Clean templates and quick setup

Pros

Software is easy to learn and I can quickly add content to polished templates and launch campaigns without much effort.

Cons

One downside is how fast the pricing ramps up. It can go from free to fairly expensive per month with only a small increase in contacts.

automation that works

Pros

I found it very simple to get started and I'd gladly recommend it to other small businesses. The automation tools save me time and the ability to add GIFs helps make my emails more engaging.

Cons

It's nice to see them adding a Facebook advertising option to the platform but the features are still pretty limited. Right now, the ad builder mostly just helps you create ads rather than optimize them for better performance and cost.

Flexible templates and clear reports

Pros

For my small business clients, this is usually the platform I recommend. The free plan for smaller lists, user-friendly templates and easy-to-understand analytics make it a very practical choice. I also like having a separate login so clients maintain ownership of their accounts.

Cons

Getting copy and images formatted inside the templates comes with a bit of a learning curve. As one example, there seem to be multiple ways to center content and they don't always play nicely together. Every now and then I have to remove blocks and rebuild them or even add my own code, just to get the layout exactly the way I want.

powerful templates and customization

Pros

Managing contacts and lists feels effortless and I appreciate the flexibility of the customization options especially when working with custom-coded templates.

Cons

Its setup for "lists" and "campaigns" can be confusing at times especially when you're trying to sync it with other email platforms or fit it into other marketing workflows.

all-in-one email tool

Pros

This tool handles nearly everything I need for email campaigns in one place. Being able to duplicate projects, reuse graphics, track engagement, create targeted lists and even design assets directly within the platform has saved me a lot of time.

Cons

Honestly, there is not much I would want to change because it is very user-friendly and already includes almost everything I need. The one improvement that would really make it even better is stronger list storage and comparison, almost like having a built-in database for email addresses. In my case, I regularly have to upload updated constituent lists from other systems we use. When people unsubscribe in those outside databases, they still remain in my original saved lists here. Unless I manually check each contact one at a time, there is no simple way to tell who should be removed. If the platform let me upload a new list and compare it against an existing one to quickly spot differences, that would really be the final touch.

Strong ecommerce integrations

Pros

Third-party integrations are among the best I've used, particularly for ecommerce platforms and online stores.

Cons

On the downside, the developer docs for the ecommerce API are basically nonexistent. If you need to create an integration for a custom app, you're mostly left to figure it out yourself. The user interface can also be pretty confusing and tasks like uploading and resizing images feel unnecessarily awkward and unfriendly.

good support and updates

Pros

Out of all the email marketing apps I've tried over the years, this has been one of the most user-friendly. Responsive customer support and continuous feature improvements keep me coming back.

Cons

Tutorials could definitely be better. There are a lot of features and some of them are hard to fully use unless you really understand the system or have a developer's help. Still, it's honestly difficult to find much to dislike about it.

Flexible templates and reports

Pros

Creating and saving templates for future campaigns has been incredibly useful for me. I also enjoy the detailed reporting and the flexibility of choosing upgrades only when I need them.

Cons

The downside is that there's no way to actually speak with someone unless you pay for the premium package. Support is limited to email and it usually takes quite a while to get the feedback or help you need. Most of the time, you're pointed to a Q&A platform and left to search for the answer or support on your own.

Scalable campaigns and stats

Pros

Setting up lists, building campaigns and automating follow-ups is very easy. The tutorials, simple navigation, visible statistics and easy two-factor authentication setup make the experience smooth for me.

Cons

A few features can be harder to track down because it takes more than three clicks to reach them. For instance, I have to go through at least three steps just to get to the API page and copy my key. On top of that some campaign templates occasionally do not work and I have not been able to figure out why. Customer support by email can also take as long as two days to respond. This has only happened twice but it is still a frustrating wait.

advanced integrations and analytics

Pros

The free tier offers tremendous value for startups and growing businesses. I rely on the reporting tools to better understand audience behavior and I appreciate how easily this platform integrates with other products through APIs, automation tools and its broader ecosystem.

Cons

One weak spot is the online email and form designer which feels quite outdated and overdue for a refresh. At times the interface is awkward to work with and doesn't feel designed for modern devices. A more modern single-page app style would suit this software much better. Pricing can also climb once you go beyond the free tier and start using more advanced features although by then you've usually grown enough as a user that the higher cost matters less.

Free start for email lists

Pros

Anyone new to email marketing and wanting to test the waters without a big commitment will probably appreciate this option. You can keep up to 2,000 subscribers for free which makes it a nice starting point. The only tradeoff is a small badge at the bottom of each email but honestly that's not a big issue.

Cons

Customer service is where it falls short a bit. Support is available through live chat during weekdays from 8 am to 6 pm, plus form submission, email and social media. I personally would rather have phone support especially when I need help right away and can't afford to wait for a reply.

