not always reliable. Another concern is that they seem fairly quick to suspend accounts so if you end up with too many unsubscribes, your account or membership could get canceled.

time-saving list and email helper

Pros

This tool saves a ton of time and keeps lists, emails and similar tasks well organized. It's especially valuable when you don't have a dedicated person handling email marketing because it covers a lot on its own.

Cons

There are plenty of training resources available to help you learn the platform but I'd still rather have a more easy interface so it doesn't take so much time to figure out all the features.

helpful reporting and landing pages

Pros

Once you get the hang of it, the platform is pretty easy to use. The reporting tools do a really good job of showing who is opening emails and what content people are actually reading. I also think the landing page builder is a very useful feature for bringing in new subscribers.

Cons

Putting newsletters together can be frustrating sometimes especially when it comes to font styling and spacing. Another downside is that if you manage multiple lists and want to add a new subscriber, you have to enter them into each list one at a time.

excel contact handling is fantastic

Pros

One thing I really appreciate about this software is being able to import and export contacts using Excel files. That makes managing marketing emails much more convenient and it also helps me keep track of who is responding.

Cons

I honestly don't have any complaints about this software. It's very user-friendly and the customer support has been excellent.

parent updates made simple

Pros

Working as a teacher, I used this software to email my students' parents and it made communicating with a large group much more efficient. It really helped align mass emails especially when I was sending parent newsletters and sharing classroom updates with families. One of the most convenient parts was being able to create groups of contacts ahead of time so I didn't have to manually type in recipients every single time I wanted to send an update.

Cons

Really didn't run into any issues with this software. The only thing I could imagine being a concern is the cost especially for someone who needs to communicate with very large audiences. In my case as a teacher though, cost wasn't something I had to deal with which made the experience even better.

Amazing forms and big savings

Pros

Creating forms with this software is really easy and they give you plenty of free space to work with. From what I can tell, they don't start charging until you go over 2,500 subscribers which is a big plus. I used a tool called "yourmailinglistprovider" about 20 years ago and while it was decent back then, this completely outclasses it. It also helps me save money since I don't have to build separate sales funnel pages.

Cons

One issue is that it doesn't seem to perform very well on Android devices. A few of my fans have also mentioned that after signing up, they don't see any kind of "welcome, you're subscribed" page which can be confusing.

affordable newsletters that deliver

Pros

Having a free plan that already covers what we need has been a huge plus. We manage a mailing list of about 750 contacts and it lets us send newsletters and updates with a very polished, professional look without paying anything. And if we ever need to move to a paid tier, the pricing is still far more reasonable than the software we were using before.

Cons

Two-factor login can be a bit of a delay at times although I understand why it is there. Since we have not run into any security problems, I am perfectly fine putting up with the extra step.

Needs better audience targeting

Pros

The part I appreciated most was how simple it was to use. I relied on it to build a mailing list for the monthly newsletters I send out through my blog.

Cons

Since I haven't tried any similar products, I don't really have much to compare it against. That said having the option to customize groups and send different messages to each one would be really helpful.

A free plan done right

Pros

One thing I really appreciate is the attention to the small details. Even on the free plan, the MC logo in the emails sent to subscribers isn't overly prominent. It's there but it doesn't get in the way so the software still feels very usable. A lot of free tools feel almost designed to push you into paying because the free version is so clunky but that hasn't been the case here. Even without paying, it still works well and the overall quality feels maintained.

Cons

The part that frustrated me was trying to create a template and reuse it again and again. It took me longer than it should have to figure out where that option was and I'm someone who is comfortable with technology. I can only imagine that it would be even harder for an older person or someone who isn't very tech savvy. The process requires you to make a template first, then start a new campaign from that template every single time. That setup feels odd because the platform seems built mainly for people running email marketing while I often use it for non-work purposes, like sending updates to my church. In that kind of situation, creating "campaigns" doesn't really make sense. The tool can clearly be used for more than marketing but the way the system is structured doesn't fully support that.