Effective automation and navigation

Pros

Compared with other systems I've worked with, this one is far more user-friendly. Getting around the platform is simple and finding and putting new features to use feels better than anything else I've tried. The automations are a huge time-saver and simple one-click options like "re-send to unopened" cut down a lot of manual work versus competing tools. The Facebook ad integration also makes managing things much more convenient.

Cons

My biggest concern is the cost which feels pretty expensive for what it offers. That stands out even more when some features, like cart abandonment, still don't feel as fully developed or comprehensive as they should be.

Basic email tool, weak Salesforce sync

Pros

Anyone across the company can put together emails without needing HTML skills. It also covers basic segmentation and offers automation that can be set up for simple targeted campaigns and nurture emails.

Cons

If your company uses Salesforce as its CRM, the Salesforce integration feels very awkward and unreliable. The template selection is also pretty limited and at some point you'll likely need to create your own HTML template.

Organized mailing and quick design

Pros

Putting emails together is very easy, adding components is basically just drag and drop. One thing I really enjoy is how well it keeps my mailing lists organized. I work with a lot of logos and graphics and having them stored right in my account instead of digging through my computer every time is a big time-saver.

Cons

I do wish it included more font options and more creative editing tools. For instance, having several button styles to choose from would be helpful. I also keep having to search for an RGB-to-Hex color converter so it would be nice if that feature were built in. Another limitation is batch sending, I work with large lists and send emails in batches but it won't allow more than 26 batches.

Free tools with integrations

Pros

Getting up to 2,000 subscribers on the free plan is the big draw and that's obviously why so many people use it. The brand is strong, the marketing is polished and it connects with Facebook, donor CRMs and plenty of other platforms. Signing up is simple and most people already know the platform which helps. I still use it for my personal email list because the free version is good enough there but I ended up moving my business list to another service.

Cons

Just to be clear, I've only used the free version so I can't really speak to what may be included in the paid tiers. A few things became frustrating over time. First, the constant warnings about images supposedly being too large for inboxes get old fast, automatic resizing would help a lot. Second, the design experience feels pretty awkward especially on slower African internet, where putting together something in the platform can take one or even two hours when I could create the same thing in 10 minutes in a proper desktop design program. The side-panel pop-up editor also slows things down, a true WYSIWYG editor would be much more practical. The biggest reason I moved my business list elsewhere though, was the import permission policy that blocked me from bringing in my own list. It felt like those strict rules were there more to protect it than to benefit clients or recipients especially since I had no such issue when moving to another paid provider and this is a very legitimate list with around a 60% open rate.

advanced marketing automation tools

Pros

Compared with a lot of weaker competitors, this platform does a much better job of combining integration, audience segmentation and marketing automation. The interface is easy and user-friendly and the WYSIWYG email editor makes drag-and-drop content creation simple without needing any coding knowledge.

Cons

One thing I'd really like to see improved is the content repository. It would be much more useful if it could store reusable content snippets, including image and text combinations, videos and other assets that could be inserted into future messages.

Colorful emails that stand out

Pros

Creating emails with this lets me show a lot of creativity which really helps me catch my residents' attention with colorful, engaging messages. The level of personalization it gives me is also a huge help.

Cons

I'd love to see more email ideas included so I could get extra inspiration from the templates too.

User-friendly scheduling and contacts

Pros

Scheduling emails and adding a new contact to an existing list both feel very user-friendly which makes those parts of the platform pleasant to work with.

Cons

Terminology and overall interface feel a bit awkward and it often takes more clicks than it should to reach things that seem like they ought to be one-click actions. It's not especially simple even for someone with 15+ years of CMS experience.

Simple scheduling and email setup

Pros

This has been very easy and simple. Our office administrator can handle the email setup and I'm able to jump right into the screen and make edits without any hassle. It lets us add photos, schedule emails and take advantage of several other really useful features.

Cons

There honestly isn't much for me to complain about. If I had to point out one thing, it would be that the default design choices could look a bit better in terms of layout, styling, fonts and overall appearance.

Strong campaigns and customization

Pros

Using it feels very easy and it connects nicely with website plugins like Gravity Forms in WordPress so adding people to lists takes very little effort. One of the best parts is being able to schedule emails and build automated timelines based on specific conditions. For example someone can sign up and get one template a week later, then another the following month and so on. That kind of automation makes putting together a marketing campaign much more manageable. There's also plenty of room to customize the emails themselves even down to adding HTML code.

Cons

Biggest downside is the cost once your subscriber count gets into the thousands. As a non-profit, we have to carefully weigh the price against how effective it is. Another thing that bothers me is how YouTube videos work when embedded in an email, it adds another large attachment at the bottom and that really disrupts the overall design.
